  1. Around $100 I really like the Compre's. TW has a telesocpic 7'10 Powell Max on sale for $150 though, so if you're top end is 150, I would also consider that.
  2. If its any help, I have a 6'6 M/F Compre spinning rod that I use for pretty much all the applications you mentioned. I'm sure if you put 10# line on the Citica it would be fine for what you're talking about. I have a M/F Dobyns with a Curado 50e that I spooled with 10# fluoro which I also use for finesse presentations up to 1/4oz which I like a lot.
  3. If I was you I would figure out which is more of a priority between the Revo and the kayak. The Revo line is a solid set of reels that should last a long time, so thats where I would put my money when considering your reel decision. Now it just comes down to how badly you want/need a kayak and when you would be able to afford it. Thats my 2 cents anyways
  4. Dobyns Champ Extreme
  5. BPS is a brand name IMO. I think they make a lot of quality products.
  6. I have a Compre spinning rod that I like a lot. I think it would be well worth $100
  7. M/M or MH/M, for cranks and topwaters. Power will depend on the depth, cover, etc. that you will be fishing. MH/F-XF and H/F-XF for Jigs, T and C rigs, Spinners, etc. Just depends on how heavy lures you will be throwing. Since you already have a MH rod you might consider getting a M/F-XF or ML/F-XF set up as well for lighter finesse styler presentations like drop shots, shakey heads, splitshot rigs, weightless plastics, etc.
  8. Pro Qualifier. It has a dual braking system vs the mag brakes of the SS. I have 2 and I am very suprised at the quality of reel you get for the price.
  9. BPS PQ/Carbonlite Combo. For 160 thats a great deal.
  10. Cost aside, Curado. Cost considered, PQ.
  11. So big you couldn't pull her out of the water?
  12. I haven't used one, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Duckett Magic series. They range 150-170 so its right at the top end + a little but I really believe in getting the best/most sensitive rod for bottom contact presentations. You might also consider a Powell Max. The 7' rods run about 140. While I haven't used a Max either, I do have an Endurance and its a great rod. Both companies have a great rep so I would feel confident buying either one.
  13. x2. I would just add the Phenix M1 and Powell Endurance to the list. Really though, you cant go wrong with any of those choices and they are well within your budget.
  14. For an inexpensive combo, thats not a bad choice
  15. Agree with WW2Farmer. Go with that advice
  16. Nice choices. I would also recommend bumping up the line to 12#. Im not sure what the breaking strength is of 10, but everything I've read on the 12# is that its around 19#s. Expecially on a MH Abu rod, I would want something a little more robust.
  17. 12# Yo Zuri. It will be more versatile IMO. FC sinks = no top water.
  18. I have a Dobyns Champ and a Phenix M1. I would say the Champ is more sensitive but the M1 is pretty close behind. I know that doesn't necessarily tell you specifically about the Recon, but from my experience and everything that I've read Phenix makes the best bang for your buck in the 180 dollar price range, IMO.
  19. I used mine for jigs and t rigs
  20. I like the Villain, just not at full price. I do think it is by far the top of the line of the Abu rods, but I also feel that it is overpriced for what you get. I like the reel seat and handle more than the Veritas, but I still prefer a Fuji style grip/seat. If you are paying full price at 180, I would suggest looking at a Phenix M1/Recon, St. Croix Avid, Powell Max/Endurance or a Duckett Magic rod.
  21. With the price on the PQ coming up at BPS, I'd get the PQ. I still don't understand how that nice of a reel can be had for 70-80 dollars in the store.
  22. Cant say for the lighet spinning rods, but my 7'2H/F is great. I'd put the sensitivity up there with my Dobyns Champ. At their price I would definitely consider buying another
