  1. I agree. Looking like a terrorist while fishing isn't the smartest thing to do in my neck of the woods.
  2. White, white/chartreuse are always good colors. Nab some with a silver main blade, and some with a gold main blade. Blade type usually comes down to water clarity, or where I want my spinner bait to ride in the water column. I bought a Luck E Strike Trickster spinner bait, and they have a new blade called a "long drop" blade. Man do they vibrate like crazy on the retrieve. It's almost work reeling it in. Great for stained water though.
  3. Bearing count doesn't mean much though. The quality of the bearings used is much more important. I guarantee that 4 of those bearings are in the reel grips. The S has 2 bearings, and 2 bushings in the grips so internal bearing count is the same as the Mystic. I trust Abu internals more than some store brand though, especially at the same price point. I'll admit that the Mystic seems like a good value, as the Revo Shop sells the carbon handles for $50 and the EVA knobs for another $15-$20. I'm just not gonna lay down Abu/Lew's money on a store brand. Isn't the Mystic just the Mettle with carbon side plates, carbon handle, and EVA knobs? I know everyone and their brother loves the Mettle, so I can see this one being a huge seller for Academy.
  4. Yeah, his reply was a head scratcher. I've under spooled my spinning reel before and it hindered the way the line fed off the spool during a cast. Not sure if that's the OP's problem though.
  5. I love MLF like I said, but I wanna see them do a tourney where it's not all flipping and pitching. How about some reservoirs for some deep cranking, or drop shot etc? By the time I'm done watching MLF, I'm gonna have the flipping power of Denny Brauer. MLF needs a tad more variety on the type of fisheries that are chosen.
  6. Yep you're right. I just went back and watched some MLF they are indeed the Pit Bull. Good eye.
  7. Are you guys using cranks with rattles in them, or do you go silent? I know water clarity plays a part in rattles vs. silent cranks, but it seems the fish here on Douglas don't want a noisy bait right now. Are you guys finding the same in your local waters?
  8. Yeah i sent so many pair back to Oakley for exchange it was crazy. It's funny looking at the old Oakley glasses. I can't believe I ever wore some of those lol. Now I wear Oakley Batwolf and Flak Jackets. Zero issues out of those so far.
  9. They actually don't make the eye jackets that me and you had anymore. I had massive trouble out of the arms breaking right at the rubber ear pieces on the eye jackets, and especially the Minutes. The Straight Jackets are pretty beefy though, and I don't see those breaking.
  10. Does the MGX have a black thumb bar? I haven't really checked out the MGX enough to know.
  11. I believe they are the Straight Jackets. I didn't pay much attention to them, but that's what they looked like to me when I watched MLF. I've also seen him rock the Fuel Cells on occasion too. http://www.oakley.com/products/5717/19856
  12. Looks like the stealth chopper our SEALS used to sneak up on ol' Bin Laden lol.
  13. I was "scared" of going with fluoro for my main line, but I would recommend Seaguar Red Label as a good, cheap line. Treat it with KVD LNL and it's pretty manageable and doesnt have bad memory.
  14. If you go co poly stay faaar away from Pline C21. The stretch that line exhibits is absurd. Go XL or Yo Zuri hybrid 10# Test.
  15. I like baits with a little flash when the sun is out. Chromes, golds, maybe some orange or reds.
  16. That dash of orange earned Cliff Pace the Bassmaster Classic Championship.
  17. I hate the chrome bits on reels. HATE. THEM. Probably order them for my SX and STX. The STX will look especially awesome with more black.
  18. An all black SX and STX would be killer. I have the S, SX and STX so if the parts aren't much I may do that to the SX and STX.
  19. I don't get it either. Isn't there a red fishing line that is supposedly "invisible" in the water? So if red turns "invisible", then yeah...I don't know why it works.
  20. PTL JP Hammershad in spicy goby color. Great drop shot bait.
  21. My favorite is fishing a spinner bait. Fish absolutely annihilate them when they hit it.
  22. The Revo S is a steal at $129, though I'm not sure it would be the best choice for lighter baits nor would I call it "entry level".
