Time to change your PB. I never really tried it in fresh water. I heard the best time to use it is when the water is below 50. I will have to give it a shot after ice out in July.
I've given up on the mighty bite, helicopter lure, banjo minnow, flying lure, vibraspin, and laser lure. I still love pulling hogs out of the slop with my Ronco pocket fisherman though. I don't sleep much.
I caught a commorant under water on a lipless crankbait last year. I saw him pretty far away and he swam a long way under water to hit my lure. That was kind of strange.
I had some success with the scatter rap in the crawfish color. I would reel slow and then speed up to make it dart to the side. I would run it above the weeds before they got too high. With nothing to bump a squarebill off the action was as advertised and it worked for me. I don't know about a deep diving model I like to grind the bottom when deep cranking.
Hard jerkbaits fished very slowly and deep cranks that suspend until the water get warmer. But the ice has to melt first because my cranks don't get down as much when the lake is frozen.
It's a no for me because you would probably kick the bucket after you caught the fish. Some people live to fish but I fish to live and those genies are tricky. I was in a cave one time and found an old lamp. I rubbed it and a genie came out and said I will grant you 3 wishes but your ex-wife will get double what you get. I said I'd like a new car, the ex-wife got 2 new cars. I said I'd like 1 million dollars the ex-wife got 2 million dollars. I thought about the 3rd with and said I'd like to be scared half to death.........
He just won the bassmasters and was very humble and gracious thanking God and his family. He even said he doesn't win many Tournements! He said he was going work his but off for the sport of bass fishing this year. A very genuine guy that will be a great ambassador for bass fishing. Congratulations to Randy Howell a real class act.
I sometimes back reel when catching big smallmouth. It seems I can keep the fish from jumping and spitting the hook. I was told this by another fisherman and it has worked for me.
I use 10 lb green power pro slick to a 6 to 8 lb floro leader when drop shot, t-rigging or shakey head fishing. I like the sensitivity of Braid and using a 4 foot floro leader helps hide the braid. I use 30 lb. green power pro on my jig rod with 17lb floro leader. I use 12 to 6lb all floro when throwing cranks, jerkbaits, swimbaits and flukes. I use 10 lb. mono when throwing top water. This covers it for me and I am kind of a braid junkie. I still hear from a lot of guys that they never used braid and I always think to myself man you don't know what you are missing. I fish mainly clear lakes and never fish straight braid. Hope this helps.

I never won anything but one year I had 2 of my buddies show up to the house after the Super Bowl with blinding lights outside and balloons making my wife think she won the publishers clearing house. I was having a party and she was flipping out when she discovered it was not real I got in a little trouble. Well worth it and she never ordered another magazine again.
I am looking forward to the ice out. The last 2 winters we fished straight through so it's not always this bad. Plus we don't have any heads floating in the lakes I fish from the cartels.
Same. With a C-Rig you are using a lighter wire hook so sweeping works best for me. When deep jig fishing the hook is thicker so to drive it home I remove the slack then cross the eyes. I use braid to floro for both these techniques.
It seems like fish turn on and off throughout the day. When you catch one you seem to catch more. Not sure if it's a scent thing or a feeding frenzy. I will spray with bang or rub a bait with megastrike after I catch a toothy critter to get the preditor scent off. Not sure if it's for the bass or me but I do it. If on a school of smouthmouth on a hump I will live well the bass until I am done. It seems like they shut off if let go right back into the school like they are warning the other fish somehow through pheromones or something.
