  1. Fixed my boat this past weekend, had to thread chase a plug on the motor. Now I need to do some TLC on the fiberglass in a few spots, oxidation removal. My gear was pretty dormant last year so my stuff should be good to go in that respect. These 60 degree days are a tease, especially working. Looking forward to getting out asap.
  2. Everything is good here my friend. Work has been extremely busy. Boys are almost 6, no babies anymore. We're done, the twins are enough for us. How are you?
  3. Howdy FIB's. How's everyone been?
  4. Did you stay up in the north end of the main lake? I stay mid lake and fish there and South. Better for musky numbers down that way. We usually move A LOT of fish. The one in my avatar was 46.5" from 2 years ago and that same trip my partner got a 50". The guys I go with have been going for over a decade and have had several trips with 50"+ fish. It's a premier spot for musky no doubt, just didn't have the right hand of cards this time. If you ever go back, PM me, and I'll put you on some spots Clayton.
  5. Snag Proof Wiggle Wog. Had one, never used it over a traditional frog. Didn't swim well at all.
  6. Heya FIB's. Hope everyone is doing well. Couple of pond bass from the other night trying out a new swimbait. Glad to see you stickin em still @slonezp
  7. Hey BR, been a while since posting here. Had a recent trip up to Canada. Results were so-so. Weather was not very cooperative with rain, high winds, and unseasonably cooler. The water was super murky. This is my 4th visit to Eagle and probably worst trip overall in terms of fishing both big fish and quantity. But anytime fishing is a great time. Here is a few of the musky highlights. Enjoy!
  8. Cast to catch video of a nice Wisconsin bass, caught on a 8.3" Mr. Zorba perch glide bait.
  9. Thats a pig RyneB. Congrats! Paul, those are some fat perch. How'd they taste?
  10. If I had my dark fin gizzard tied on it would have been identical. But yes size and everything it was almost dead nuts. I never knew until this spring the pond had shad in it, monsters at that. I've been seeing them swimming in big schools around the shore each time i've been out. No lurkers though..none that were interested in my bait anyway.
  11. My first of 2017. Been a really slow start of the year out at the pond. 6.5 @Mattlures Strongshad Monster shad. Bullshooter 160 next to it
  12. That's unfortunate. People these days.. Hows your chicken wing? You going to be back in full force this season?
  13. I'm not trekking up there this year. The show has been the same year after year and the only reason I was going was to hear the speakers at the tank. Seen Ike, don't care to see ISH. Everyone else in the 2nd floor speaker rooms I've seen too. I'm sure the booths still make a good buck on sales there but if it were anything like it was 10-15 years ago they could seriously UNLOAD some merchandise if they had some better deals. No jerky Paul, just pickles?
  14. Despite the warming temps and the rain, my pond is still froze up good. No chance it's opening up to have fun.
  15. We could get 2 feet of snow dumped on us at anytime all teh way into March. I'd slow your role. Mother nature is just "f"ing with us.
  16. I was at the Musky Expo on Jan 6th. Same old, same old. Shows and show prices are unimpressive to me these days. I just go to see people.
  17. Everytime I drive up to WI i tell myself im going to stop there and fish. Scott, are there any wading areas you can suggest? (Send a pm if willing) Not looking for gold but rather not wasted trips since it isnt exactly down the road. I need to put my wading gear to use next year. Didn't touch it once in 2016.
  18. And so it begins....
  19. My spot is iced over. now we wait... #depression
  20. Lol! i hear ya. just tell her, she'll find it No the legs dont kick on this one but i know of the lure you're describing. He fished more for eyes and pike than anything, mostly up in MN at his brothers place. that was before my time for the most part. He was a classic midwest multifish outdoorsman always looking for some fish to fry. he used to encourage me to clean fish with him which was mainly me pulling the guts out. probably gutted some nice bass in my days. I'm pretty much CPR on everything but will take some eater eyes on a rare occasion .
  21. Chop - You can get a shadowbox at your local Michaels or Hobby Lobby. They have lots of that stuff.
  22. I found some more images with boxes to confirm it is a Jensen Froglegs weedless Plunker. mine appears to be in far better shape than most I've seen online.
  23. Those are Buck Perry Spoonplugs and are still being sold today.
  24. Recently I was unloading some tools and of course fishing stuff from my grandpa's garage and shop, gandma is still around and will likely outlive my whole family. My grandpa passed away in '97 so he's been gone fro 20 years now just to put a date on his most recent stuff before his passing which is shown below. While there isn't a box full of gems and everything I've identified for the most part, there is this one frog lure that I'm really curious about. All I could find using Google is that it might be a rare Lure Jensen Surface Frog. I can't seem to find much more on it so do any of you old timers have info on this? I think i'm going to do a shadowbox or some other memorial with the lures and my grandpa's picture in it and hang it in my shop. The fishing industry sure has come a long way in 20+ years. I can only imagine in another 20. I bet there is some young blood in here that have never seen half of this stuff and it isn't very old. I didn't know they made hula poppers in popcorn shrimp size, lol. I will be putting all my swimbait and lure collection in my will and haunt my sons or grandkids if they sell it off.
  25. This is the 3rd of 4th forum you have asked for the golden platter of information about how to make swimbaits . No one is going to just hand you it, and I assure you the guys who make a lively hood out of making swimbaits aren't going to just throw the information out there either to the exposure of 100's of MILLIONS to read. Do some research, you have Google at your finger tips. Some information has already been passed over to you on other forums for hardware. You're not going to receive a step by step guide on how to do it. It's part of the process, figuring it all out. Best of luck on your journey.
