  1. That thing was notorious for scratching up the reel foot too on the old veritas.
  2. Clean and LIGHTLY oil the brake race and see if that helps. When I say lightly I mean put 3-⁴ drops on the tip of a cotton swab and run it around the race a couple times after u clean it with alcohol.
  3. BPS ribbon tails in Texas red or Yum F2 ribbon tails in black with red fleck.
  4. This. TVA messes with our water levels so much during summer and like Mike said, it scatters them. Rising water at least will bring the fish up a little shallower though. I'd much rather have rising lake levels than having them drop as it forces fish deeper when that happens. Here on Douglas anyway.
  5. They are in 50 foot of water and are suspending only 12ft deep? Man you're lucky. Our fish here suspend in 30+ foot of water. We gotta long line 6xds and break out the flutter spoons to have a chance. Crash a crank bait through them enough and they will bite. Here we will sometimes use a 3/4oz red eye shad and just let it flutter right through them on my buddy's graph. Because of the action those red eye have it's almost like jigging a spoon. So many options, but none are locks.
  6. I personally don't like that resistance that is felt by reeling the bail closed. Close it by hand and that resistance isn't felt as you don't have to move the handle to the point the bail engages. To each their own. I'll continue to do it my way as it gives me piece of mind and I respect my gear.
  7. Kind of looked like the Toray graphite *** uses on their *** and ***.
  8. Seaguar Red label 12# if you're fishing light cover. #10 Yo Zuri hybrid for anything else.
  9. I was always told that reeling a bail closed is a good way to mess up or break the spring, along with avoiding tangles.
  10. I always fish 3/4oz jugs but I fish deep. I either use a rage craw for a trailer or cut down a used biffle bug and stick it on.
  11. I keep them in their original bags and put them in worm binders
  12. A lot of the pros I've talked to don't enjoy fishing tourneys here. TVA messes with the water levels so much in the summer. They will allow it to go way past full pool, then they drop it past normal pool. Rinse and repeat. Really messes with the fishing. Fish here stay deeper for some reason than other lakes with comparable water clarity.
  13. Do you reel the bail closed, or close it by hand?
  14. Where's the best place to buy Yo Zuri hybrid now? Had a couple break offs the past 3 nights with Red Label and I'm going back to the Yo.
  15. Flutter spoons and long line some 6XDs.
  16. I'm with you. Summer fishing on Douglas Lake SUUUUUUUUCKS! TVA raises the water levels way past full pool, then drops it down way past normal pool soooo many times during the summer. Insane traffic on the lake, Couple that with all the weird weather we've been having and I've been skunked the past 3 nights throwing everything but the kitchen sink. Talked to a few folks in our local BPS, and it's the same story. No one seems to be catching ANYTHING right now here. Come Fall and Spring though.....man I can't wait. In the past couple years I can count on one hand where I've fished during those times and walked away un-smelly hands.
  17. I like an XF action for jigs 1/2-3/4oz. Fast is just too soft of a tip for those weights.
  18. The LPT scent Yum used to use was way better. I used to kill the bass here on black ribbon tails with LPT. Now the F2 attractant has taken it's place and I can't buy a fish on the new scented worms. Glad I bought a ton of the LPT Yum ribbon tails 2 years ago.
  19. Did u take it off before? Did u cross thread it?
  20. I like Yo Zuri hybrid on bait casters. I think it was Road warrior that posted some info on how it was rated way above its advertised strength. That's why I always used 10# hybrid as it was much stronger than that, plus the diameter was around normal 12# diameter.
  21. Worst thing to happen to me fishing, was losing one of my Dad's lures. I should've never fished it. I've regretted losing it for years.
  22. I actually took back one of my Curado Is today, as I had 3 6:3:1 lefty Curados. I'm gonna stick with my Chronarch 201E5 and hope and pray that the Curado gets a lefty cranker. What was funny, is that when I returned that Curado at BPS there was a guy behind that kept asking if anything was wrong with it and I heard him tell the clerk he wanted to buy it after the return process was completed. He has been searching for one for about a month and referenced that BPS online had them on back order. So at least I made someone's day today haha.
  23. I will definitely be picking up the old black ones on clearance. Why did they go with green?
