  1. I haven't tried any megabass but I really like my lucky craft lures
  2. Don't know if anyone has posted something about this yet, but I just saw it on YouTube
  3. Both are most successful
  4. Senkos
  5. I can usually get a couple on one plastic. Surprisingly I haven't had the arms get pulled off of the rage craws like I have with other craws/Beaver lures. One recommendation I have is to pick up some Mend-it. If a plastic looks best up I replace it and fix it up when I get home. Saves a bunch of plastics and money. Obviously not 100% as some get beat up beyond repair or thrown, but it keeps more plastics usable for longer for me
  6. I used to use it a ton. I've kind of gotten away from it for some reason. I may rig one up next time I'm out
  7. X2
  8. I just separate the appendages
  9. This is way too funny
  10. Tp would be my recommendation. The bb1 reels are more geared for heavier lures. If you're throwing 1.5s I'd get the tp
  11. don't really peg, but if I do I use bobber stops
  12. Not a bad deal. That might be a couple bucks cheaper than what I can find it for
  13. One day.
  14. I took the rod out last night for a little bit at a local pond and so far I have to agree. And I really don't see myself changing my mind either. The rod is so light that the balance really is not an issue. I may be saving up a bit more for an even nicer/lighter reel than I had planned but the lews tp is definitely OK with me until then.
  15. Probably depends on the specific bps
  16. I don't use a leader a ton. Only time I'm going to use one 100% is around rocks. I haven't had any issues that I can remember in wood. Like RW said though, breaking off is much easier with a leader.
  17. Thanks for all the input guys. This is the first casting rod other than a Dobyns I've purchased in a while and the main reason is because of the balance of the Dobyns. I think I mentioned it before but I'm not saying the balance is bad with the combo of the tp and the Cumulus. Just not exactly what I'd like. And I'll add that the light weight of the rod doesn't seem to make it cumbersome to overcome the tip heaviness. In the end it's all going to come down to personal preference. I'll try a bunch of reels on this weekend at bps and see what I like, if anything haha.
  18. Other than holding it in store, no. If you like the handles and guides I would say to go for it. I've had Avids in the past and really like the SCIII blank. If you can stick your reel on it I would try and do that. I know there are others on this forum that do have experience with the rod so if that's where you're looking starting another thread might be a good idea to get better feedback.
  19. Hence why I said that 80 sounds like a good deal to me for the villain. But if you are willing to spend 150ish, I would look for another rod. If you're looking to spend 80, then go for the villain. My point is I would spend more money on another rod even with the discount on the villain, but that's just my 2 cents.
  20. I'm very confused as to why you have ($80) next to Abu villain then...And no, I'd look at other rods, but you can spend your money however you like
  21. Depends on weights, cover, etc. A medium is fine though as long as it's appropriate.
  22. The g series are fine reels imo. They get some flack as many feel they are a step down from the E, which I agree with. But the g series is a good deal at 80 bucks. I like the lews more but if money is a concern then I'd get the g
  23. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I'll be going to BPS this weekend so I'll bring the rod with me and try some reels on it. Still curious to suggestions anyone has though. Thanks for all the feedback so far.
  24. This is more along the lines of what I was thinking. I wouldn't say I'm displeased with the way it balances with the TP. The simple fact of how lightweight the set up is seems to make up for the bit of tip-heaviness that I'm experiencing right now. I was just wondering if an ounce would take the balance point back enough to my liking. I'll try out the quarter trick though and see how it works.
