  1. " you should have been here yesterday we killed them!" My instant reply is you should have been here last week! And the proverbial " dude this thing is moving and its big!" When the big one is brought to the boat it is a stick. That is always good for the rest of the day.
  2. If I only had to bring one it would be a wacky rigged Senko on a medium spinning rod combo with 10 lb PP slick to 8 lb. fluorocarbon and a 1/0 gammy octopus hook. The other 10 rods on deck are just ornamental.
  3. I've had 2 pairs of Tevas and like the feel and traction in the water but both pairs the strap came undone from the back of the sandal. Has anyone else had this problem? I think I am going to try something else this year.
  4. How about a road trip up north? There are a lot of us Yankees up here in lager more condensed areas. I bet you would get more people to show. Just a thought.
  5. I think I would be okay with a bare hook in a survival situation. I could find something to bait it with all those critters around to catch some fish. I looked for snakes in caves in another part of the world for a couple of years so a little swamp I'd be fine. Is it really that cold in NY already?
  6. I was on Van Sciver today and landed 4 largemouth on a Blade Bait. All the jumbo perch you wanted also. Nice day to be out.
  7. I love the Koppers live target frogs. I also catch a lot of fish on the crappie and bluegill cranks. There lures and no gimmick in my opinion. I get them when they are on sale at Dicks's. Then again I fish them on my "Ron Popeel Pocket Fisherman" so what do I know.
  8. What he say????? i missed it. What he say????
  9. STELLA!!! STELLA!!! Noice.............
  10. I wacky rigged a lake fork magic shad this year and did well with it.
  11. I started ice fishing last year. Mostly crappie and gills. Once is a while we would catch a bass. We use little spoons with a fly teaser tied 4 inches off of one of the trebles. This killed them last year. I would also bring an axe and use this to cut through holes that were already there. I did get an auger this year to be able to cut some holes. It's fun and beats sitting on the couch. Good luck!
  12. I was dock hopping this morning and cast this lure running it very slowly and pausing it for a long time. I caught a 4 lb. bass and a bunch of crappie. This lure has become one of my cold water favorites I use the small one that is blue and white with an orange belly.
  13. Are you sure you don't walk around the lake with a weapon to find these items? The only thing I find are skunks and trees.
  14. I use eating as a tactic when the bite is slow. Whenever I decide to eat a sandwich I get a fish. They are know as sandwich fish and somtimes save the day. You guys know what I'm talking about. It happens all over the country at every time of year.
  15. I'm a black & blue guy also. No matter what the time of day cloud cover or not this seems to produce the best for me.
  16. What is your all around best blade bait size? I use mostly 1/2 ounce when I go down to 1/4 ounce I only seem to get perch on them. I can catch large mouth, smallmouth, crappie, pike, walleye and just about anything else that swims on a 1/2 ounce. Was wondering if going to the 1/4 ounce would help when it's really cold out. What do you guys think?
  17. Glad you had a good season. I'm on the lake until it freezes. If we are lucky it won't!
  18. Because it's all about that blade bout that blade lots of trebles.......it's all about that blade bout that blade...... Just start singing this song.
  19. Sometimes the loudest speaker in the room is he one that says the least. I value what everyone has to say here and have learned a lot. Different points of view are what makes life intresting and inspire people to challenge themselfs and build better mousetraps. I take what I can from each post and try to figure out where it could apply to me. I'll be quiet now.
  20. Looks like some of the craw colored baits I have. Winter craw comes to mind. Good color.
  21. Really funny. You would have thought someone in that video would have known what a bass looked like. Although the drum always does carry the bass line.
  22. People that don't fish as we do don't use scales. I hear the 6 lb. mark often as I am walking around my local lake and it usually comes from someone using a surf rod or similar set up. They also tell me they catch smallmouth in a lake that does not hold smallmouth. I had a fella tell me the biggest bass he ever caught he caught in th Schuylkill river. I said "wow that's great! How much did it weigh? He said 13 lbs. 6 oz. I said wow that is awesome! I didn't have the heart to tell him the Pa state record was 11 lbs 3 oz. Perception really does drive reality. More 4 and 5 pounders for me.
  23. We would fish the warm water discharge at the power plant in Trenton years ago. Not sure if it is run as much now but that is where we would find them in the winter.
  24. I'm in! I have no idea what it is but looks very intresting. How many different ways can you catch a bass? I love this place!
  25. 10lb Power Pro slick with an 8 lb. flouro leader and a VMC spin shot hook.
