  1. Dude us Yankees already know your Secret! We already used it to wipe out every 14 lb. bass in the entire northeast years ago. We caught every 14 pound bass there was from here to Canada On that sucker! There are none left! I don't blame you for not letting your secret out down south! Now we need to catch 3 fish to land 14 lbs! It sucks and I wish I could go back in time and change the past but I can't. By the way welcome and thanks for posting. PS: I think you are eating a trophy.
  2. After about 4 months of use I wanted to post a review for anyone thinking about getting one of these. The electric steer takes some getting used to but after a few outings you have it down the footpedal buttons are kind of small but I have learned to adjust to that. Some people say they use the remote exclusively but I find using a combination of the foot pedal and remote works best for me. I have recorded tracks and played them back and it follows the track very well. The spot lock feature was the reason I got this trolling motor and it works very well. I have read the GPS accuracy is not that good and won't keep you tight to a spot. I always throw a marker on the spot I want to fish and set the spot lock up wind from it. If you face the boat into the wind and hit the spot lock as the boat stops its forward progress the spot lock works well. So after 4 months of use my initial thoughts are if it broke tomorrow I would go out and buy another one. This by far has been the most helpful piece of electronics I have bought for the boat. It has put more fish in the boat then anything else I have including side and down scan. Next review will be with the ilink to my hummingbird electronics. Hope this helps someone.
  3. I have canned beer. If I lose power I will dunk it below the thermocline to keep it cold. I'm also a werewolf so I'm down with a blood moon.
  4. 1/8 oz. 3/0 belly weighted swimbait hook. I like the screw lock type.
  5. This is spot on. Find the bait and find the fish in the fall. Sometimes we spend more time looking for bait in the fall then fishing. Because when we find bait it always pays off. Our top producers are lipless cranks and jerkbaits. Usually deep diving jerkbaits. Good luck.
  6. That will make your trip memorable. Good work. Now get the fish back in the water and try not to lay them on the ground if you are going to release them. They like to stay slimey. Kind of like my friend that sings at lounges.
  7. If you want to try using lures and not live bait look up "wacky worm" on here. It's and easy effective technique that will catch you some fish. you can also catch some big bass this way. You will soon be on your way to becoming an avid bass fisherman! Good luck and remember to have fun!
  8. Myself and my brother were taking out a cousin of ours that was in from Ohio and does not fish much. My brother was at my house and my cousin showed up. When we left in the truck to go to the lake my brother pulls out a bandanna and tells my cousin to put it on as a blindfold. My cousin says "are you serious?" I in a very serious tone said yea we're serious about our fishing and can't let anyone know where lake X is so just put it on until we get to the lake. He did a it! We did everything we could do to not burst out laughing while we were in the truck. The lake is 2 minutes from my house and we said take it off. When he realized we were at a lake he has been to many times before he just started laughing. We asked him why he put the blindfold on and he said you guys seemed really serious like you were some kind of Philly mobsters or something. We laughed our ass off all day and still to this day he says never go fishing with those 2. I am always willing to help someone fish but stop short of telling them spots that I have found by putting time on the water in at.
  9. LC jerkbaits are my favorite. They out perform any other jerkbait I have used. They are worth the money. Welcome to the club! I won't put it up but AJ has a site that I spent my kids college tuition on! I'll let him ruin your kids future if he wants. Lol.
  10. What is the best way to fish the Ned rig? I have been trying it to no avail. Any help with presentation would be really helpful. I just can't seem to get a bite on this. Thanks.
  11. I just use one of there. It's a CD case. I'm not that fancy and it works well for me.
  12. I found a submerged tree with my side scan and there are fish in it. I was throwing a jig and no takers. I put a tube on and landed a 4 lb. bass. I got snagged and lost a lot of tubes. My question is what is the best bait to run through the submerged branches? Tree is in about 15 and runs to about 20 feet of water. Should I T-rig a creature bait or something else? The tube has been killing it for me this year but won't work here. Thanks for the info.
  13. Welcome Trey. You name sounds like you should be on the elite circuit! Sounds like you are heading the right way!
  14. Welcome! Lots of great info. from all over the country here. Very nice ride.
  15. Nice! kids is a candy store. That will make your day.
  16. So I got a tattoo of a spider on my calf when I was 18. ( young and stupid) I am 50 now and my wife of 25 years says you should get that covered up. It never really bothered me but I know it looked stupid so I agreed and off we went. We got to the tattoo parlor and I was talking to the artist and he says he can do it. Just make sure it is something you won't regret later. I let him know what I was thinking and we make an appointment for today. This is what came of it. The guy was really cool and couldn't believe how well it came out. I haven't let any of my 5 kids or anyone else know I no longer have a spider on my leg. I want to see their reactions. I couldn't be happier with the result. no longer can my mother-in law say "there's a spider on your leg". I am a bass fisherman!
  17. Wow that is really cool that he got to do that. Great pics!
  18. I use yellow power pro super slick 10 lbs braid with a 5 foot flourocarbon leader. I also cut a V into a thick black sharpie and run about 12 feet of the braid through it. I'm a line watcher and the yellow is easier to see for me. The flouro serves two purposes one being that it is invisible in the water and two it is easier to tie a lure to quickly. Never fished straight braid but this seems to be the best of both for me. No issues spooking fish as far as I can tell. I still haven't caught anything this way but... Just kidding I slay them this way. Good luck.
  19. I thought fish hold on 10 times longer to powerbait products? I also heard gulp out fishes live bait? No? Fish however you want as long as you are having fun and enjoying what you are doing. Try to stay conscious of your surroundings and keep an eye on your line while using live bait as to not gut hook them if you are going to let them go. For me there is much more to fishing then catching fish. Have fun.
  20. This. Especially the Lucky Craft pointer 78.
  21. I also have an escape tackle bag always ready to go. I grab 2 rods my bag and roll. If I want to get on the water quick I throw the yak in the back of my 1999 F-150 I picked up 4 years ago just for driving to and from the lake with my yak. It has served me well for many other things also. If I want to go fishing I'm going. Sometimes I will put my vest and old sneakers on and head to the creek to wade some creek smallies. I guess what I'm saying here fella's is "my name is Tom and I am a FishAholic". Wow it felt really good to say that out loud. Anyway thanks for letting me share.
  22. The fish had to take a swipe at it to get hooked. It counts.
  23. I've had a good summer fishing with both numbers and size. What do I think the main reason is? I forced myself to look for structure off shore. I have always been a bank beater would try off shore and when didn't catch anything move back to the shore. This year I just kept moving from spot to spot off shore. It paid off big time. I don't even want to go back to the banks now. Lots of great info. And people on here that have helped me tremendously. Tight lines.
  24. I started doing this and hooking up more. My wife got a little upset with all the frogs and insects that the Lilly pads drew that I was sleeping under.
  25. What's the deal with this technique? When is the best time to employ it? I have never tried this would a chatterbait be better for this? I want to give it a shot but don't know when would be the best time/ situation. Any info. Is appreciated.
