  1. Looks like you have a mini KVD in the works!! I have a buddy that really gets into the white bass there, im hoping to get on the water with him soon. Its been a while since Ive fished there, but Id probably throw deep and mid diving crankbaits on rip rap near deeper water (kinda hard to find in that lake) early and late in the day. use a deep diver that can bounce off the rocks without getting hung up. Mid day, try texas rigs and jigs out off main lake points. Also, maybe try a buzzbait near shore at first light and then at sundown on sharp main lake points.
  2. Thanks to everybody for the welcomes. I've been thinking about joining a club in the area and have been having a hard time finding one, does anyone have any suggestions?
  3. Welcome Skunked again, Im not a highland fisherman, from bunker hill and currently going to school in carbondale. Youve got a lot of good bassin opportunities in your area, Silver is good, if you or a buddy has a boat, Carlyle might be worth the trip.
  4. There are too many better things to do down here than worry about a little thing like school to be honest, having all the lakes so close was the main reason i ended up here in the first place. GO DAWGS!!!
  5. nice_Bass, they still stock DK with trout, good for fighting the winter blues till the water starts warming up Thanks for the info K_Mac, I need to give kinkaid a shot. Been having the same results fishing shakeyheads on grassy that you had on Cedar, lots of little'ns. Grassy has been especially difficult, its normally a clear lake, but the vis lately has been about 10-12 feet!
  6. Hey guys, new to the forum and i figured I'd see if theres anyone getting on fish around me. Im a student at SIU Carbondale, and I fish little grassy, devils kitchen, cedar lake and crab orchard. The bites been tough with the drought, high temps and clear water and I was wondering if anyone might have suggestions. Been doin alright fishing top water early and late, but Id like to make my trips a little more effective (being a broke college kid ) Luke
  7. I really like cedar, have you gotten on fish there lately? Ive been fishing little grassy and crab orchard and have had trouble keying in on fish
  8. Hello guys!! New to the forum, been fishing since I was a little one, got bit with the bass bug about two years ago (grew up a crappie fiend). Fishing on a budget (broke college kid) 14ft john boat, some baitcasters and a constantly growing tackle bag (bait monkey gets me every time ) Im looking forward to learning from you guys lol Luke
