  1. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new flipping stick today. Is there anyone with any experience with either of these? - G. Loomis Rods GLX 894 FPR - Length: 7' 5" - Lure Rating: 1/4-1oz - Technique: All around flipping stick - G. Loomis Rods GLX 953 FPR - Length: 7'11" - Lure Rating: 1/4-1oz - Technique: Flipping, Swimbaits, Carolina Rig This is a tough decision but found a great deal. I need it for flipping 3/8 oz. to occassinoally 1oz. weights in tules, brush and matts. It is to replace my old Lamiglas 8 foot telescopic flipping stick that weighs 5 friggin' pounds and has the shortest butt section ever made. Terribly uncomfortable to flip with, not because of the length but because of the weight and how tip heavy it is. Out of these two, which one would you go with?
  2. Hey guys, I was looking for some advice on how you guys like to rig the skinny dipper and the little dipper. I nailed a 7-8 lber yesterday using the skinny dipper as a trailer on my chatterbait but want to throw it and the smaller one in a tournament in Sept. Lake Mead is super clear and has a good mix of largemouth and smallmouth. There are stick ups and deep grass lines with a lot of rocks. Are you guys throwing them with Owner twist lock belly weight hooks? Texas rigged with a small bullet weight pegged to the nose? Or fishing it with a jighead? Thanks guys. Lime Ice looks a killer smallmouth color.
  3. I have a tournament as a co-angler in September on a gin clear lake. I love braided line on my spinning gear for drop shotting. The added sensitivity is amazing, especially on a GLX drop shot rod and it almost completely elimates line twists and spinning reel nightmares. With that said, I feel it makes me a more efficient fisherman but was wondering if anyone else is using braid as a main line with a fluoro leader in super clear water or if you think it makes any difference to the fish? I run 10 lb. Power Pro with 15 feet of 6 lb. Sunline Sniper. I was also wondering what your thoughts were on throwing topwater on gin clear lakes with braid. I must say that 30 lb. braid casts super spooks, rio ricos, and gunfish like a dream and makes the bait incredibly responsive. Not to mention it provides an instant hook set. My question is, do the fish seem to notice? Thanks guys
  4. Hey guys, I am about to pickup a GLX BSR803 in great condition for $200. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on this rod and what techniques it excels at? I would be using it mainly for wacky rigging 5" senkos as well as 3/16 oz. tubes, and 3/16 oz. - 1/4 oz. shaky heads. Thanks guys!
  5. Hey guys, I had a question when it comes to topwater bait selection. I love to fish a Super Spook. It casts like a bullet, walks really well, and gets some amazing reaction strikes when worked really fast on wind swept banks. My question is that I have a tournament coming up as a co-angler and was wondering if anyone threw a Super Spook in super gin clear water? I have never fished Lake Mead before and was wondering if a Super Spook might be too big due to how clear the water is. I have caught 1lb. bass on Super Spooks before but was wondering if it works well for Smallmouth too? Who throws it on braid? What is your favorite topwater bait for gin clear water on lakes with a largemouth and smallmouth mix?
