  1. The strike king rage tail craw produces a good amount of vibration which is great in dirty water.
  2. I'm trying to get more confident fishing the dropshot rig so i've been reading a lot of articles. In these articles I keep reading that this technique is best in clear water, well i dont fish clear water too often, and im usually fishing around heavy cover. So my question is have any of you had success throwing this rig in murky water ? and if so what kind of lures, line, weights, etc...do you use ?
  3. never really cared for chicken livers that much but if you wrap each chicken liver in panty hose it will keep the bluegill from eating and keep them from falling off the hook....also the scent of the liver will still get out for the catfish. if thats not an option you can salt the chicken livers. put them in a conatiner and put a good layer of salt in between each liver...keep them in the fridge for a few days and it'll make them tough so its harder for the bluegill to eat and also help them stay on the hook... For the rig i pretty much use a modified carolina rig...heavier line but thats about it....as far as hooks id just use any treble...but like i said, not a lot of experience with chicken livers.
  4. I think the original works better than off brands. They're expensive but they work. In my experience they are the one bait that'll catch em when others don't. Wacky rigged or Texas rigged they catch fish, just spend the extra money. It'll be worth it.
  5. Got one on my veritas and i love it. It's smooth, reliable and it doesnt hurt the wallet.
  6. 7ft medium action rod with 15 to 20 pound mono should work. It helps to have a depth finder. Look for shad and other baitfish, stripers follow the food. once you find them use live shad or spoons to catch them. Make your bait stand out, if theyre feeding on a school, put your bait, above, below or to the side of the school. the isolated fish get eaten first.
  7. Patience and slow presntations. Like jigs and finnese baits.
  8. Totally agree with you. Positive thinking is the key to overall happiness in my opinion.
  9. I like how you have a few strands of chartreuse in the skirt, thats often overlooked. Great attnetion to detail and great looking jig.
  10. A swimbait that is a little larger than you would usually use. Fish it SLOW.
  11. Hate it when i lose good fish, it leaves me with a sick feeling in my stomach..ugh. Patience is the name of the game. But good job ! I'm still waiting to catch my first smallmouth, wish me luck !
  12. I recently tried rattlesnake for the first time at a friends house and thought it was amazing ! I'm asking if anybody else here has tried it. and what did you think ?
  13. They've been known to move inshore to shallow water or upstream t spawn in pools. They spawn in the spring though. Depending on the weather they might just be lethargic. There's a lot of them where i fish.
  14. Thats a good looking fish ! Good color. Great job sticking it out through that weather, looks like it paid off.
  15. with that angle id say anything between 4 and 6 like shimmy said
  16. larger swimbaits and i've even seen them on swim jigs.
  17. uhhh i dont know about that, maybe but id have to see it to believe it
  18. lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, swimbaits and jigs. The bass are gonna be feeding alot, especially on shad.
  19. you could thicken the skirt if you wanted to , it wouldnt matter to me because id use a swimbait as a trailer. Just a personal preference
  20. Reaction innovations sweet beaver...
  21. Deflects off of cover very well , I cant think of any disadvantages. Definetley one of my go-to lures.
  22. 1. 5 in senko (watermelon) 2. strike king 1.5 squarebill ccrankbait ( color is a tough choice , either sexy shad or chartreuse black back ) 3. strike king premier plus spinnerbait ( colorado/willow ) in either bluegill or sexy shad . color depends on water clarity.
  23. x2 - work it in a little bit slower
  24. One of my go-to lures . Its great for covering alot of water and finding fish. Spinning gear is fine , but definitely look into a baiticacting gear . ( medium heavy rod , fast tip ) mono vs fluorocarbon is your choice. mono floats , fluorocarbon is more sensitive and abrasion resistant. This site has more great tips.
