Would a 12 foot old town caspian kayak be a good deal at the 350-400 price mark? This would be my first yak, and I want to pull the trigger if this is a good deal. Thanks guys.
X2 What others have said about being very stealthy. Also, what line were you using? If the water was unusually clear, this probably contributed to their increased spookiness.
I use the chartreuse, garlic bottle to dip the tails if worms. The stuff works great, just reapply every 30 min or so. 1 bottle will last most "normal" fishermen a season. Me, I go through 2.
Limited time on the water plays a factor here as well. If you only get a few precious hours on the water a month, you don't want to waste that time with baits you have zero confidence in.
If I'm working a plastic on bottom, where the price of the hook, weight and plastic are a 1.00 max, I will set the hook on anything that feels off. Yes, I have lost many setups like this, but I have also caught many good fish that didn't give me hat pronounced thump bass are known for.
[quote name="BassinLou" post="1357316" timestamp=". Another situation for me that I would use a mono leader for instance would be, when using a fluke or fluke type bait. I find mono gives these baits the fluidity it needs to move freely in the water. Tied on straight braid the lure moves to stiff for me.
I agree 100% when using flukes.
