Try jerkbaits not too big not too small. LC Pointer 78 is what I use this time of year. Jerk, jerk long pause........small twitch is the cadence I use this time of year. The hit usually comes on the small twitch. Don't forget the blade baits if not to weedy. Good luck.
I just Picked up a spool of this in 10lb. test. It looks pretty good. I am a power pro slick 8 guy but this looks like a cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any experience with this braid?
I am going to Sanibel Island Flordia in April and am going to go snook and redfish fishing. Last year I bought a nice used combo at one of the local tackle shops but it would have cost too much to ship back. One piece rod. My question is does anyone know if a good telescopic rod that would work for this application? I just have no experience with these rods. Any info. Is appreciated.
I want to drag a tube on the bottom this year during pre-spawn. Do you think I should just use a tube jig put it on a shakey head or something else? I'm leaning towards a shakey head. (Although I have never put a tube on a shakey head before) Let me know your thoughts. I killed it all year last year with a tube so I may be bias here in my thinking.
All good answers here. If you are just beginning and want numbers X2 on the wacky rigged senko or stick bait. If the ponds you are fishing are weedy try A senko t-rigged both wacky and t-rigged presentations are weightless. Best bet for numbers is a 4 inch senko. If t-rigged use a 3/0 offset EGW hook. If wacky rigged use a 1/0 octopus style hook. Hope this helps.
I received some of these as a gift over the holidays and have never used them they look kind of odd for a lipless crank. Does anyone have experience with these? Any info. Is appreciated.
Looks like this weekend I will be drilling some holes! I drill so many holes some of the other guys want to stick their rods in my ice hole! I never mind and somthimes invite some of the guys to drill some holes! Is it spring yet?
I'm gearing up for the season. What do you think is the best all around drop shot weight? I usually fish this technique deep and am thinking 1/4 oz. should serve me well. I really like to feel the bottom when drop shotting. Let me know what you think.
I hear ha brother. I went looking for open water today. Saw 3 guys on the ice with PDF's on. Not worth the risk for me. Heading into the high 50's this week.mshold be lots of open water next weekend.
I really gotta fish this rig more this year. I fished it a couple of times last year and didn't set the world on fire or anything. I think it became a confidence thing where I had more confidence in a different lure. I guess I am in the minority here.
Winter is setting in and I was thinking. Has anyone tied a feather teaser ahead of a fluke or swimbait for bass? I have been thinking about doing this. We kill it for weakfish on this rig and was wondering about bass. The premise is fish chasing bait to stimulate feeding. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
We only use ours when ice fishing. We watch the fish snub our offerings but it's lets us know if they are there. In order to see anything with those thngs you need to be right on a spot and if you are on the spot the fish are off of it. I guess you could use to scout areas and come back. I have a side scan for that.
This is spot on. Ice is unsafe in my area. It did not have enough time to properly freeze and anyone that tries to fish it is a disaster waiting to happen. I'm keeping my ice fishing gear in the shed for now. Don't mess with Mother Nature.
We finally had a cold snap here in the northeast and I have not been out on the boat in a week. I was teased all winter with the above average temps. and I took full advantage of it. I have had one of the best winters I've ever had. I guess what I'm saying guys is I miss it I think I have some reel issues with this whole bass fishing thing. I might be addicted and am thinking about checking into a rehab. Last night my wife had me walk into what she called an intervention. Some of my old friends were there telling me crap like "you used to like playing basketball with us and now we never see you. They all said they were all worried about me. I got really defensive and started organizing my plastics. It got so bad that they brought in my mom and she was all like Tommy you always were bright and happy with lots of interests and now all you do is sharpen hooks organize all your little plastic things and such. I had to grab a rod just to feel safe. I mean here I was thinking I was fine but not seeing what I was becoming! Anyway it ended and everyone told me how much they loved me and would do anything to help me. That night I got to thinking that I might have some reel problems. I just can't stop looking for that one big hit from a 6 pounder. I can't stop chasing it or thinking about it. I've decided to make some reel changes in my life. I'm getting a new bass boat. Thanks for listening only guys like you who have lived it really can understand.
How about trying a t-rigged 4 inch senko with a weightless 3/0 EGW offset worm hook of your choice. This is very weedless and will let you know if there are fish in the area you are fishing. You will slay them now! Above all else remember to have fun!
My year was great! Just like every other year. The older you get the more you just enjoy being out on the water. Some days you catch fish and some days you don't. After taking my wife out fishing with me a few times this year she finally realizes how patient I really am!
Has anyone thrown this in the winter instead of an a-rig? We are hitting 50 on Saturday and I am thinking about hitting the lake. It seems like it would be easier to cast for long periods of time. Any info is appreciated.
The guys at my club are killing it with this rig. What is the best swimbait to put on these? I have not thrown this a-rig yet. I'm thinking small pre-rigged storm swimbaits. Easy on and off. Let me know what you think.
