  1. I've been hearing this a lot. Are one piece rods generally a lot more sensitive?
  2. I've lived in Delavan for maybe 6 years and today is only the second time I've fished it and today I only got out for maybe an hour and a half. I was fishing one of the few (very few) places in the entirety of Southern Wisconsin that has decent shore fishing access. It is extremely weedy; my 3/8oz jig barely got a foot down in 5 fow and was merely riding atop the weeds (Siebert or Northstar will be hearing from me soon so i can get some 3/4-1 oz!). Once again, as with the last time I fished this lake, green pumpkin is the color to use. I can see why pappajoe22 likes this lake so much. I will also say: holy crap! Fall is here already. It was darn cold this morning.

Once again, green pumpkin jigs kill at Delavan
  4. Friend??? What's that? I work too much to have these elusive "friends" you speak of.
  5. Hmm. I actually do (sorta). I forgot about that. What do they have in this price range?
  6. PLEASE PLEASE don't let this turn flame fest! I am looking to get a new rod as I just broke the front tip insert on my el-cheapo and it wouldn't pay to fix it. I stopped by my local tackle shop and they have St.Croix Mojo rods that are refurb (branding removed) due to minor flaws or repairs (new rod tips or something) and Walmart has Lightning rods, but usually not in the size/action combo I want (~7' MH/F preferably). The tackle shop has two ~7' for $40, which is the same price as the Berkly's. No, I can't order online because I don't want to hear it from my wife. I would like an Abu Vengeance, what with only being $50, but nowhere around me sells them. So it boils down to: which of these two rods is the better deal, all things being equal? What should I look for in the St.Croix to determine if it was "refurbed" to quality? Granted, I would get somewhat of a "warranty" with the lightning rod, but I hear a lot about St. Croix being the bees knees. Secondly, I doubt I will ANYTIME soon be buying a rod that costs more than $50, so these two rods appear to be my best options right now.
  7. I quite literally "lol'd" on that one. Love it.
  8. Ahh, then you seem to be afflicted with the aforementioned memory leak. This is the first I have heard of it.
  9. Sometimes you need to manually download it from the site because, well, Flash Player is a POS that is hoisted upon us and it's death will be welcomed by ALL. ALL HAIL HTML5! (or whatever else wholly replaces Flash)
  10. Under the assumption that it is the memory leak I referenced with the last link, here is a "fix" (band-aid is more like it): http://forum.playdom.com/showthread.php?39805-How-to-Force-Exit-Flash-Player-without-Restarting-your-PC
  11. Try this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-doesnt-display-internet-explorer.html Also, make sure Flash Player is up to date: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ If none of that helps, it seems that it is a problem many users are facing: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4500900#4500900
  12. Latest, most up to date version of IE?
  13. What browser? What OS?

  17. So...you believed in bigfoot up until this thread? All it took was some sarcastic responses and now you don't? Me thinks you ought to work on your critical thinking skills (no offense).
  18. Ahh, I see. I didn't know that. Thanks.
  19. Keel weighted hook would work too, wouldn't it?
  20. Holy crap! This looks very interesting....
  21. Well, yea. People who go sticking their arms into holes under water with no idea what's in there, hoping they get bit by a fish, tend to be a bit....crazy.
  22. Everything I have read re:smallmouth bass says YES! they are schooling fish. However, the river spot I have been fishing has yielded only one fish per outing. 2 weekends ago, I got one on a lipless crank. Yesterday was a spook. No matter what else I threw, I got zilch, nada, zippola. Granted, both times the fish were caught shortly after sunrise. I am fishing from shore and have maybe 200 yards of shore to work with, but only from one side and there is no downed timber (well, there is but it is out of reach and I want a boat just for that tree lol). Every outing this year (save for the one time I was in a boat on Delavan Lake) I have had this problem, so the idea that was brought up about fish communicating to one another is starting to ring true for me. What I have yet to find info on, though, is how river bass move in relation to time of day.
  23. I don't think he'd have an arm left if he was hillbilly handfishing lol.
  24. Gotcha.
