  1. Hey bluebasser I always really enjoyed reading your fishing reports out there in the KC area and abroad! That is a fair question. Short answer, I have battled my disc issue through physical therapy and the works for about 3 years now. If im honest though I am at peace with this decision at this point so no worries and the neck is doing better, pain is definitely manageable in day to day life now so I take gratitude in that for sure. Work instability contributed as well and I could use a little cushion while paying bills from holiday season. I have some good gear with a lot of life left in it that just screams for a workout so Id prefer to pass it along to some folks who will take advantage of it. Like I told my old lady, one day down the line I'll be back but for the forseable future I feel this is a sound decision. Have a good day everyone! Stay warm here in the chilly midwest I think old man winter may be here to stay for a while this time. Wont complain though because the wearher has been great so far.
  2. Thanks A-Jay means a lot. Sorry about the choppy spelling in original podt have to post from mobile phone
  3. Also, can anyone provide me with a link regarding exactly how folks ship used rods on here? Thnks in advance
  4. Hello all, never formally imtroduced myself. Used to post periodically here and loved the site. Great people lots of great information. Due to a cervical spine injury I am unfortunately preparing to sell all of my fishing gear. I habe not bought/sold in the market here, so I plan to sell off cheaper termnal tackle, soft plastics, etc. To build some kind of positive reputation as a seller in the market. I will also be unloading many bait casters, shimano spinning reels, progressing to gloomis, abu, shimano, and Duckett rods. I aim to price it all to move fairly quickly. I was not sure where to post this, but I figure it would help my cause a bit to get active in the forums so I started here. I will admit it pains me to surf the forums, because for the time being im no longer able to enjoy my passion. Anyway tight lines folks hopefully ill seeya around in the market.
  5. At first I was disappointed in the G42, was hoping for a single stack 9mm from glock. After I held and shot the 42 though I was impressed. Smooth shooter, same short reset as other glocks, and boring reliability as usual. Not as small as other .380's, some may not be able to pocket carry it.
  6. My ccw qualification course recently put me in the same boat as you Needham. If you put forth the time, (8hrs) and money you passed, I'll leave it at that.
  7. Stl Bob, good to see another legally armed citizen in my neighborhood. Grew up on the east side of the river, moved away to rural Mid Mo four years ago. Like you said, there are some real winners over there. I rotate a glock 19 and a 26 depending on what I'm wearing and thr weather. Bought a glock 30s a couple weeks ago so after the usual range and reliability trial period I plan to add it into the mix as well. Without starting a war here, Ill just say I tried all sorts of different carry guns and platforms and finally concluded I'm most confident in my glocks should the shiz ever hit the fan. Why? Well ideally you would never have to pull your gun but I would hate to be in a situation where I needed it yet didn't have it. So I carry and train weekly.
  8. I really enjoyed the couple of glasses of Blantons. I think neat is the only way for me with that one though. That first sip was something different and you know it right away, in a good way, WOW I thought. Plan on trying some others mentioned in this thread for sure, cheers
  9. My better half bought me a bottle of blantons for Xmas, going to bust it open tonight and enjoy a couple glasses after the little one is down.
  10. Santa bought me a bottle of makers mark 46, I really enjoyed that bourbon. A little more bite than the good old makers mark I treat myself to on occasion.
  11. 3500 rounds between my g26 and g19 since I purchased both for carry rotation a few months ago. Not a single malfunction, strong hand, off hand, in the rain, in the snow, rapid fire it hasn't mattered. Sounds like a good day anyway!
  12. Worst case scenario for me personally would be to see Ohio sate in the title game playing a jameisless Florida State team should the DA bring him charges. Ok so onto this weekend in Atlanta, who do guys like??
  13. We can leave Alabama out of the national championship talk, lets be real here. FSU is the clear favorite. If Auburn beats Mizzou they're in. If Mizzou wins, no matter the score, it pains me to say OSU is in as long as they beat Mich. St. Ohio state is a good team, but simply does not deserve the nod over Mizzou IMO based off their strength of schedule, but I think the voters will have a different opinion. This is assuming they both win this weekend.
