  2. Most helpful? I dunno. Most favorite? NRX 852s and Stella 2500HGS (when it gets here)
  3. I like braid to a leader. The leader changes depending on the conditions.
  4. Mostly 3/8 and 1/2 oz would be better on a 5 power imo. A 4 power could handle that for sure, but if that is going to be the majority I'd step it up to a 5 power.
  5. Trick worm.
  6. I've had best outcomes using them t-rigged, but as already mentioned, there are lots of ways to use them.
  7. I use a 853c for t-rigged stick worms. I have a 852s on the way which I also plan on using for wacky rigged stick worms, among other things.
  8. What Hootie said
  9. Yes would be my answer, but I've never handled either.
  10. I fish both often and don't really know what makes me decide to be honest. I see if one or the other works. I don't throw any large plastics on a shakey head, but I will throw things like 6-7'' worms, tubes, flukes, and craws on both. Again, if one is working, great, if not, then I'll try the other.
  11. Shimano Metanium XG
  12. I'd go for the PQ or maybe the Curado if you are looking for another reel. Like DVT said, the PQ is probably the best bang for your buck. I've had a couple in past years, and while I've upgraded to much more expensive reels, I would not be upset with using a PQ by any means.
  13. I prefer the size of the 50 (or 1000) sizes from Shimano. I haven't had the scorpion, but I have owned both the Curado, Chronarch, Core 51's and still own the Aldebaran BFS. Unless you're looking at using the reel for something that requires a large line capacity I would go for the Scorpion. The Chronarch Ci4+ is a fine reel. I did like it, but I just preferred the other reels. Some people don't like the smaller size but I think most people like the size of the 50's. There are more options in the Ci4+ as far as gear ratios and I feel like both reels will handle the same applications similarly for the most part (again, with the exception of techniques that require a large line capacity). Overall, I don't think you can go wrong either way.
  14. Throw both, see what the fish want.
  15. Haha, yeah. I'm not comparing apples to apples unfortunately. I think Goose did a review on here with the new Metanium DC. I've never had a DC reel, but the 13 Metanium is my favorite reel that I've used thus far. I like it more than the Cores and Steezes I've used, among others that you have listed in your current line up. It's ultimately up to you if the refinement/technology of the DC is worth the extra coin.
  16. I've had the Chronarch Ci4+ and currently have the Metanium. Personally, I like the Metanium way more. The whole feel of the reel, the way it palms, the retrieve, and overall connectedness throughout the reel is better than the Ci4+ in my hands. The 96mm handle on the XG is a very nice addition as well. Don't get me wrong. I did really like the Ci4+, but I'll take my Metanium any day over the Ci4+. I also never get anything full price. Wait for sales or if you're comfortable buying used you can find them for $300 or less. Sorry, just realized you're talking about the Metanium DC. I'm talking about the 2013 Metanium. I'll still leave up my post though.

    Swim Jig

I actually like the grub most
  19. The 5 powers are a great jig rods. Personally I found them to be more than I needed. I don't fish anything over 1/2 oz (jig, trig, spinnerbait, etc.) and I found the 744 to be enough. The 4 power in my opinion is the most versatile in the Dobyns line. If you need the extra power, definitely step up to the 5 power. personally, I would have rather had two 4 powers, but that's just because they fit my style of fishing better. I also really like the 2 power casting rods from dobyns. I've had the dx742c and champion 702c. I really like both and still have the 742c. really, I think there's a lot of overlap between the 3 and 4 power and a 2 power would add more across the spectrum. But, this is also coming from a guy that likes senkos and shakey heads a lot.
  20. Dobyns 705cb daiwa steez 100hla 30# green power pro braid Lucky craft or strike king no replacement hooks
  21. All around. 6:1 imo.
  22. Memorial Day sales should happen pretty soon. Most places should have sales of 10% or more.
  23. Nice. The Champion line is a nice series, especially under $200
  24. This.Plus there is the bfs model of the Aldebaran which is specifically for lightweight lures if you're interested in going that route. It's even smaller than the standard aldebaran with the side plate being mostly flat. It can do more than just bfs stuff to. I have the Aldebaran bfs and the metanium xg. Between the two, I'd pick the met just because of how well rounded it is, how smooth and connected it feels, and the longer handle is a nice feature as well.
  25. which aldebaran and which metanium?
