  1. i have always done well with powerbait and the store brand biscuit dough. i would use 4lb test with a #8 hook with a split shot about 8-10" above the hook and drift it in streams and rivers. in ponds i would set up a hook with a float 18" above the hook. Most all of the fish were stocked fish and ranged from 6"-25". when i used lures i would always use 2" floating rapalas, phoebe spoons, and mepps/bluefox spinners.
  2. one rod, but i only throw lipless and shallow diving cranks in ponds 8' or less. i use a falcon original spinning rod. i am looking to buy a heavier rod for the lipless cranks though
  3. shimano crucial worm and jig rod. it's 7'2" MH. I use it with 30lb braid throwing frogs and heavy texas rigs. i used it all season and had no problems. I highly recommend it. i have a 3000 shimano on it but will probbaly be using a 4000 next year. good luck
  4. as long as they don't talk their problems and don't talk too much i am fine with them. most of my serious fishing is done alone with the exception of one guy who is just as serious as i am whether it be bass or stripers
  5. i myself fish 2-3 on a consistent basis 3-4 times a week. i like fishing the same lakes/ponds so i can figure out a pattern and learn the lake/pond rather then jumping from lake to lake each time out.
  6. i fished saturday after the wicked cold front. i could not even buy a bite
  7. i use a shimano crucial. best frog rod i have ever used. nice fast tip
  8. as long as their is no ice i will be fishing all year
  9. ill sum fall fishing for me this past week in one word.. SUCKS!
  10. zoom ol' monster in black. also jitterbugs, hula poppers, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits
  11. A guy i know swears by using culprit worms as trailers on spinnerbaits he trims them to fit the bait. i will be trying it this fall
  12. 7.5-8lbs. caught on a watermelon candy 5" yum dinger...pic of the fish is in my avatar
  13. i never used the 10" culprit but i use the 10" zoom ol' monster in black with great success. texas rigged, fished weightless, or fished with a nail weight. they flat out catch fish!
  14. that fish is a beast! she's eating good
  15. beautiful fish! wish we had more smallie lakes by me
  16. I highly DON'T recommend it. i tried it a few times and was not happy with it all. i recommend you stay with the old school stren. why fix something if it's not broken? and as far as people catching more fish because they use fluoro, i think it is all in their heads LOL just my opinion
  17. the sahara fd does not come with a spare spool. the stradic FI did, and now the new stradic FJ does not even come with one, and it is nearly impossible trying to find spare spools from shimano unless you buy one off of someone
  18. this is awesome! making this later for a few rods!
  19. 3 acres is a fairly small size. pending you have good access you could be able to work it fairly quick especially in a boat. i would start shallow first and run spinnerbaits or texas rig the shoreline. if that doesn't work i would fish deeper with cranks texas rigs and spinnerbaits as well. PS do not overlook topwater up shallow. this is a good time of year to be throwing them
  20. i was firm disbeliever in tungsten until i actually used them. the small size of them is great. i will never use lead or tin again when texas rigging with bullet sinkers
  21. i fish northern lakes just like you with the main forage being perch and bluegill, while we are not as cold as you our highs are averaging upper 50's to low 60's and upper 40's at night. let me tell you the bite is tough for me right now! seems a lot of the weeds are dying now and floating up to the surface. the only few fish i managed were on a 10" black ol' monster worm and one nice 3.5lber on a super spook jr. my guess is the water temps here are low 60's. next time out i am bringing a thermometer to check the temp of the water. good luck out there
  22. falcon original. 7' medium action 8-17lb line. the best spinning rod i have ever used for cranks. it has a nice slow taper to it
  23. the roof of a bass' mouth could fray the line. i have had this happen to me especially if the bait was swallowed deep in its mouth the line will rub on the inside on the lips causing a fray on the line
  24. learn to tie a palomar knot to your lure and you will never have to worry about knot failure. no need for leader unless fishing topwater baits with trebles. the leader helps by not having the braid tangle up in your treble hooks. if you decide to use a leader google "alberto knot". the easiest braid to mono/fluoro knot out there and it is strong! good luck but just remember no stretch in braid is not always a good thing
  25. 7" berkley power worm with a small bullet weight above it. my favorite plastic to throw
