  1. Congratulations on coming to a decision! I can't wait to hear which one you chose!!!
  2. I too just recently was forced to decide on a new reel, and i was torn between the Tourny pro, the gen II abu premier, or waiting for the gen III premier. I have only owned Abu Garcia and wanted to venture out to test the waters of a new brand of reel. After lots of reading and playing with the reels I purchased a Lew's tourny pro. As a matter of fact from the same seller that ya'll were talking about on the "bay" for 158 with free shipping. Purchased it Saturday and it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow or Thursday! I talked to them on the phone first and they seem extremely nice and to answer your question. They are an actual sporting good store located in Alabama. I would try and see if some of the sponsors on here will price match though. Nothing like supporting was seems to be a great forum!
  3. To the OP. I have experienced this in our lake! You can visually see the bass hitting a school of shad along a certain ledge. And nothing I throw seems to catch them. I have tried spinnerbaits, swim baits, buzz baits, even an alabama rig. And nothing. Surely there is a way to take a few of these fish. Hope this thread can help us in that venture!
  4. There has to be more factors that you need to consider other than just the rain. Pressure changes affect fishing so was it just a summer shower or a storm that moved in with a front? I don't fully understand all those aspects yet, but i do know that its more than just the rain. I have gone fishing three hours before a storm moved in that was a spinoff of a tropical storm and tore the fish up! When the storm hit we went to a restaurant/bar at the marina for about an hour till the storm had mostly subsided. We then hit the lake again and didn't hardly catch anything! Then two weeks later we were having a rough day water temps were 85-86 and we couldn't get bass to hit anything. We received a good rain for 30-45 minutes and it was like the fish hadn't ate in days! After the rain we hit the shallows and tore them up. The rain helps to re-oxygenate the water. Oxygen is of course why fish go deep during the heat of the summer. Oxygen levels go up as you get closer to the thermocline.
  5. Iirc AP pole has Alabama as number three with USC and LSU above them!
  6. Thank you everyone! Lots of good info! I am scared to clean it and flush it myself, so it looks like i will be fishing it until around late september r mid November and sending it off to KVT for some upgrades and tuning.
  7. Im an Auburn fan. I was brought up in a house divided. Mom Alabama alumni and dad auburn alumni. Attended auburn a few semesters until i decided to open a lawn maint. And landscaping company. I can tell u now auburn is gonna suck! We are not even ranked. I believe Alabama is ranked number two reason in sec behind ls-who.
  8. I just ordered my first Lew's product tonight, a tournament pro. My question is. When i first recieve it do i need to break it down, clean, grease, and oil it? I know that I have heard revo's and several other reels come packed full of grease and oil. I was just wondering if that was the case with these reels. Also was wondering if anyone has done any upgrades to any of there lew's reels, and if so what kind of results did you see. Thanks, Jonathan
  9. Hey everyone, My name is Jonathan. I am 22 and i have been lurking around this site for the past few months and finally decided to join! I have to tell you all thanks for all the great information ya'll have provided. I am fairly new to bass fishing. I was bitten by the bass bug in late march this year. I have found myself coming home every evening checking the forums for new information and recording all the bass shows that come on FLW. I could be online reading about it for 3 hours or 8 hours. It just depends on how tired i am. I am currently using an old abu garcia c5500 that was my father's on a 7' mh xf allstar rod. While the rod is an improvement from my all glass rod it still leaves alot to be desired. So i am in the market for new equipment obviously and have read hundreds of reviews on rods and reels. I hope to have 4 rods and reels by the end of the year. Looking for towards curado e's, 2013 team lew's pro, and either a gen II or gen III abu premier. All on either st. croix legend rods and possible a custom ALX rod. Anyways. I just wanted to stop in, and give a basic background and insight to my future hopes. Jonathan
