  1. I agree with snook. You can waste a lot if money buying lures for the first time that you will never really use/gain confidence with.. Believe me..the bait monkey has gotten us all! I would suggest a 6-6 to 7' med or med heavy for your worm rod. If you are comfortable with spinning gear, I would go that route because finesse fishing can be utilized more easily with spinning IMO.
  2. Zoom ol monstee
  3. Junebug red trick worm rigged weightless.
  4. Keep trying! I bank fish exclusively down here in Tx, so believe me I feel your pain. This time of year, after multiple skunkings, ill head to a creek instead of the usual lakes or ponds. Creek fish aren't usually as lethargic as pond bass during these extreme temps in my experience. It probably had to do with the running water supplying constant O2.
  5. If the fish are highly pressured and/or it's a tough bite, the longer the leader typically needs to be. At least that's my understanding.
  6. I usually match the diameter of lines, or I get close to it. For instance, my 30 lb braid has a .01 difference in diameter to the 12 lb fluoro leader that I use, and I have found that this combination works great.
  7. 5 for the leader to the braid and 8-10 for the braid to the leader. The braid needs extra wraps because it can slip more easily.
  8. It looks like you could use that with all types of worms. Go for it and post the results!
  9. The city puts a chemical in all the ponds it manages here in mesquite. It gave all the waters a bluish tint that was very noticeable when first introduced a few years back.
  10. I can tell you're not from Texas.. We could KILL for some rain down here.
  11. Weightless works great with highly pressured fish and days that are hard to get bit.
  12. You'd be suprised at how big a wake can be made by a bluegill in shallow water. I've been fooled into thinking they were bass more than once.
  13. Football!!
  14. I think bass care more so about the diameter of lines at times. I've never payed attention to color when buying line and my catch rate remains about the same. However, I have downsized my tackle to a mL rod and 6 lb test, and my catch rate went through the roof on one lake in particular.
  15. I had this problem at several of the ponds I fish. Go weightless and the algae accumulation will go way down
  16. It depends. Using a trick worm, I went from a 3/0 offset round to a 1/0 and the action was completely different. The 1/0 had much better action and didn't look "fake" in the water as I twitched it. My bites went way up as well. Smaller, lighter hook usually equates to less inhibited action.
  17. That's how mine did with 10 lb test red label. I had to cut off 20-30 yds. That stuff coiled way too badly for my liking.
  18. I wouldn't go with red label - too much memory
  19. 26-27 in. bass caught during the spawn. Didn't get her weight but she would've been an easy DD if she hadn't dropped her eggs already.
  20. Haven't had that happen but my second time ever fishing with a baitcaster, I would have had 6 good fish but all came unbuttoned when they jumped. I never engage my drag
  21. I'd sling it to that island and work it off the land. Also, fish any shade that the bridge or trees might form. I was having the same problem at my local pond with the extreme heat down here. I downsized my tackle to a ML rod and 6 lb test. I fished the same spots and immediately started having success.
  22. I had a cop ask me if I had one before. I said yes, and he left without seeing it.
  23. A buddy of mine said to try the new sufix just the other day. Ill get a spool of this and yozuri. Thanks again or the help guys
