  1. DVT, do u recommend using grease on the inside of the spool tension cap or light oil? I always scrub the grease off the inside and put a dot of oil. What do u recommend?
  2. If it's anywhere near as good as the casting reel it's great. Pretty good price too.
  3. When I oil mine I put a tiny drop on an exacto blade. Makes it easier for me to only get a small amount in there.
  4. Bass are delicious if you know how to cook them. Beer batter them and roll them in corn meal and wow....tasty as can be. Can't believe more people don't eat them.
  5. Red or black in muddy water is the deal.
  6. For suspended bass here, we long line some 6Xds and try and plow it right through the school. Works great here on Douglas Lake, even though this lake is notorious for catching tough suspending bass. Flutter spoons also work pretty well too.
  7. The Pro Qualifier seems to be the choice for that budget on here.
  8. Crankbait. You can cover a ton of water with them in a short amount of time. Even if it doesn't get bit, it can fire a school of fish up and get them biting other baits.
  9. I've used Okuma's spinning reels for a couple years now and they are QUALITY. Those Helios reels got some pretty good reviews too. Not sure why Okuma doesn't get more love than what they do. Hell, I'm not sure why I haven't picked up one of their bcs.
  10. Lol. Fine with me.
  11. You're in Abu/Lew's/Shimano/Daiwa country on these forums. Very few Quantum/Aredent/Pfleuger guys but they do exist.
  12. QC issues with the Veritas are almost isolated exclusively to the micro guide version.
  13. I guess it's different for those that just visit here. Try living in this area. No offense to tourists as they support the Sevier County economy but y'all are hell to the locals lol. I actually moved to Dandridge which is 2 towns over just to get away from the mess that comes with being in a tourist town.
  14. Yum pumpkin Ed jig is pretty darn good.
  15. Abu Garcia Veritas. Nice, sensitive, and can be had pretty cheap.
  16. I lost more than a few fish trying to fish cranks with a mh-f rod. Got a MH-moderate action rod and have yet to lose a hooked fish on a crank bait. And that's using the stock VMC hooks everyone complains about.
  17. Lol. Yeah a little over. I looked at a $40k Z9 yesterday. Kate Beckinsale could've been pole dancing in the middle of that thing, and I wouldn't have drooled more than what I was already doing.
  18. Just say no? For me, it's $199. I feel that for that price point, there are TONS of options that will be more than sufficient to keep me fishing with reliable and nice equipment for a long time. My Chronarch Es were the most expensive reels I've ever bought at $199, and I stuck those on Crucials at $159 a pop, and they are d**n fine combos. I think that with the quality and choices we now have at the $200 and below price point for rods and reels, we can get the best of both worlds when it comes to our gear.
  19. Crucial. A d**n fine rod all around and on sale for $119 at TW.
  20. Try AmericanLegacyfishing.com. If you sign up for their newsletter, they give you $25 off a $100 purchase or more.
  21. Works ok, but do a quick dip and that's it. Seems to eat some plastics if you use too much. I ruined a couple Papi Craws that way.
  22. Me too. I've got MAJOR OCD when it comes to my fishing gear and vehicle.
  23. I'd like to go fishing with Kate Beckinsale and my combos would be whip cream and some chocolate syrup.
