  1. Ok guys, I'm iced in and you guys are very knowledgeable. What is your favorite creature bait? Mine has been the baby brush hog. I did very well on them last year. I have never used the full size brush hog they just seem to big for some reason. Also best time to use creature baits? Hot summer is what i was doing. Bring it on!
  2. X2 for the VMC spinshot hooks. I use these hooks with roboworms or lake fork shads. The lake fork shad produced better than the hammer shad for me this year.
  3. Your wife is a shakey head? So is mine! She also gets crankbait sometimes but I always seem to worm my way out of it after I finess the situation. I just don't get her sometimes.
  4. Thanks for all the info. guys. Very helpful.
  5. So I'm looking to get a side scan unit. I am doing the research now on them and am usually a hummingbird guy. From everything I am reading these units are game changers. I fish 3 times a week or so and think this unit will help me locate shad and structure and help me to get off shore fishing more. I have also heard buy the biggest one you can afford. Any real time info. you guys have on these would be great. Thanks, Tom
  6. Thanks guys the silver buddy type but I'm using BPS sonar blades better acton. I catch a bunch on fish on these in the winter when they won't hit anything else. There are all sorts of colors but I only go with sliver or gold.
  7. I'm throwing blade baits here in the cold in PA. I am throwing gold when cloudy and silver when sunny. Do you guys have any preference on this? I seem to be doing ok with this rule. Any info. Would be great. Thanks, Tom
  8. I'm going to not buy as many lures also. I have way too many.
  9. I use braid or flourocarbon line. You can feel a pick up much easier than mono. If you use these you will notice a big difference in feel and land more fish.
  10. I am still at it here in PA outside of Philadelphia. We are catching some bass on a lucky craft pointer 78 jerkbait. Chartreuse Shad color, reel the pause for 20 seconds then twitch slightly that's when they hit.
  11. I use a gopro and it works great.
  12. WD-40 works well on plastics.
  13. I am looking to get a structure scan sonar this winter and have been looking at this touch screen unit from Lowrance. It looks like a home run and very user friendly. Imam usually a Humingbird guy but had heard that Lowrance is better on the side scan. You don't need the additional black box for the structure scan anymore and with the touch screen it looks like this is the way I'm going to go. Any info. on the subject would be great. Thanks, Tom
  14. Lucky craft pointer 78 has been working for me on the outside edge of a milfoil weed line. I will also go to off shore humps with a blade bait this time of year.
  15. I use braid/floro combo until the temps are freezing then go to straight flourocarbon. I like the feel of braid when drop shotting.
  16. I'm in Pa and when the water gets into the 40's it was 47 on Saturday we use jerkbaits and blade baits. We have been having success with a suspending jointed shap rap. This bait will dive to 8 to 15 feet and stay there. We crank it down and stop. All of my bites are when the bait is still. Seems like the smaller baits work better in cold water also. I landed 8 on Saturday cranking down ledges and letting it sit there. Hard for me but productive if you have the patience. Hope this helps.
  17. Thanks for the info. Everyone. Cold water is now until ice over for us so there is a lot of in between. Giving it a shot tomorrow and will go low and slow and see what happens.
  18. Just just stared bass fishing last year and fish a clear lake here in PA there are large mouth and small mouth in there that I target. What is the best way to catch fish when the water gets cold? Do I bang the banks or go to of shore humps? Use soft or hard baits? Just looking to put some fish in the boat for me and my kids. Thanks for the help.
  19. I fish the same kind of lake in PA. We do well with hard jerk baits for smallmouth under there conditions.
  20. Here are some pics of the smallmouth I caught draggng the jig.
  21. Hi everyone, I just joined and have a question. I just started using a jig yesterday for bass and landed 2 smouthmouth over 4 pounds in the lake I fish here in Pa. What is the best way to fish these? I was slowly dragging it over the bottom when I felt the pickup and set the hook. Any info. You can provide would be great. I think I have found a new favorite method! Thanks,
