  1. If the lake has a spring try to find that and cast around that when the water gets warm.
  2. Abu for me. I'm a Revo fan also.
  3. Is there anything you can do to get these to wobble instead of spinning. I tied 3 on before I could find one that didn't just spin. Any experience on this would be great.
  4. We use a 4 inch senko with a 3/0 EGW offset worm hook Texas rigged for all our little folks when we switch over from what we call bobber klobbing. (Live bait). They catch a lot of fish with this rig.
  5. Specifically in the Susquehanna River we use tubes (road kill camo made by wack worm) and swimbaits. Anything that imitates a crayfish works here as there is a massive population of crayfish in this river. That's what makes this river a world class smallmouth bass fishery. Go get them!
  6. Also while spraying scent into the wind don't tug on superman's cape.
  7. I can pick up one of these at a good price. I have no experience with Halo rods and was wondering if anyone can let me know if they are any good or not. Thanks, Tom
  8. Never used the red PP but I use the bright yellow and green. I always use a Flourocarbon leader and never had any issues catching fish. I do notice that when my leader gets to be about 2 feet long I don't get as many bites. Might just be me but I like my leader 4 to 6 feet. Some guys say straight braid works for them. That has not been my experience. I fish relatively clear lakes.
  9. My confidence bait is a tube. In any river, lake, creek or pond I fish in if there are bass there they will hit a tube. Swim it, drag it, hop it or rip it out of grass. I use an internal jig head and change the weight according to conditions. I fish A lot of different techniques but using a tube is what I have the most conference in. It's not as sexy as some other techniques to fisherman but the fish sure do find it sexy.
  10. Did you know that humans are the only mammal that drinks milk after being weaned. I like to throw a black paddle tail worm in those conditions.
  11. I buy bulk 50 at a time weighted swimbait hooks in the 4/0 1/8 oz. size with the screw lock from eBay. They work great and are cheap.
  12. Try a Hula Stix with a 1/0 gammy egw offset hook on a split shot or mojo rig. You will be glad you did. I use the cylindrical mojo weights while fishing this rig.
  13. I would keep the Jon Boat you have and fish the heck out of it. By the end of the season you will probably be looking for a bigger motor is my guess. In the meantime for fish the heck out of that that thing!
  14. I like the Gambler little otter. Lots of choices out there for post frontal conditions. This has served me well.
  15. I was cleaning out my junk drawer and found out I had $180 in Dick's $10 and $20 coupons. I went and picked up 2 of these rods one medium baitcaster and one medium spinning. They are very light and seem like nice rods. I can't find any reviews on them. Does anyone have any experience with them? Also don't let the clerk at Dicks tell you the coupons expire I just said the manager said they never expire and was fine. Thanks.
  16. With so many diffrent techniques to catch bass what are your 3 favorite baits that you have tied on most of the time? I was bringing to many rods with too many baits so I decided to scale back and make life simpler. Here are mine that I use from spring to fall excluding any top water. I use others but always have these tied on. Some people find it hard to put down the jig but I find it hard to put down the tube for both smallmouth and largemouth. 1. Tube internal jig head. Snap it, drag it, swim it. 2. Texas rigged worm/lizard/creature bait. Craw it. Hop it 3. Shakeyhead. Drag it. Shake it.
  17. I don't fish docks when there are people around them. Some fisherman don't cast as well as others and should not fish docks where there is a chance of damaging someone's personal properly. Hopefully you don't get any damage to your dock or personal property. We as fisherman pay a lot of taxes and fees also and those of us that are the better ones leave a lake or fishing spot better then we found it. Bottom line is you won't be able to stop people from fishing your dock and if you do see them you might just want to politely ask them to be careful casting. By doing that they will probably skip your dock altogether. I could have went an entire diffrent direction here but am from the mind set that you get more with honey then vinegar. Good luck!
  18. Wow! Good for him! A 19 year old kid casting swimbaits to a giant and landing it! I can think of a lot of other unproductive things that 19 year old kids can do instead of that.
  19. Thanks guys. I just ordered one of these. This should do the job.
  20. I have been using an old CD holder for all my spinnerbaits but it got soaked and I am looking for a better way to store them. What is the best way to store them either store bought or homemade that you guys have come up with? Any info. Is appriciated.
  21. I had a Lews spinning reel and did not like it at all. It felt tight not sure if I got a bad one or not but not buying again. I spent a little more and got a Diawa Ballistic 2000 and it is the best spinning reel I have ever used. Hope this helps.
  22. That's nothing. Wait until you have kids and take them fishing. You will always have the magic rod that catches all the fish that they want to use because it catches fish. Or you have to purposely hold back and let them cast to a good spot in hopes of them hooking up. It's all about having fun with friends and family while fishing for me. I love busting on my brother and telling him he knows all the dinks by their first name. Relax have fun that's what it's all about. It's a big world with lots of places to fish. Here is a video I made when I was out having fun with one of my sons last year. I had to play it up because he was catching dinks all day and razzing me. Remember relax and have fun.
  23. I use a 1/0 EGW worm hook on a mojo rig with a Z man hula stickz. It floats up off the bottom and is a fish catcher for me.
  24. Gambler ugly otter or a ribbontail worm.
  25. I just picked up 1/0 VMC spin shot hooks for $2.00 a pack at my Walmart. I got 20 packs. I guess I will be drop shotting more this year.
