  1. Any man named Greatest Angler of all Time may have a few pearls of wisdom to pass along to the rest of us. I guess you take what benefits you and forego the rest. I don't subscribe to everything he says but then again who does? Speaking of "The Greatest" I'm sure if polled all of us would have varied opinions of who we have learned the most from. All the greats bring their unique strength which benefits those of us who try to imitate certain techniques they use. Who is the most consistent in catching them in any condition or season? KVD, Chris Lane, Skeet Reese , Ish Monroe, Ike , or Gerald Swindle? This list could be expanded to former pros or current ones depending on perspective . Thanks for the comments ,I learn something each time I visit this site or post on the forum.
  2. That reminds me of something Plato said " The mark of an educated mind is to entertain a thought without accepting it". Point well taken gentlemen.
  3. I was reading a magazine online about Rick Clunn and his Zen approach to fishing. I found the "fish the moment" philosophy very helpful. This has peaked my interest in this approach. Anyone here ever employ this and other tactics when bass fishing?
  4. My biggest bass (13 .2) was caught on a Senko fished weightless. Plastic lures are always my confidence lures, to me the profile and slow retrieve make them easy targets especially for big fish. I've caugh more bass on plastic worms than any other lure.
  5. I think I'm going to try a pack soon, saw a good variety at Bass Pro Shops the other day. Looks like they will be an excellent bait anytime of the year. BTW, nice fish.
  6. Anyone here ever use them? I saw some online and thought about buying some , the action looks great and they look durable enough that you can at least catch 3-4 fish without having to change . Thanks for the insight.
  7. I have the Pro Max (4) and I like them a lot , just this past weekend I caught a 4lb bass on one of them and was impressed at how it held up. I have had them now for maybe a month now and am interested at how they will perform come spring when the big girls move shallow . The true test comes when you have a 10lb plus on the line and they hit like a freight train wreck and pull like dog sled team . I have fished with Abu Garcia reels since I was a kid and they have never failed me.... Hope you enjoy your Silver
  8. I'm interested in going to a tournament this upcoming season for the experience , taking in sights , and possibly meeting some pros . What's the protocol , I mean is there a schedule where you have that opportunity or do you just go to the location and get in the mix? In watching the Elite Series on TV that seems to be the case. Anyone here ever attend one or maybe even the Classic? What was your experience like, who did you have a chance to meet and get a pic with?
  9. I was looking on Tackle Warehouse's website and noticed they have a variety of Japanese lures. I was looking into the soft plastics because that's my favorite way to fish . While surfing their site I saw a hard bodied swimbait called Romans I think which retailed at over 500.00 ! Anyone ever tried the soft plastic line of Japanese lures and if so which would you recommend ? The 500.00 lure was just so amazing due to the cost I had to mention it...can't see paying that much for one lure when I could buy dozens of lures for that amount of money. Just my opinion .
  10. Thanks guys...glad to be here.
  11. Hello all, I'm new new to the forum but not to the site. I've read with great interest the articles and posts. I hope to learn a lot by fellowship with members of this bass fishing fraternity. I have fished for bass for over 30 years and am always amazed at the strides the sport has made with the advent of technology in tackle, lures, and boats. I'm interested in fishing at my local tournament level just to see if I can compete with the best guys in my area. I'm from Mississippi by the way where as I post the heat is blistering so the bass fishing has slowed to a crawl , I await the fall when the cooler temps will ignite the fish and my other pursuits will kick in ie... deer and duck hunting.
