  1. I have a 7' MH/Med-Fast with a Lews TP mounted on it. I really like the rod. Very sensitive and light, great feeling in the hand with the big foam grips. I throw pretty much everything with it, up to 3/4 oz but it excels between 1/4 and 1/2. I've been bringing in a few 4-5 lb LM lately with it and it handles like a charm.
  2. Lately it has been a jig but only in one body of water that I used to get skunked at almost everyday. Northstar Jig with Paca Chunk has netted me 7 LM in about 3.5 hrs of fishing. But any other time, might have to go with a KVD SK 1.5 in Black Back Chartreuse or a Rat-L-Trap in Silver.
  3. What jig brand is this??
  4. I just caught my first bass on a northstar jig today. Actually, caught four of them including my PB. I am officially addicted.
  5. I bought some of the Owner Jig Rigs and you can make your own but I find it easier to buy a pack and see if I like this type of rig. So far, nothing. But it's learning process.
  6. My Lew's TP works pretty well at throwing lighter lures. I can throw 1/4 oz lure reasonably far. I spool with Yo-Zuri Hybrid 12#.
  7. I saw this out of the water but once in the water it seems like the problem is close to non-existent due to movement of the bait through the water.
  8. I got some Owner Twistlocks in 4/0 and have found this is a fantastic way to rig the Ika along with Ribbit frogs and even Senkos. I really don't see a downside to using this method of rigging.
  9. You guys are probably getting sick of all my questions, lol. So I bought some Fat Ika lures and before I fish my soft plastics, I like to practice rigging them so I have an idea of what the heck I am doing out there and not wasting valuable time. I tried rigging the Ika with a 4/0 EWG but cannot seem to get the lure to settle out in a straight fashion. I'm having trouble bending the lure enough to rig it properly, resulting in kinks and whatnot. I am going to try a twist lock and see if that helps but this is frustrating. I can t-rig a worm or senko no issue but this thing is tough. Any ideas?? Thanks!
  10. Well see my thread in the Tackle section of the forums. I keep spending a ton on lures. KVD 1.5 cranks, Northstar Jigs, frogs, trailers, soft plastics, etc. I was bitten by both monkeys I guess, lol.
  11. Ok I have quick question on T-Rigging as well . . . I was trying to t-rig a Fat Ika backwards last night using a 4/0 EWG and I either couldn't bend the bait enough to get a good fit or when I pushed the hook through, the neck caused a small hump in the plastic. Just seems odd that I cannot get these things rigged straight or without damaging a lot of plastic.
  12. That may be my next rod. But right now the Bucoo is doing pretty well and am quite pleased. But I may buy another TP and then get a 723 like you mention. Stupid baitmonkey.
  13. I have a few rage craws but only use them as jig trailers (with NO luck). What else can I use them for?
  14. Thanks for the replies, especially to Big-O. I will purchase a few 5/0 superline EWG later on today after work. My biggest concern was keeping the baits on their belly.
  15. So in other words my plan is good and will work just dandy.
  16. I bought an assortment of soft plastic frogs to work topwater in my heavily weeded lakes. How should I rig these? I am planning on using a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG Superline Gammy. Is this all I need and simple enough or should I try another type of hook, like an Owner Screw Lock with 4/0 or 5/0? Not sure which way to go on this one.
  17. No kidding the baitmonkey has gotten a hold of me. I spent wayyy too much on lures. Bought a Plano KVD FTO Elite bag with the 3700 series lure specific boxes. Love how they set up and keep everything organized. It's great when you're shore fishing but it is a tad heavy. Might need to scale back on some things but I doubt I will. Out of curiosity, does anyone have any info on rigging the Rage Shads or soft-body frogs I ordered. I am planning on using a simple 4/0 or 5/0 Gammy EWG. Does this sound like the right way to do it?
  18. Normally fish moderate to heavy vegetation. Throw jigs along the line and drag them or pop them. No bites yet.
  19. I just need to learn how to fish these stupid jigs. I am bound and determined to catch something this year.
  20. I just got a Lews TP and I can zing a 1/4 to 3/8 oz lure pretty darn far. Far enough at least that I don't feel hindered or at a disadvantage fishing from shore and having to reach difficult spots. It has dual braking and is very light. My one complaint was frequent backlashes, at least until I got it dialed in just right. Little practice and all better. I highly recommend the TP.
  21. I have two setups already but my Lews TP 6.4.1 on a Falcon Bucoo 7'0 MH/Med-Fast Micro Rod is my do it all set up and I really, really like my Lews TP. Though I am not against anything AG, just read about how much people love the TP. And I am looking up what a Hudds are.
  22. Got my first shipment in from Tackle Warehouse. I think I am addicted. How do you think I did on my order?? Stanley Ribbits Fat Ika SK Rage Shad SK Rage Toad Zoom Horny Toad Northstar Flip and Swim Jigs Dirty Jack No Jack Punching Jigs Owner Jig Rigs (essentially a pre-made Jika rig) Owner Yuki Bug Rage Craw Chunks Tungsten Bullet Weights Tungsten Nail Weights My current tackle setup has a lot of flukes (prob too many I think to carry at one time), senkos, grubs, KVD 1.5 cranks, slashbaits, and a few creature baits. Anything else I just have to pick up or should this keep me set for awhile, lol. Also, I know I bought a good number of topwaters (soft body frogs) but I fish some very heavily weeded areas. Thought they would be a good investment.
  23. Yup that is the one. Caught two off it the very first day on a KVD 1.5 Black Back Chartreuse. Man I love these new toys.
  24. I had some amazing luck with a SK KVD 1.5 in Chartreuse Black Back. Two very nice SM within about 10 mins of one another. Also have had some good luck with a 3/8 oz War Eagle spinnerbait in White/Chartreuse As for jigs, no luck. Threw out a Northstar Flip and Swim Jigs with a chunk trailer. I don't know what I am doing wrong with it. Though I may put a rage craw on it.
  25. Have my new Lew's TP and picked up some Yo-Zuri Hybrid 12#. I was spooling up and when I got to the end, I noticed the one side of my spool was thicker/higher/more fool. In other words, it appeared it spooled up uneven. How do I avoid this? I think it did this because when I tied the line on, the level wind was almost to the right side and the left side is where there is more line on the spool. Should I start spooling directly in the middle of the spool ( level wind directly in the middle of the spool) or is this normal?
