  1. try the bleeding bait tube by strike king. i have had alot of luck with them
  2. one good way to find baitfish is to go fishing on a windy day. the wind pushes plankton which in turn pushes baitfish to the plankton right behind the baitfish are the bass. you have a tough question to ansewer correctly maybe your best bet is trial and error. theres alot of crankbaits that suspend maybe you could work the water colum from top to bottom with crankbaits feeling the bottom as you go. hope i was of some help
  3. your best bet when you find them is to buy natural colors when you start gaining confidence in them then go to your mix and matched colors. i learned the hard way when it comes to colors. good luck
  4. yes the floating worms will indicate on the package that they are floaters. I went to basic training in georgia fort benning. i hear down there bass fishing is a hot sport. up here we would never be able to grow a bass as big as you guys do down there. my biggest is 6 pounds. keep me updated if you were able to find floating worms if not i will buy and send you some.
  5. A floating worm does what it's name says. most fishermen use floating worms on carolina rigs but floating worms can be twitched across the surface. both methods are great presentations. a trick worm will sink slowly but if you hold your rod tip high a trick worm to can be twitched across the surface. i have found this to be a great morning style presentation.. this summer i bought every available color of trick worm and have used them daily they are awesome. finding what color works best is the real fun but i have narrowed it down to about five. black being one of them. i'm not sure where you live and i live in upstate N.Y. so to give you my list of colors might be a waste of time since things vary from state to state. i hope i was able to help
  6. When you think your going slow go even slower. trick worms have been doing it for me. i cast them out let them get to the bottom then ever so slowly i get them back 10 minutes per cast sometimes. if you target weedy areas or wood then your hits will come on the fall but still fish these areas with percision. change and change often. if you can put a particular soft plastic that fish have never seen before out there you can catch those stubborn fish
  7. you can fish it two ways. position your boat in shallow water ripping the crankbait up the ledge. position the boat in deep water and run the crankbait down the ledge. as far as the thermocline how deep is the lake you fish. with that information i can better ansewer your question
  8. I fish daily for smallmouths. all black 5 inch senkos rigged weightless have been really producing for me this year. bleeding bait tubes by strike king have also been a go to lure of mine this year. and you can never go wrong with a jig with a crayfish trailer. hope i was able to give you some good go to lures. good luck
  9. I'm not the best bass fisherman around but i know a little about smallmouth movements this time of year. what are the best methods and lures to use when targeting smallmouths in deeper water. depths of 10 to 20 feet Thankyou

  11. will smallmouths hit on a salamander soft plastic. thankyou
  12. Thankyou for all thr responses and tips i will try them all Thanks
  13. I live near a stream that i fish often and it's loaded with smallmouths. last year i did really well.. I went to this stream the other day and couldn't even get a bite. up here in upstate N.Y.. the weather can be somewhat unpredicatable. i tried jigs on the bottom senkos rigged every way possible tubes and inline spinners. my question is what could i have done to have caught a few bass.. Thankyou