  14. Boy what can you say. Anything short of a national championship is a dissapointment among many tide faithful these days. Losing to Auburn just put salt in the wound to put it as light as I can. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict mutliple loses next season considering who they will lose to the draft, glory days where good while they lasted but last night was ominous. Was suprosed to see Mizzou the early favorite today oveer Auburn. Boy there is a tsunami brewing in the college football world if Ohio State takes care of business fairly easy against Mich St. next week.
  15. Man what a terrible situation. I wish you the best. Sounds like you have held great restraint as it is, and continue an adult relationship for the kids sake.
  16. I narrowed it down to my xds .45 or gen 4 glock 19. Both great guns but I carry the g19, I'm more accurate on quick follow up shots and like the capacity it holds in case I ever had to engage multiple targets. Conceals fairly easily even on a small framed guy and when I pull the trigger it goes bang every time. I read a VERY interesting conversation between a forum crowd and a medical examiner working in the city of Atlanta. Man has performed thousands of autopsy and has come to favor the .45 round by a large margin for carry.. I believe the .357mag was next followed by .40 then 9mm. I will try to post a link later. I agree with everyone above though, carry something youre confident you can be proficient and accurate with and isn't a pain to carry. I'm confident with the 9 mm hollow point, prefer anything from 124+p to 147grain.
  17. Bigger, stronger, faster, more explosive, invreased stamina, and often overlooked, the ability to heal quicker. All attributes of anabolic steroids and peptides (HGH, insulin, igf, etc..) Very little benefit when it comes to fishing, absolutely not worth it when you consider risk/reward. Not to mention illegal.
  18. Worst case scenario I could imagine some using stimulants (not sold over the counter) to make it through a day but you'll never convince me anabolics give you am edge out on the lake unless you're with the pals out at party cove soakin' and floatin'.
  19. PED's on the elite tour to gain an edge. I've heard it all now.
  20. Bought a xds .45 last week after searching for one for months. Went into a local bps for some baby brush hogs and stumbled upon it by accident, LOL. Opened up a bps credit card that saved me 10% on any purchase up to $1500. Rented lots of guns at the range prior to thos purchase with ccw on my mind, particularly of the 9 mm variety, but the xds in .45 cal to my suprise seemed to fit me the best. I plan to carry with hornady critical defense as this was the round that never failed me and allowed me to get nack om target quicker on all of my range visits. Everyone steered me towards the 230 grain JHP round but I figure the 185 grain Hornady round should be should be plenty sufficient in a self defense situation considering I shoot it the best and it hasn't failed me with the xds after 100+ rounds. Any other xds owners here? Now I need to take a ccw course and be on my way.
  21. An action is always quicker than a reaction however. I'd hate for you to **** that 12 guage and take a bullet to the head while doing so because the intruder was already alert and aware of your presence with gun drawn.
  22. "It's also easier to feel what the jig is doing in deep water with lighter line and if the cover is light with little for the bass to wrap a line around, then the lighter line works very well." I get away with 10-12# sunline shooter. 14 # when flipping/pitching docks with T-rigged soft plastics.
  23. Happened to me last weekend for the first time ever. Freaked me out to be honest. I was fishing off a dock over about 6' of water, throwing a little crappie jig trying out a new reel. Hooked into an eater sized gill, let him test my drag a bit taking my time with it. Got it up to the dock and was about 6" from pulling it out of the water when out of nowhere a giant bass blew up on the gill. My guess is she was hanging out under the dock. I did notice bass fry all over the dock and later caught a 3lb male fishing a brush hog hunting for the pig. The sight of that giant bass blowing up on a gill 2' from me was awesome. Between 8-10lbs would be my rough guess.
  24. The biggest problem I see is folks spending hundreds of dollars on supplement stacks but pay minimal, or not nearly enough attention to diet and training. I've been guilty of it myself. Hell throw anabolics into that mix as well.
  25. As much as you're in the gym you would see even better gains IMO if you trained each body part once, maybe twice a week and icreased the volume/intensity each session on a specific area, like back. I'm speaking strictly for bodybuilding purposes. You're muscles need time to repair and grow, especially if you're in the gym 3 hours a day 6 days a week lifting. Not trying to tell you how to do things just offering a suggestion.
