  1. Oh, I didn't know that! I think most of my fishing wont be on big bodies where search mode is needed! So my last question is, is the helix series the best way to go? Or lowrance?
  2. Thanks for the replies! So is side imaging a worth it must have for fishing from a kayak?
  3. Looking to add some electronics to my new Pelican Catch 120! Price must be under 500$, but i'm confused on if its worth getting side scan or side imaging. Or If its worth getting GPS or what I should all look for and whats a great unit? Thanks for the help
  4. Whats the best rack for the money then? cheap but not terrible ??
  5. Hey guys, i'm looking at getting a pelican catch 120 yak. But my problem is, I have a new car and I really don't want to scratch it! its a 70# yak so I woujld have to slide it on or be able to do it alone, is there anyway to not scratch my car but load and unload easily? Thanks for any advice!
  6. Hey everyone, I've been working at a local bait and tackle shop and wildlife studio here in Wisconsin for over two and a half years. Before being hired, I was the local kid who spent hours every day looking at every lure, every bobber, every fish REPLICA, and every single package of hooks hung in the store. And I really love it, I love helping people get set up for local fishing waters and helping them chase fish of their dreams. But here is my problem... I'm very dissapointed by the number of anglers who come in and complain that our prices are just way to astronomical, and then they go on and compare a local shop to their home town BPS or tackle warehouse. This happened just the other day because a bright angler who was driving a brand new aluminum f150 with a new ranger reata decided to throw a fit and yell at me because he can get senkos for $7.19 a bag when I have them at $7.49. This happens all the way from plastics and hooks, up to fish finders. And for most people who don't understand, its very very hard to compete with box stores who can order a specific lure by the thousands and get better prices than your local shop. So my questions for you guys are, when you go to your local bait shop, if you were looking to buy a bag of senkos, would you make a big stink about that 30 cents? And my other question is when you go into your mom and pop shop, do you negotiate about the prices? I mean by walking up to the counter and saying "Can you match the price on this new shimano curado I, with the price I can get it on ebay?". How do you guys feel about your local shops?
  7. That is a crazy cool read!!! I love guys who prove you dont need a 620 or 300verado to catch fish!
  8. I LOVE split shot rigs, I have a 3/4 ft fluro leader tied to braid and I use a split shot and a hook a lot and love fishing that rig. But the normal round style split shot always gets snagged or pulls weeds, do they make a pencil or more streamline weight that can be crimped on or off? I don't want a egg sinker style because I tend to switch weights a lot! Thanks for the help!
  9. A old walleye fisherman showed me my favorite rig for spinning gear.. I run a 69mlxf avid, 2500 Sahara reel, 10# powepro super slik 8 in blue, to a small bead on top of a #10 barrell swivel, then 6# 100% Trilene Fluro... I've used this rig with great sucess for jigs with walleyes to senkos for bass to just about anything. The bad part of having the bead and swivel is you can't reel past it so don't make your leader to long or casting is a bear. But having the bead on top of a swivel prevents you from reeling in the swivel thus breaking your insert of your top guide. Try it, it actually works really well and tying a new leader on takes 30 seconds
  10. I know this is more of a bass crank over a minnow bait, but manns baby minus -1 is a killer! 1ft running depth, it moves a ton of water and catches a ton of bass for me! Look into it! Wakebaits are a blast!
  11. Grey Ghost 1/2oz Red Eye Shad, walleyes, bass, 20lb pike. Can't resit it in the northern wisconsin waters! Otherwise... Bill Lewis has his 1/8oz Tiny Trap, thats a crappie killer!
  12. Does everyone ever use this?? JT Bagwell swears by the siebert bloody shad swim jig.. I love the looks of it, but were I fish there isn't shad... Suckers, Bluegill, and crappies are the most common forage.... i'm just looking for a good color swim jig to build confidence in!
  13. I have 2 69MLXF Avids, love them both with a passion. I use them for drop shotting, walleye fishing, livebait applications, senkos. You name it. I've caught muskies on it as well as crappies on it with a 1/8oz roadrunner jig

  15. I'm a huge fan of fishing spinnerbaits and I do very well on them all year round in our murky waters here in northern wisconsin, but I've never had luck on swim jigs. Is throwing swim jigs in the stained water just not a good tactic seeing as the water has such low visibility??
