The screw head will be silver and be on the handle side of your reel. Unscrew that, you should be able to by hand, and once you back it all the way out you need to hold the screw back because it's spring loaded. If you just loosen the screw and try to take off the sideplate, it won't budge. You have to pull back on it. Once you do that, twist the side plateTOWARDS you which will be UP, and pull it off. There you will find the spool with the brake tabs. Engage as many as you need, most people only need two on, and close her back up.
