  1. I use blade baits also. Silver buddy or Binsky works well for me.
  2. The answeres given here are from all different parts of the country. They are what has worked for that individual and are a collective of years of experience on the water. I seek advice/answers from those more experienced than me. If fishing had only one answer to each question there would be a lot more people on the water all with the same rods, reels, lures, bait, lines ect. I love the diversity of answers on here that's what keeps me interested. Diversity and adaptation are what makes this country great. The expression there is more than one way to skin a cat comes to mind. So my advice when seeking advice is to adapt and diversify. I'm also very philosophic when there is 14 inces of ice on my lakes. But I really do believe this.
  3. I love setting the hook on a t-rigged plastic a close 2nd would be throwing jigs into cover and pulling out the big girls.
  4. I was in my yak 2 years ago with my legs hanging over the side with only aqua socks on and a giant snapping turtle came up from underneath me and I quickly pulled my feet in the yak. That was a little scary. While wading the Deleware Rive I've had water snakes go between my legs. Not poisonous but a little unnerving. While bumping fluke off the beach at long beach island we saw a a bunch of hammer head sharks. We were 1/4 to a 1/2 mile off the beach and the swimmers had not idea they were there. We didn't have our shark gear and my buddy hooked a pork chop to try to get one. It didn't work.
  5. Making enough baits to choke a horse. I just made a mold of the "unappealing otter" it's not ugly by any means. But it sure looks that way.
  6. X2 on the lucky Craft. Do yourself a favor and get a lucky craft pointer 78. It will work great and you will catch fish. I only use soft flukes in the summer. Good luck.
  7. I was throwing a blade bait in the spots that were not covered with ice today. I snagged a shad and that was it. Some guys were catching bass on jerkbaits until all the lakes froze 2 weeks ago.
  8. X2 on the power pro. I started using power pro super slick in 10lb. test last year and love it.
  9. 86753o9.....I got the number off the wall.........86753o9........ Sorry all these numbers got me singing. I'm a Gammy 3/0 guy for all my T-rigged stuff.
  10. I have used the flukes for bass but can't really see any difference from the zooms. When I drop shot a gulp minnow I can't keep the perch off of them and in the winter I slay the Crappie under a bobber with them.
  11. I use the Picasso Shakedown with a Power Team lures finicky tickler in various colors. This works great for me and I catch a lot of fish on this rig when nothing else works.
  12. I love the giant bobber guy. I see a lot of surf rod in the lake guys that would love a bobber like that. Funny stuff.
  13. When not catching fish in an area " it sure looks fishey here" When not catching fish in an area " where the heck did they all go?" When fishing with my brother " man you and those dinks are on a first name basis"
  14. I got one of these red and white things called a bobber or something! I haven't used one yet but have seen a lot in the trees at the lakes I fish at! I'm not positive but I think you throw it in a tree and let your lure enter the water from there for a more natural presentation. I am stoked to try this technique this year!
  15. Welcome Ben, if you want to catch numbers and don't have a lot of time I would say fish a senko. Start off wacky and go from there. You will do better in one trip than you did all last year. It's a great technique that will get you numbers of fish. Good luck!
  16. I use 10lb power pro slick with a 6 to 10 lb floro leader for t-rigged plastics, shakey head and drop shot applications. I use 30 lb regular power pro with a 17lb floro leader for jigs. I just think the invisability of the floro helps get strikes. I have never tried punching but am going to give it a try this year and will use a floro leader and see what happens.
  17. Drink your Ovaltime Raphlie
  18. The alligator where I fish bellow like this " yo Paulie! let's get a cheesesteak". I only listen to the radio on Sunday if there is a football game on but I even stopped doing that because every time I did the Eagles lost. I Iike the sounds of nature when I'm fishing also.
  19. I usually do better than my buddy when I use the front of the boat color. It always out fishes any color he uses.
  20. Wow that looks great. I am too much of a whimp to throw a bait that big for bass. If you don't catch any with it just put it on a stringer and walk out with it I bet nobody would know the difference. Good luck with it.
  21. I use the Rubbermaid marked for different plastics and the Plano boxes for cranks and jigs and such. I only have the storage problem in the winter when I empty the boat usually all my tackle stays on the boat. Some of these set ups are awesome.
  22. They don't work for me either T-Rigged weightless in the Milfoil. I save all of my used plastics and one of my winter projects is making senko's. It's the one of the easiest worms to make. http://www.trails.com/how_8825_worm-molds-fishing.html
  23. 1. Get the green light from the wife. 2. Put the plug in the boat. 3. Get off the banks and all the other stuff above and below me.
  24. Try a blade bait. I was out today the water was 41 degrees and I caught 7. Cast it out get a feel for it and how it moves. Then when casting it out pull it off the bottom just a little 2 or 3 flutters and let it sit, repeat this all the way in. Most people over work this bait by pulling if off the bottom way to far. The blade bait in my opinion is the most consistent producing way to fish in the winter. I'm a fan on the Binskey blade bait. Give it a try. Good luck.
  25. Keep at it. It's going to happen again we can't land them all and you have gained confidence in a new technique. You will land a bigger fish with the knowledge you have gained.