  16. So help me out here, I currently own and love my brand new Avid 69MLXF with a 2500 Shimano Sahara combo... But, I want to treat myself to something better. I know the avid is on a SC3 Blank which is in my opinion a lot more sensitive than SC2 blanks such as premiers and triumphs. But, how does a Legend Tournament sc4 blank compare to the avid? Is it a much noticeable difference??? Now going to legend xtreme which is sc4 and sc5 blank is that night and day difference?? I'm looking for another do all spinning rod... I've caught walleyes up to 29", countless muskies, 5# smallies, and even panfish on my avid and I love it. But I'm just wondering if there is a huge sensitivity difference in the higher st croix line up... Thanks!
  17. I work fulltime for a feelfree kayak dealer in Tomahawk, WI and the lure 11.5 in blue camo is my favorite fishing kayak. Im 185lbs and can fully jump and land back in the kayak without tipping over. The three way gravity seat is very comfortable and the amount of options and accessories is endless.. On the model I demo for people at the shop it is outfitted with a 250cm feelfree paddle, unibar, and a helix 5 fishfinder with the feelfree rod/cooler crate in the back. It is a hell of a yak. And being able to roll it, is awesome. Let me know If I can help with any questions!
  18. Hello Everyone, I haven't been on BR in quite some time but I'd like to share a almost life changing story that included Bass Resource and my use of this forum. I promise this read will be worth your time.. A few years ago for my Christmas present at the age of 15 I found a lot on here for 300$ that was something I felt I couldn't live without and I begged and prayed for my parents to get it for me. It was a whole lot to get me started, several rods reels baits ect. And One of the best parts about it was, if I bought this whole lot, the seller would throw in a Fenwick Elite Tech Rod for me. So eventually my parents gave in and purchased me this lot and the seller immediately notified me saying he couldn't find this bonus rod at the time but assured me I'd receive it. So I didn't think twice and just took his word. Weeks passed and the seller and me corresponded and he still was having a problem finding it, so I gave him to the following spring to find and ship me the rod. Then one day I messaged him 5 months later and he finally found the rod and sent me a picture of it about to be shipped and I was more than excited! But, I never received the rod. Two weeks passed and I never heard from the seller again. His account went non active, he didn't post, he didn't reply, I called him and his phone was disconnected. At this point I pretty much gave up and threw in the towel, and kissed my 150$ rod away.. Which being 16 at the time was more than I'd ever afford.. Two full years passed, I never reported or bashed the user I figured if he was to rip me off, karma would find his way. Then one day I logged back into this website after months of inactiveness and I saw a message, it was the seller from over two full years ago. He told me he lost his job, his wife, his home, tackle and much more. And right away did my stomach drop. I was immediately filled with forgiveness but the seller told me even though he may have lost a lot, he is still going to ship me two brand new Powell Rods and a box of baits for my patience and because he stated he is a true man of his word and would go to any lengths to make it right, even if it meant cutting into his paycheck.. Sure enough, I received everything as it was stated, two full years after a transaction. This is something I find more than admirable. I'm only 17 now but I hope one day I'm a man of my word to this extent and I now learned this is a quality of a true man. I'm so thankful for this website and all the great people on it, I would say this forum has some of the best people on it filled with great knowledge and respect. Thanks Bass Resource!
  19. My phone sucks so sorry for it being blurry... Its that gold piece right in the middle where the spool shaft goes it.. Any idea what it'll cost me?? Since my buddy is out a reel i'll just trade him one of mine and try to get this sent to DVT to be fixxed... Just wondering how much to expect ..
  20. The reel I bought offline not local... The reel when all assembled feels good for 3/4 each turn of the reel then it feels like it clunks or is hard to turn. What's the way I could fix this? Is my reel shot? Will BPS exchange it?? I really hope this isn't a dud reel becsuse I went out I my way to get this for my friend. Thanks for the help!
  21. Hi everyone, long time no talk on here. Been busy as heck but I've come in contact with a major problem. I bought my friend a 7.1:1 brand we PQ on Christmas for 80$ and the reel Isnt working right. The problem is when you take out the spool on the side where the reel is, inside where the spool shaft goes into the gears. That little gold but or peice isn't securely in there. If I push the spool in hard and hold it the reel is smooth as butter, if not it almost clunks every so often. Any help on what to do? Or how to fix it? I can't find a schematic online to show you exactly what piece but ill post a picture after work. Thanks everyone !
  22. Trailer hooks are my biggest confidence booster. I burn them and jerk and pause them and by the number of fish that 1/0 strike king trailer hook catches I can't fish without one
  23. I got a 34" musky bite through my 130# FC one day when it was in the net thrashing around. Just run braid. And heavy FC just isn't easy to manage and just is big and gawdy
