  1. Rather than feed the big box stores for jigs , Im curious if there might be some builders of them in here that perhaps sell to folks on the forum? I have paypal and really prefer the quality of homemade goods. thanks, Lee

  6. Thanks man, Ya I will say it makes the trips to bass pro and cabelas alot easier!!
  7. I am not trying to cause a hornets nest here. I'm sure there is alot of opinions on this. The local club I fish with have management days where we clean up some shoreline and its just amazing what we find. Folks I'm talking about abandoned fish on stringers that have been left behind and become turtle food. And nice mature fish here. Hell as a kid we ate us some fish at my house. But never left the banks like this!!! I am a catch and release fisherman. Have no problem with people eating there catch. But at least respect it.....
  8. Education is key. Well said A-Jay
  9. Ya, I here ya on that. And couldn't agree more, lets just say I fish a very public river. And have for a long time. Seems to be getting real worse. Hell I cant say Ive never done it growing up as a kid with my dad. Maybe me just Ranting
  10. For some reason now that I believe Ive become a more serious fisherman. As I'm in my boat fishing and Im watching folks on the bank keeping everything they catch. From the mishandling, metal stringer in 3 inches of water etc etc. If your feeding your family without other means than im for it i guess but I often wonder how much of this fish is never eaten or ruined by sitting in a 5 gallon bucket in the middle of the summer.? I don't know maybe I'm just ranting.... Lee
  11. Thanks so much tom, Ill be using this as a teaching guide for her. As well as myself. Some great tips in this post of yours. And thanks for the rest of the comments on this. But never did I question her skills. I actually was commenting on her abilities as her skills are coming along. And practice we will do. I myself learned right on my boat. I took all my spinning gear off of it and forced myself to learn it. Boy was that a looooong day on the boat!!! Hahaha Thanks again!
  12. I have a three battery set up for my boat ( 2 for my trolling set up and 1 for the boat obviously ) I bought the boat used and it has a 2 bank charger for the trolling batteries which means I use a small battery tender on my 12 volt when not in use. My question is will a 3 bank charger be the way to go? Maybe a dumb question but this is my first boat and I want to keep the batteries as nice as I can this winter. Thanks, Lee
  13. Hey Eric, welcome to the forum!!!
  14. My wife, who happens to be my fishing partner has really dialed in her casting with her spinning gear and has become a decent angler is now wanting to expand into the baitcasting realm of fishing. Now I had to learn myself through alot of practice and alot of cussing and stomping around the boat wondering why I even began using these things. But now I cannot ever see myself without them as my skill set has progressed. But my question to the forum is. Have any of you ever taught a wife or child, maybe even a friend to use one? I'm going to be picking her up a new rod and reel set up this Christmas for her to begin learning and was curious if there is a model that might be easier to get the hang of? A reel that might be easier to cast with less back lashing maybe? She wants to throw frogs with me next season and with her spinning rigs she currently has. They just are not cut out for the 50lb braid that I use when frogging. Any help and teaching techniques would be greatly appreciated. I want to show patience with her but not sure how to start. Thanks, Lee
  15. Doesn't the spawn generally depend on water temperature?
  16. Well I made my first bass boat purchase today. Im so excited!!! I purchased a 2008 Triton Ts-17 aluminum boat. Probably similar to bass tracker. One of the things that I was really drawn to was the motor size. The previous owner opted for the much smaller 25hp mercury 4 stroke. What I like about that is I can now fish one of our large resevoirs here in Massachusetts. ( Quabbin resevoir ) to be exact. Ok heres the question. This motor needs a prop. He had an SS prop on it that he gave to his brother. Folks I have no Idea at all about prop size or pitch I might need. I am completely lost here on what to purchase and I could really really use some help. I dont understand pitch on a prop. I dont understand size or how many blades vs rpm on the motor. I obviously would like the motor tp perform its best to carry my fat a$$ and the wife around. But have no clue at all on what to factor in before I make my purchase. Thanks all..-Lee
  17. Nice Fish!!
  18. My senkos, with light line A jig on braid A lipless on floro. I really would be the most dependant on my senko
  19. My question about casting a drop shot is how deep to set the rig? Now im in a kayak without a side scan. What kind of depth do set this? Is there a standard as far as how deep to fish these when tossing them into the shallows and then working them into deeper water?
  20. No question, A river smallie could pull a house off its foundation. My comparison - Spots are top fuel dragsters. huge blast with a short finish River smallie. The old tractor your grandfather had , Just kept on pulling and pulling and pulling Smallmouth wins that bar fight!!
  21. For me its been a whacked out senko. I first started using this last year and for me to shy away from jigs is really something. But lighter rigs have really become a difference maker for me lately. Now that I have a new fish finder this year. This might be the season of learning the drop shot,
  22. Welcome to the club!!
  23. Ive been a member of this forum for almost three years now. I might not have a million posts, but thats because Im reading yours. I might not put my two cents in much. But thats because Im learning from reading all of the information thats posted by you all.
