  1. I would respectfully disagree on the length. Depending on how much you practice it shouldn't take you that long to get the accuracy down. It's really a matter of finding that right casting motion and release point. I think you'll want that extra casting distance especially with crankbaits since the set is more a sweeping motion and so picking up line would be better. Just my 2 cents.
  2. 3/0 gammy ewg is my go to. Baits I would say pit boss in green/green, black or green pumpkin stick worm, baby brush hog ca 420 and hag's tornado 5" black
  3. Probably because they don't understand it. I've gotta admit although I love how a bass just crushes a spinnerbait that trig bite is mighty addictive and deadly!
  4. I would try a super fluke on a weighted ewg hook with short constant jerks through the grass. Make sure you skin hook the bait. I would start off with a little darker. It's like a white body grey top but I'd get several differnt colors to experiment with. Also a weightless senko t rigged with same motion should work also.
  5. That's another annoying thing about spinning reels the darn bale. Totally agree with the efficiency thing also. Press, cast, reel. The whole switching hands thing has me a little stumped but if it works it works!
  6. I would hear that flouro has little to no stretch until I started reading the research that it does actually stretch but in a different way than mono. I use red label just to get started on flouro and as a leader with braid it's been working great so far.
  7. With your brakes off turn your reel sideways so it's perpendicular with the ground and tip about 11 oclock. With the tension tight ease off the tension and shake your rod slightly until it starts to move. Hope this helps.
  8. I use a 7' mh Veritas and I know it can cast a weightless senko/stick worm no problem. My go to jig size is 3/8 oz and that thing casts like a bullet.
  9. I went from spinning to BCs about almost a year now and I can't stand spinning reels. The main reason is I can't control the distance like I can with a BC. I know a lot of guys use spinning for finesse stuff but I don't really get that. Maybe if I'm throwing a split shot rig with a super light weight and a roboworm but I don't think it'll cast very far even with a spinning reel.
  10. Interesting. If true would be a good way to know.
  11. Freshwater LMB. I always thought the larger tails were sort of like puppies with big paws indicating that the dog would eventually grow into them.
  12. Is there a way to tell the difference between the two when they're about 2-4 lbs? I've noticed some of the 3lbers I've caught look to have larger tails and am thinking that these may be a characteristic of females.
  13. I'm totally barbless. If I lose a fish it's because of something that I did or didn't do and it teaches me to be a better angler. Bass fishing for me is strictly for sport and I place a high value on skill. Also in the case of your buddy it would be a lot easier to remove.
  14. Fragile? Mines seems pretty solid. I dunno never really crossed my mind as fragile. How loose is it is what I'm wondering. Did you take it apart at some point?
  15. I would downsize your weight to 1/8 oz to weightless for a t rig. Try a weightless wacky rig senko also.
  16. I think color is an important factor at least in my experience. Also the t rig allows a lot of versatility for different baits. I'd use a 3/0 ewg hook as a general hook size. Get differnt styles of plastics like stick worms, curly tails, finesse worms, creatures. Try a pit boss in green/ green. Finesse worms try a roboworm in differnt colors. For some reason the bubblegum color (morning dawn, margarita mutilator) gets me bit in clear water. But in general a green pumpkin or black blue stick worm or curly should get bit. I would drag it across the bottom and not necessarily hop it. One thing you may want to try is to keep the rod tip about 9 or 10 o'clock and just slowly reel it in.
  17. It's ok as a mainline. Like others I just use it as a leader now with braid. Been good so far and plenty sensitive for me.
  18. It doesn't to me if I'm bank fishing and just two hand casting. I use a Tatula for my spinnerbait setup and after casting that thing one handed constantly up to a bank with the trolling motor on I sure did miss my Revo SX.
  19. I can throw a DS 4" roboworm with a 1/8 weight no problem. Revo SX with a Veritas 7' mh. I certainly don't need the backbone dropshotting but I've never had an issue throwing that. That was on 15# mono also. I've never tried the reel you use but man I love my Revo. Could be your reel or maybe you're still a little new to BCs in general?
  20. First make sure your reel is set to what you're throwing then give it a little more brake. Start off with a short backswing and get to know your release point. It might feel a little early but with a short backswing any backlash won't be so bad that you can get it out if you do. Do not whip your rod until you start to get the hang of it! Once you have your release point down it's just a matter of increasing your backswing as your release point will always stay the same. Don't even worry about distance. That'll come naturally. As you get the feel you can ease off your brakes or spool tension and you're good to go. I like the advice that Roadwarrior gave about rolling your wrist and having your handle pointing down at the end. I believe that level wind reels work better when the spool is perpendicular to the ground.
  21. Getting plastics that I know the bass will be lining up to bite. Start fishing them and not even getting bit or rarely getting bit. Maybe I should start sacrificing one to get the mojo working.
  22. That's pretty weird advice. I wonder what the logic is behind that. I spooled mine to about 1/16 to the top with straight flouro and never had an issue.
  23. Tried braid to flouro leader on my worm setup about a month ago and never looked back. Line memory is a thing of the past. My only complaint is where you have to join the two lines together and I was a little nervous that it would knock one of my guide eyes out while casting. So far so good.
  24. Heck yeah with or without a weight. Great rod for the money.
  25. That's a smoking deal! I've got two local DSG's and they both have zero fishing gear.
