  1. Just checked these out. They look great and cheap too! Might have to try these, thank you.
  2. Not true. I encourage you to try the Denny Brauer chunk. It litterally lifts the jig so that it stands in a defensive craw position.
  3. That post by Strikequeentiff was from me, sorry. That's my wife and I posted that while logged into her account.
  4. What other jig trailers float?
  5. Thanks! This looks interesting. I love trying new and different things. I am gonna try this out for sure.
  6. Hey, I'm from Rochester too. I live in Ontario right now but lived in Greece for awhile. Nice to see fellow locals on here.
  7. Yeah you can do it. It's just the angle that you're setting the hook changes and to me feels awkward. Plus it's gets tiresome to sit for hours at a time. But yeah that video was sick. It was weird how shallow they all were.
  8. When I bought my kayak, an emotion kayaks renegade, I was looking for wider kayaks that I could stand in because you can't really pitch and flip sitting down. It's awkward anyway. What I would strongly suggest is find a kayak that is designed to stand in. Checkout the wilderness systems ride 115. Search for it on YouTube. There are some excellent videos showing its stability while standing. Otherwise you'll have to get good at roll casting. One tip for this is cast with about a foot of line from rod tip to bait. You're likely to not hit the water or anything else and once you get good you can cast it almost straight in front of you.
  9. What's funny is that if you're anything like us which I'm sure you are, once you start with something, anything, you'll find that the overwhelming feelings will turn into obsession. You'll be drooling. Tossing in your sleep. Glued to the Internet and bassresource. What you once thought was overwhelming will start to come together and you find that you can't get ENOUGH information. If I could only have one rod setup it would be a 7ft mh bc with 40lb braid. Braid floats so you can use it for top water and frogs. It's also strong as heck so you can pitch jigs in heavy cover. It's also perfect for t-rigging which if I could only use one style of fishing it would be that. If you're worried about visibility you can always use a flouro leader. God I can't wait to go fishing
  10. Could you elaborate on this boca bearing upgrade? What, where, how?
  11. I have both and the s is just as nice a reel I think. Mine is really smooth and spins for a long time. I got the sx because I wanted a 7:1 reel. Both great reels though. Just ask the clerk to compare some before buying.
  12. I use 17lb for pitching soft plastics. Casts great and no break offs. However I bought some 12lb and started having break offs so I went back to 17lb and love it. I even tie a Palomar knot with it and still no breaks.
  13. I just bought this seeing that it won't be like chucking a cinder block like a full A rig. Anybody use one of these? I'm really hoping I get lucky and catch two fish on one cast! http://www.***.com/Yumbrella_Double_Up_Rig/descpage-YDUR.html
  14. I've used the 7/16 head with the biffle bug and pitched it at docks, jerking the bait short and quick to give it an undulating effect as I reel it back. Caught a bass on almost every dock as I drifted past them.
  15. So I tried it out today. Went to the small runoff pond behind my work where my buddy dumped a bunch of crappie last year. I put some on a small white and chartreuse tube and caught 4 of them. I slowly swam the tube and it seemed like they were hitting it very very light but not letting it go!
  16. I just got a tube myself from tackle warehouse. Been reading everyone's posts about this stuff for a while so of course I had to get some. Like you all, can't wait to try it out!
  17. I've been casting mine in the back yard with practice plugs, trying to back lash it and it seems if you put the brake setting around seven (even though there are no numbers on the side, just imagine) it's not easy to back lash. Casts pretty darn nice! Actually I've found that even on my PQ, if I turn off cent brakes and use mag only I still have to put it around 7 for no back lash. These are for long casts mind you. If you are pitching, shoot you don't even need any brakes. Good luck. Awesome reel by the way. I have the new S also. Love them both.
  18. The app is great. It's the same topographical information you would get if you bought a stand alone unit. You can save spots, set waypoints, check speed, and much more. The best part is you get the updates right in the AppStore for free.
  19. I kinda figured as much. Well, I guess I'll be stocking up on tungstens at bps Friday. At least they are on sale!
  20. I'm just wondering if there is a quick way to figure what size weight you should throw with x y z bait. For the moment, I'll texas rig some sort of flippin bait and watch to see if the weight has enough pull to make the tail/paddle/pincher flutter on the fall. If it does I know I can use that weight and heavier. I'd like to find a way to quickly judge in the store so I don't have to spend a fortune on every size weight. Thanks fellow anglers.
  21. Did someone say STEAK?? Like seven succulent steaks? You know what's funny? I'd actually like to try threading a steel leader through a hot dog and put a treble hook on the end and walk the hot dog. If I caught a fish like that I'd laugh my a&% off!!
  22. "unloaded the tank" LOL love it! I'm gonna steal that one from you.
  23. LOL! I think I might actually try this!
  24. I don't know if there has been a similar topic but kind of like hooties show yourself thread, I thought it would be interesting to know what you all do when you're not practicing to be a professional angler. I'll start. I'm an optician at Optimax in upstate ny. We make large, small and everything in between lenses for aerospace, defense, semiconductors and other odd things. I generate the lenses using cnc machines and polish using conventional spindles and rouge. It pays the bills and is 8 min from home. Great company.
  25. Yeah, I think it's easier to cast. And certainly more manageable if you get a birds nest. Also there is no memory like mono so if using a spinning reel you won't get the line peeling off when you open the bale. I'm gonna get that new slick 8 too. I use the regular pp and its excellent braid other than being a little noisy.
