  1. I like Bill Dance's show. It brings back memory's of when I was a kid on Saturday morning watching these shows with my pop. He still seems to change with the times pretty well. The last show I saw of his he was talking about micro guide rods and braid line. Still very informative and tries to explain techniques in a very understandable way. I bet a person new to bass fishing could watch one of his shows and go out and use the technique he showed them and catch fish.
  2. The baits look fine. Lose the rig and tie directly to your line. Cast it out and experiment with different retrieves. Your first cast should be far out as you can get it and let it sink. Watch your line for anything diffrent a fish might hit it on the fall. You have a better chance catching a bass or crappie without the rig. You will not need any type of metal leader for either of those fish and will get a better feel for what the lure is doing and what's around like weeds or rocks. I would use 6 lb. test mono on my reel if just starting. This is a good starting point. Remember to have fun, you will get the hang of it. Now nobody has to say good luck to you anymore as you are starting to become a skilled angler. Tight lines!
  3. I sometimes bring a small radio out with me to listen to the ball game while fishing. I have never noticed any difference in the bite.
  4. 3/0 EWG Gammy for me too.
  5. I thought the bananna thing came from peels on the deck of the boat and causing a slipping hazard.
  6. Catt you fish with Chuck Norris? That's awesome! Saw blades are a little crazy. You should report this for the safety of anyone that uses this lake including him. Wow.
  7. Congrats! I have 3 I was a Revo guy but these are better. Tight lines with it!
  8. A prop bait is a good lure to start topwater fishing. The Heddon torpedo is a good starter and easy to fish.
  9. I use flourocarbon leader all the time with braid. Floro is less visible to the fish than straight braid.
  10. I seem to do be doing well on them 55 degree water last Saturday. I am using the double fluke rig. Give it a shot.
  11. None. I have never done this just trying to learn as much as I can. But thanks for the reply.
  12. I use 10 lb. PP super slick with an 8 lb. flouro leader for my shakey head setup. This works great for me.
  13. Has anyone done this when on a school of fish? I have seen some of the TV guys do this because they say when releasing a fish back into the school they set off an alarm through pheromones or something and the bite shuts off. I have never done this but was wondering if anyone has or if this is just a myth.
  14. Spring = lipless crank Summer = robo worm on a drop shot Fall = jig Winter = LC pointer 78 If I could only fish one lure per season this is what I would go with. Fine print also says subject to change and must be present and on the water to win.
  15. It looks full of eggs. I'm thinking 10.10 lbs. it would also beat the crap out of any bass we catch up here in the north.
  16. It does happen everywhere, my wife cuts me off and starts yapping, my wife's mother cuts me off, my wife's friends cut me off. I usually get sick of it a go fishing. I always will motor around bank fisherman but see it happen all the time. Some people like recreational kayakers don't know any better because they don't fish but some do. If someone is fishing the bank that is their spot and I have 2 motors on my boat so I never have a hard time finding another spot.
  17. How about a trailer hook. I don't leave home without them.
  18. I finally know what they are talking about when they say ripping lipless out of weeds. I was using a med/heavy rod with 30 lb. braid to a 14 lb. flouro leader. I had a very good day on the water today doing this with a silent rattle trap. I was using too light of a setup before to be able to rip out of the weeds. Most of my bites came right after I ripped it out of the weeds. This was really fun and I'm glad I finally got the right setup for this very productive method.
  19. I mainly fish for bass but am not opposed to picking up my ultralight to feel some crappie or whaterver tugging when I'm not getting any bass. We call it perch jerking. My brother turns to perch jerking a lot quicker then me and than changes to bass again when I land a nice 4 lber.
  20. I use round style shakey heads. The Picasso shakedown is my go to with a powerteam finicky tickler on it.
  21. If I have followers but no takers on a jig I throw a follow up bait usually a wacky rigged senko. If the fish are going to bite this usually gets it done.
  22. No more baits! No more rods! No more reels! I think I can, I think I can I think I can.....
  23. There was a local study here done on 2 similar lakes. On the first lake they just observed the water temp., moon phase and length of day. On the 2nd lake the biologist placed an underwater speaker system in the water and played some Barry White. It was observed that every fish spawned in the 2nd lake that season. Go figure.
  24. I like the craw colored scatter rap. I have had good luck with them.
