  1. I've used the bps brand beaver baits and out of the package they are stiff and feel as if no fish would ever bite it. However, the first outing where I really gave them a chance I was crushing the bass. Go figure.
  2. I have the 6:3:1 and it's had the problem the whole time. I would try out another one to see if the issue has been resolved but they don't make a 7:1:1 in a left hand retrieve so I'm pretty much set on the SX. Thanks to 21farms by the way for the idea of returning it. As silly as it sounds, I never thought of that as an option. I made this post to find a fix and instead found a better option!
  3. DVT, I tried that. No dice. I even tried polishing what seemed like an area inside the spool housing that seemed to be touching on every revolution. Still no dice. LMG, dang it! I was just talking myself into sticking with the carbonlite. As you can see I give into peer pressure easily. We'll see. I'm gonna head down to bps this week so I have to figure it out soon.
  4. Well I intend on using the sx as a jig rod so I won't be casting far with it at all. 7:1:1 theory being I can get more casts in a day by getting that jig in and out of where I'm fishing it quickly. I called basspro by the way. No problem returning it being under a year! Good news! Now the question is another carbonlite or gen 3 sx? I reel left handed otherwise I would just get the carbonlite in a 7:1:1.
  5. Actually I'm looking to get a gen 3 sx. I would get another gen 3 s but I want a 7:1:1 gear ratio. I hear a lot about the shimanos but as superficial as it sounds, I just don't like the looks of them. Believe me I'd like to try one to see what all the talk is about but man, that new revo s I got is so awesome, especially for the price.
  6. You think they will exchange it for that? If so that would be great. I'm still in my one year period, got it at the spring classic sale.
  7. So I have one of the "grindy" ones and I was wondering if any of you have found a creative way to remedy this? So far I've dissasemed my PQ reel and tried swapping out some of the internals but not everything quite matches up. However I swapped out the small pinion gear between the two and my PQ reel is even smoother now but this makes my carbonlite is even noisier. I kinda like the smoothness of my PQ now but if someone has a way to smooth out the carbonlite I'll put the pinion gear back.
  8. That's good advice nitro. Yeah I definitely get way excited, so much so that I completely forgot my paddle for my kayak back at the house once. Can't get far without that!
  9. Reply to nitrofreak. Yeah I've noticed that those times when my concentration is razor sharp that you get mentally fatigued after awhile. You're right. It is difficult to maintain focus and willfully slow down.
  10. That's funny, that reminds me of when my wife called me when I was on my kayak and I set the hook right then. I was basically holding the phone with one hand, holding the rod with the other and trying to reel the fish with my leg while holding a conversation. Totally awkward!
  11. Jbsoonerfan, that's just an awesome story!
  12. Right, so I've been trying to somehow balance not watching the pot (bait) yet be ready for the cues that the fish has taken the bait. It's a tough balance I'll tell you. Meanwhile my buddy is at the front of the boat slammin slobs which makes it even harder to figure out cause now you KNOW there are fish there.
  13. You know what, that makes a lot of sense. Note taken! Thank you
  14. Why is it that so often when I'm concentrating real hard, paying complete attention to everything I'm doing while fishing that the bites come so infrequently, BUT, when I start to casually drift off in my thoughts and start day dreaming WHAMMO! There's the strike! Anyone else experience this? It happens more often than not to me. And then on the contrary, when I try to reproduce the day dreaming fishing action nothing happens of course. Oh well, I still catch fish even when I concentrate but I just noticed this happens a lot. What are your thoughts?
  15. I love mine. It's super small and light weight but also very smooth with the power to go with it. I also love the white and black. I think it's their best looking revo. The only complaint I have is that there is no gear ratio other than 6:4:1. I have to buy a sx just to get a 7:1:1. If they made the other speeds I would just have all revo s's.
  16. Yeah I would stick with cent brakes too. Especially since you'll be whipping that spinnerbait out there. Cent brakes help with that first part of the cast when you're hurling that bait out there. Mag brakes help so the spool doesn't overrun as it slows down. That being said, the revo s is awesome. Really smooth and solid feeling. If you thumb at the end of a cast like I do, you will never need mag brakes. Good luck.
  17. I'm with Rockchalk on the new revo s. It's small and light weight and looks really good on a veritas. I picked one up a month ago and it's just super super smooth. Just my opinion and not that it matters much but I think they are also the best looking reels to buy right now. Go to basspro if you have one near by and look at all the reels and you'll see what I mean. Good luck.
  18. Just look for wider kayaks. And look at the seating area to see if there is a somewhat flat area to stand. I have an emotion kayaks renegade xt. It's stable, tracks good but not very very fast but fast enough. Just a tip, a drift sock is a MUST!!! Good luck
  19. I stand on mine. It's an emotion kayaks renegade XT. It's really stable cause it's wider than most kayaks but if you want to stand I would recommend a wider one. Also look for one with an easy accessible dry hatch while on board, trust me. Also, you'll want to consider weight cause I'm sure you'll be doing a lot of your fishing by yourself so you want something you can manage and launch on your own. Don't skimp on your paddle either. You'll want a nice light weight paddle so you don't get fatigued. Lastly if you get the chance, sit in the kayak before you buy it. You might find it does or doesn't have acceptable back support for you. All kayaks feel different and you want to be sure you'll be comfortable all day. Good luck.
