  1. i may have to try this i went out yesterday and i have it attached to an old baitcaster on the bottom half of a ugly stick, i found it awkward to try to hold the boat steady while trying to hold two rods in my hand, i did get a crankbait back but lost a jig so i will give the chalk line a try
  2. congrats!! thats a nice fish
  3. x2 christie is fishing out of his mind.
  4. I just got mine in from tackle wharehouse and was just wondering in if any of you have used this brand lure knocker and what you thought about it.
  5. one advantage to working for the rail road is unlimited sick days , so needless to say have used my fair share out on the lake lol
  6. same here, if you can get it for that price and it runs good id jump all over it
  7. strike king rage craws are prdominately the only baits i use for texas rigs. i use a owener twist lock hook 4/0 for standard rage craw and 3/0 for the baby craw. and a 1/4 or 3/16 weight depending on the depth.
  8. i agree with everyone else 4.5 or 5 either way congrats on your new PB
  9. strike king rodent or the baby brush hog,
  10. shimano chronarch. i own three and have fished with a lews also and prefer the chronarch
  11. x2 i've got hung up alot less because of the sensitivity , i'm not a big cranking guy but when i do throw them with braId you have a better chance of not losing them
  12. I do know stake beds will hold bass because on my home lake there is stake beds for crappie and i bass fish around them alot and catch bass. The ones in my lake are about 8orit 10 stakes packed in kinda tight .
  13. you may want to try out some different colors, but myself i do very good with the black and blue flake, try out different trailers the rage craws are awesome no doubt but sometimes they want something with less action the strike king perfect plastics trailers are good jig trailers and constantly change up the cadence until you find what they want, glenn posted a video on cold water jig fishing where he talked about the cadence which i find to be true to, sometimes they want it drug on the bottom sometimes you have to give it a couple hops but here lately i have been fishing shallow dirty water with thick brush, and i have been pulling the jig up to a tree limb and hold it if the don't grab it just keep popping the limb with the jig but i have had alot of sucess the past few weeks doing that
  14. i agree with bluebsasser, up until last year i was mostly a bank fisherman, until i was fourtunate enough to get a boat, but as far as spots if you can in any way get to some points there is usually always fish hanging around points. if you do get some cash saved for a good jon boat you can have as much sucess and fun as you would in a bigger boat.
  15. 12 or 15# shooter or seaguar red label, i do like the shooter better tho. I fish in some pretty heavy cover and the 12# works good most of the time, i just think when you get up to using an 1/2 oz jig it feels better on 15# IMHO.
  16. awesome video , and congrats on that hawg it looks bigger than 4-11 to me also.
  17. when you see your line moving or you feel the bite reel down to the fish and set the hook. It has helped me out alot i haven't had a bass get off yet on jigs this year, and this is really the first year i've devoted alot of time to them. When you do reel down and set the hook it seems to always get them in the crusher part of their upper lip, right where you want the hook.
  18. jig and a spinnerbait
  19. i've had good sucess using the rage craws on a buckeye spot remover it will catch you loads of fish.
  20. if there is lots of brush in that river i would go with some sort of soft plastic to if they are not hitting the spinnerbaits, a zoom fluke or strike king rage craw in the standard or baby rage. one thing i realized by fishing rivers alot is that you can let the current work your bait for you alot of times . im not familar with the river you fish but if it has alot of shoals that's where i catch all my smallmouth they will set up right behind brush or rocks and smack the bait when it goes by.
  21. x2 and the invisx
  22. i fish off a boat and at my local lake the best point on the lake is one of the main spots ppl fish from the bank. it is always the first and last spot i hit, but i still go out of my way to not mess up the guys fishing on the bank, i just got a boat last year and i know how it feels to be limited to a few spots.
  23. 1hr to get to my home lake, about 20 mins to fish the river which is where i mostly fish in july and 3hrs to fish cave run lake or cherokee lake which i fish about 2 or three times a year each
  24. the rivers i fish a white spinnerbait and rapala x-raps in the black and silver color do really well. You mentioned not getting hung up but the rebel lures rebel crawdad crankbaits flat out catch the smallmouth, but with any crankbait you may get hung some. hope this helps
  25. At the beginning of the season i made it a goal to get better at fishing jigs and i have caught some nice ones so far on em, but i had some black and blue jig trailers from vinnerbaits that i bought last year which i ended up giving most of the pack to my cousin . i regret that now because to me they are the best trailers for a jig by far durability wise. the fish just can't tear them up because of the insert in them. the company went out of business, so if anybody knows where i might be able to get some or anyone on here happens to have any i would be willing to buy them.
