I am heading out tomorrow morning. A cold front moved in 2 days ago and it will be overcast with a shower here and there. Water temp. is in the low 70's and dropping. I'm thinking all topwater all the time or do you think I should throw a Shad colored crankbait or just slow down and drag a jig? I'm thinking the front has been around a couple of days so they should bite something moving. Am I on track here?
I had the same problem for years until I stopped beating the banks in the summer. Low and slow is the ticket for me in the summer and when you find them they seem to be in numbers. Way to stick with it. In my area it seems like the summer pattern is already over and the bass are starting to chase again. Good luck and you will soon be rewarded for all your efforts.
I always struggle to find bass and my wife's butt never looks big in anything she asked if it does in. You mean like that Sam? I think I have this one down.
I changed to 10 lb. PP slick from 15 lb. regular PP and love it. I use it on all my spinning reels. The 10lb. Slick cast a lot better for me and I have had no issues with break offs. I use it in sparse weeds on my shakey head and drop shot setups.
Does anyone use deep diving jerkbaits in the summer. This is a thought I had for suspending bass and was wondering if it works. I have some deep diving pointers I was thinking about trying. Any info. is appriciated.
I use flourocarbon line when cranking and a medium casting rod I don't seem to lose any fish that have committed to my bait. I try to keep it simple. There are a lot of guys here in Philly that have lost all of their teeth from cranking too much.
I catch a lot of smallmouth dragging a senko behind me while casting with another lure drifting a river in my 12 foot Jon. That's what we call dead sticking. If throwing out a lure and letting it sit for 30 minutes I think I would rather just join the bucket brigade and cut some bait.
I picked up 2 of these today at Sports authority today on sale for $20.00 a piece. I would have gotten more but these were the last 2 they had. They are medium 66IMF and seem to feel okay. Anyone have any experience with these? I will be using them for guest on my boat. Thanks for the info.
I'm a green pumpkin and black & blue guy most of the time. I remember as a kid having some grape scented purple worms that smelled delicious! I don't think I ever used them but they sure did smell good.
Has anyone used a shad colored tube? If so what brand? I am Looking for a good Shad colored tube to try in some lakes that I go to. These lakes are heavy with Shad so I am thinking this would work well. I am always wanting to try ideas that pop into my head. Any info would be great.
I feel like I missed the spawn with all the rain and cold weather here I'm thinking it is the post spawn period around here. I was out Friday and the water was only 64 to 68 but am thinking the majority of fish have already spawned. I found some fish on the deeper side of the weedlines in 15 feet of water or so. Am I right?
Try a zoom swimming fluke with a 4/0 screw lock 1/8 oz. weighted belly hook. Cheap, fairly weedless, durable and effective. You can get these items at Dicks's or one of the other stores. I have never really had much success with Storm stuff except in the salt. Hope this helps.
I bring around 12 rods with me on the boat when I go out. Sometimes I don't even pick up some of them if I hit a pattern that's working. Do you guys bring that many rods or do you bring less and tie diffrent baits? My thought is that I just need to pick up a diffrent rod to try a diffrent technique rather than changing baits. What do you guys do?
My wife's cross stitch scissors. If I lose them the scissors that are in the kitchen that everyone uses to cut things open with. If they get lost I then go to the steak knives that I also use to prune the bushes. After that I break out the floss and use the cutter on the end of that. If that dulls I use the finger nail clippers.......... I ran electricity to my dog house because it seems that I am always in it and wanted it a little more comfortable. If I run out of everything else I will use one of the Boomerang snips I have but only if I can't find anything else in the house.
