  2. Except when they get snagged on a log or something. ?
  3. I'd try a fluke with a small weighted hook. Cast it out and then small jerks with your rod about waist level. You want to imitate a fish going through the vegetation. Should get bit and you won't be picking out tins of that stuff
  4. Wow that's pretty thin diameter. 30# braid is like 8# mono? Hey if it works that's all that matters.
  5. the knot that aaron martens ties, forgot the name of it, but i go through the hook twice before i tie the knot. super strong knot and easy to tie.
  6. you gotta pull the tag end through the eye of the hook before you tie it to the weight.
  7. 30# sounds a little too small diameter. i'd go with 50# if you're gonna use a baitcaster.
  8. all my rods are veritas and 1 revo sx reel. the new 2.0 7 3 MH is a pretty stout rod but still sensitive enough. 2.0 cranking rod's been great. love my revo reel also. never had any issues with any of their products. been a pleasure to fish with so far so good.
  9. Do it man. It's the way to go. no memory and the line lasts forever. i just use powerpro braid 50# at walmart. got braid on all my setups. cranking rod just prefer mono leader than flouro but i don't think it really matters that much. my rod is so bendy that it wont rip the hooks out.
  10. Learn the dropshot. It'll put a bend in that spinning gear for sure.
  11. blue/chrome or sexy shad (i think that's the right color) knockers.
  12. Shake, wait, reel in a little. Repeat until you get bit. When all else fails, the DS will put fish in the boat.
  13. The obvious first question is how do you know there's bass in there? If there is bass there, they'll relate to the bottom somehow or they may be under docks on really hot days. Throwing baits in a bottom full of weeds/vegetation is a pain in the arse. Try a weighted hook with a fluke or small swimbait type bait. Rig it weedless so the hook isn't constantly getting snagged. Huck that bait out, let it sink to the bottom and give it a little tug to the side maybe about a foot or so. Reel in the slack and keep repeating the process. So tug, let it sink, tug, let it sink, etc. Don't get any bites after the 3rd cast, cast it in a different spot and repeat. Dropshotting is cool but you'll want to get a weight that won't get so snagged up with weeds and you'll need to experiment with how far you want the bait above the weight.
  14. I use red label and it's been pretty steady. I just use it as a leader with braid and it's been so far so good.
  15. Start with a spinnerbait to locate bass. Once you've found em you can try other baits. With a spinnerbait if you're not getting bit in like 3-4 casts then move on.
