  2. Except when they get snagged on a log or something. ?
  3. I'd try a fluke with a small weighted hook. Cast it out and then small jerks with your rod about waist level. You want to imitate a fish going through the vegetation. Should get bit and you won't be picking out tins of that stuff
  4. Wow that's pretty thin diameter. 30# braid is like 8# mono? Hey if it works that's all that matters.
  5. the knot that aaron martens ties, forgot the name of it, but i go through the hook twice before i tie the knot. super strong knot and easy to tie.
  6. you gotta pull the tag end through the eye of the hook before you tie it to the weight.
  7. 30# sounds a little too small diameter. i'd go with 50# if you're gonna use a baitcaster.
  8. all my rods are veritas and 1 revo sx reel. the new 2.0 7 3 MH is a pretty stout rod but still sensitive enough. 2.0 cranking rod's been great. love my revo reel also. never had any issues with any of their products. been a pleasure to fish with so far so good.
  9. Do it man. It's the way to go. no memory and the line lasts forever. i just use powerpro braid 50# at walmart. got braid on all my setups. cranking rod just prefer mono leader than flouro but i don't think it really matters that much. my rod is so bendy that it wont rip the hooks out.
  10. Learn the dropshot. It'll put a bend in that spinning gear for sure.
  11. blue/chrome or sexy shad (i think that's the right color) knockers.
  12. Shake, wait, reel in a little. Repeat until you get bit. When all else fails, the DS will put fish in the boat.
  13. The obvious first question is how do you know there's bass in there? If there is bass there, they'll relate to the bottom somehow or they may be under docks on really hot days. Throwing baits in a bottom full of weeds/vegetation is a pain in the arse. Try a weighted hook with a fluke or small swimbait type bait. Rig it weedless so the hook isn't constantly getting snagged. Huck that bait out, let it sink to the bottom and give it a little tug to the side maybe about a foot or so. Reel in the slack and keep repeating the process. So tug, let it sink, tug, let it sink, etc. Don't get any bites after the 3rd cast, cast it in a different spot and repeat. Dropshotting is cool but you'll want to get a weight that won't get so snagged up with weeds and you'll need to experiment with how far you want the bait above the weight.
  14. I use red label and it's been pretty steady. I just use it as a leader with braid and it's been so far so good.
  15. Start with a spinnerbait to locate bass. Once you've found em you can try other baits. With a spinnerbait if you're not getting bit in like 3-4 casts then move on.
  16. Dropshot for days.
  17. Not if you have a chance to win 2000 with it.
  18. I'd say you need to move around more. If you're not getting bit in about 15 minutes move Or change your bait.
  19. Wow these baits are deadly for me. T rigging them actually kills it. My only guess for you is that you might be using a color they're not interested in. I think you can't go wrong with green/green. Also when t rigging work the bait slowly.
  20. If you're tying on a leader to braid the knot might not be going through the guides right. If it does get a little stuck while casting your spool will overrun. If you do have a leader put the reel on a rod with regular guides and see if the same thing happens. If not maybe the reel is bad because with my SX I don't even bother to change the spool tension anymore just the brakes and never have an issue unless the wind is really, really gusting. Id make sure your brakes are set to at least 1/2. No need to got full 100% brakes but anywhere from 8 to 5 you should be good to go. It could be your casting style not sure. I've got the reel on my CB rod and I just two hand blast that thing with no problems. The only time it does get stuck mid cast is if my braid has dug a little from either a big bass or I had to get it I unsnagged with a little pulling.
  21. I would also pick up some knocker traps while you're at it. It gives off a different sound than the regular beads and it can mean a few bites vs a lot of bites. Color wise the chrome blue is a must. I agree the sexy shad is also good. I'd try one with gold in it also.
  22. Fishing my community lake I've actually had people say "Oh did you catch that here?"
  23. Seguar red label is like 13 bucks at Walmart. You could easily spool up 2 reels with it. If I were you I'd spend about 15 bucks for power pro braid and them use red label as a leader. The braid will last you a good while and that spool of red label as a leader will go a lot further.
  24. Forgot to mention of all the ones I hooked up with on the winch only one came unbuttoned and that one was a like a 10" dink which I eventually caught. Very limited time with it but so far so good.
  25. Got the 7 winch and 7 3 mh. Winch only taken it out 3 times and the rod has been awesome so far. I've never had a CB rod before but it loads up very well and has plenty of backbone to haul em in. I've been throwing lipless cranks and have caught over 25 bass ranging from 1 to 3lbers. Casts really well, has a great feel. Plus the free hoodie is nice 7 3 mh. It's thicker at above the reel seat than my 7 0 Veritas. Both mh. This one is a stout rod no doubt. I was a little concerned that the sensitivity wouldn't be as good but it's still there. Using it as a dedicated jig rod. Didn't get hit on the jig so threw trig stick worm. The sensitivity was good. A little different than the old one. I've only used it twice so far with not many bites so tough to say. The one I did hook into was a nice 3 lber and the set was solid. Feels a tad stiffer than my old 7 0.
