  1. II fish many clear lakes that are filled with weeds…stick to soft plastics texas rigged or whacky rigged as well as topwater frogs. Swim jigs are also another great option..
  2. Check out bogbaits.com and their snakes... You won't be sorry!
  3. Theres many theories about the origin of the banana boat superstition. The one i hear the most is that when people on ships were done eating the bananas, they would throw them overboard and since the peels float it would allow pirates to track the ship. They would then proceed to loot it of all its valuables. I was deep sea fishing in aruba once and we had gone 3 hours without a bite. My dad takes out a banana and the guide grabs it out of his hands mid bite and throws it overboard. Ten minutes later we had a 40lb wahoo in the boat. Go figure….
  4. Smallest-Fly fishing, so however small some of the bass flies are Largest- 13 inch gambler ribbon tail worm
  5. A nice big single Colorado bladed spinnerbait slow rolled
  6. On the hollow body's, it's more of a light sweep than a constant reeling motion
  7. absolutely, I've caught a lot of frog fish in the lake/ponds around here literally just dragging it back and pausing it. In fact, that's how I start my retrieve
  8. I don't live in Florida, but the 68 weedless Hudds in a shad pattern should work extremely well down there. I also would be shy about throwing a big spook style bait like a lunker punker!
  9. I mostly won't be using spinnerbaits that heavy and my texas rig will usually be 1//16-1/8oz depending on the wind. I might even go weightless with the big worms
  10. Hey guys- I'm in the process for buying tackle for the new place in Florida and was wondering if i could get some input from you guys! On a 400-450$ budget, i need a medium heavy fast action rod for spinnerbaits, texas rig soft plastics, and swim baits such as the gambler big EZ. To go with that, i was thinking a 7:3:1 reel. I also need a nice spinning rod for weightless flukes, senkos etc.. as well as some lighter rapala plugs/floating minnows.I also need a good reel What are your suggestions on some good quality brands and products that would fit into that budget? In other words, what would your combo of choice be? Thanks!
  11. I'm going out tomorrow throwing the yellow perch hudd and am still looking for my first fish of the year…. Hopefully i have the same success you did Grizzn!
  12. Talk about encouraging results! Thats very cool, congrats! Not a bad fish either….
  13. Also, i found a full size female hard gill on swimbaitcity.com
  14. I'm a die hard red wings fan, but I gotta say this game is pretty d**n exciting!
  15. Hey guys, I am looking to buy two or three combos for my place in florida and am having a dilemma as to what combos and what lb test line i should use... I am mostly fishing in winter/early spring down there, so i am not getting a heavy action rod. however, i am getting a medium action, medium heavy action, and a good spinning rod. What i am stuck on is what lb test BRAID for the medium heavy rod? Ill be throwing big worms, paddle tail swim baits and spinnerbaits. I feel like 30-40lb braid would be ok for swim baits and worms in grass, but is it overkill for spinnerbaits?
  16. I posted that because i have read before that some people who fish texas rigs prefer the slower ratios because they feel it helps them fish slower. That is all. Just trying to help.
  17. The only thing is that i would be careful to fish as slow as possible with that setup. Remember, you want to slowly move that worm along and with a 7:1 reel, it might be a little more of a challenge
  18. I picked up another x-rap tonight as well as a 1/4oz chart/white chatter bait with a gold blade. I also got a 3/8oz frog colored chatter bait, it has no flash so would it produce? I would be able to cast it farther than the 1/4oz one
  19. What blade configuration should the spinnerbait have? The weeds probably haven't started growing yet and the water has 2-3 ft visibility. For slow rolling I was thinking a big gold Colorado blade??
  20. Thank you A-Jay!
  21. Hey guys- I am heading out to a small pond tomorrow (maybe15-20 acres). I don't know the water temperature, however the last 3 days it has been 62-68 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be 67. I am guessing it might be 50 degrees?? Either way, what are some lures i should throw? I know it is about location but i am stuck to the bank. Also, i know this pond has some pigs in it... Suggestions? Thanks!
  22. I think his secret is that he is smart enough to go to lake Baccarac!
