  1. Sometimes when they wont commit try speeding it up. I am amazed at how fast I move my spook/ frog. I will straight crank it on a 7:1 reel , fast back to the boat. A slow bite shows they are hungry and as you said picky, questioning your offering. If they can't see it and feel it is going to get away they can't resist. Just another angle sounds like a good time.
  2. DS for smallmouth is my favorite way to cath bass! nice chunk ....
  3. Chunky!!!!!
  4. Great looking chunk!
  5. Went out thursday with a good friend of mine. He is a old retired E9 and then spent 15 plus watching crooks as a CO. The guy has put in his time protecting the rest of us. Great guy and has never fished the Q or caught a SM for that matter. We got out at about 7AM and home by 1PM. With short time we didn't go far. My spring spots with no temp change seem to be filling up with larger fish. Worked to get him on some good SM early it was overcast and the thought of bright sun scared me as it can turn them off like a sitch . We started of on a pile of 2 Lbers. We each boated a couple. My pal HP was amazed at how hard it was to get the 2 bler in the boat. I told him wait till MR.Fourpoundy gave him tug. They were hitting well and I thought if the sun can hold off we may be in for a banner day. Well it didn't and they shut down. The fish and the bait were moving all over. We would mark them and they would be gone in seconds. It was like fishing the ocean tide. Mark the structure and fish. Set the anchor and about every 20-30 min they would come back under we would pick up a couple fish and off they would go. As we were getting to wrap it up I marked some giant returns on the finder. Kept my rod out of the water and let HP have at em. Good things happen to good people. He got a solid hit set the hook and I knew right away it was a good one. He played her well and in no time she was in the net. She ran 4.3 and he smiled the whole way home. Here she is .... I think others will agree with me. These dark fish mean they have just moved up from colder water. A great sign that a fall pattern is about to hit. They should become more aggresive and we shoul start to see schools of bigger fish feeding up. Here comes the crank bait. I can't wait such a fun time of year. __________________
  6. Got to love the big SM.... They have been in 28 ft or so here in the East ....
  7. Sounds like fun to me... I love the rain on a hot day who cares if you get wet. Rather that than the heat....
  8. Love the smell and the quiet at that time of day!
  9. I use cranks all season long. Match the hatch and remember fish are like cats. Drag it by slow nothing, drag it by fast nothing, drag it by and stop and jerk bam. Just like a cat .... my take on it
  10. Nice fin... On my bucket list, heard they fight well ....
  11. Looks like a 5 to me but pictures are tough. No matter sweet chunk could be 7 but shure does look empty and it would have to be 24 inches to get 7 out of a fish that flat. I just scaled a beast and it went 5'7 take a look at my last post ...
  12. Had to work....
  13. Went out this am and hit up some new water. This might become my new favorite spot. It was not a numbers trip but the quality was there. It was also beautiful spot. Man made lake 200 acre's with lots of rock and little grass is most places. Perfect for cranks, and other deep water hammers. We started of on top with spooks, jittrers, frogs ect. The big jitter took the first fish of the day and what a chunk. Sloppy pic as it was raining off and on and I had a water spot on the lens. She went just shy of 6 lbs. Look a the draggon eyes ... He is so ugly I didnt want him in to many photos.. The sun came up and I went to the X2 slammer and my bud was throwing everything from jigs to spinners. The first fish came from 20 ft of water and in the middle of the lake so odd pattern. We hit island points and then I got a good 4 and change chunk on the slammer. This thing has boated me at least 2 fish a trip. Sweetest chicken leg shot ever! We only fished from quarter of 5 and done by 7:30. Cant wait to get back and hammer out a couple more... Tight lines .........................
  14. Love the t-shirt ....
