  1. Looking to get a 7' mh rod for spinnerbaits. Anybody have this size in either of the rods and can tell me if it is true to size or too big/small for a spinnerbait rod. Also ghost vs veritas
  2. First jig fish was on a strike king Greg hackney jig in Texas craw with a rage tail watermelon red craw trailer. Been trying all day and my partner in the front missed a fish on a crank and I pitched by the same tree and soon as I let it touch bottom I hopped it once then he took off and I ripped the hookset and caught him. Only a 1 pounder but a big accomplishment that got me hooked.
  3. I've had good success with crankbaits but when that's not working I switch to a slow presentation like dropshots and other finesse approaches
  4. Often during these times I finnese fish with dropshots and such or just slow fish plastics weightless. Here in Louisiana fall-winter is usually 35° outside at the lowest. No idea of water temps
  5. Lucie strike rick clunn crankbaits. I have a few of them and none of them run crooked and none have broken. The only bad thing is they don't have bluegill and crawfish colors.
  6. I have the camo one which is the same thing but with camo. I have had it for a year and the rod has caught many 3+ fish including a 5 1/2 lber
  7. I've used them once on a jig also made by hart. The rattle goes into the fat part of the trailer. My bass pro has the trailers and the jigs for 1.99 each. Not bad trailers but I rather paca or rage craws, even though this is just confidence.
  8. In Louisiana we call them goggle-eye.
  9. I have live targets, spros and booyah padcrashers. I have tried cutting one leg and leaving the other alone, I have also tried trimmingboth legs and all they do is kind of pop straight ahead. No walk the dog or no side movement, just straight ahead. So how do you cut yours and how do you make it walk?
  10. My best friend has a flipping stick and a cranking rod by them. They are fairly nice rods and very sensative(flipping stick). Honestly not the lightest rods but not too heavy.
  11. 3 of my top 5 fish out of ponds have been night fishing soft plastics slow
  12. Mister twister Poc'it craws have air pockets that produce bubbles when retrieved. Saw them at a sportsman show and they look really good. http://www.mistertwister.com/press-releases/mister-twister-pocit-series-lures-release-bubbles.php
  13. If its half as reliable as the mettle it should be a pretty good reel.
  14. I would throw on the roots and work it away from the trees. All my hits were when it was 2-3 feet away. They would just barely pick it up and run with it.
  15. This weekend I fished the Louisiana High school championship on Caddo lake and the only way we could catch a fish was drop shotting cypress trees in 7-8 ft of water.. People were throwing jigs but couldn't get bit then we would go right behind them after they left and catch 1 or 2 on a drop shot. This was my first time finesse fishing and it seemed like we were the only people to do this. Overall we got 17th place out of 43 boats(not too bad for my first tournament on a lake i never fished before). We had 3 fish under the slot for 3 lbs total at weigh in (slot was 14-18 inches). We also caught a few in the slot. How many of you drop shot trees often or have in the past?
  16. I will be participating in the tournament this Sunday. I'm leaving to go to Shreveport today and pre fishing today and tomorrow. Its on caddo lake. Do other states have high school championships like this too?
  17. Im ordering hooks online and i dont know what size to get. A little bit bigger than stock is fine and also what brand?
  18. I dont wanna spend much, how much better is the clarus for $59.99 after 25% off?
  19. Anybody own one or has used one and want to give me an opinion on them? Im thinking about the 6'8" cranking rod for squarebills and shallow runners. They are on sale at TW for $37. Any help appreciated!
  20. This year ive been having great sucess on putting a paddle tailed soft plastic swimbait on the back. Bulks it up a little more and gives it extra action
  21. I have a friend that swears by them and he never fails to catch fish on them just like any other paddle tail minnow. He uses H&H cockahoe minnows which are like $2 for a pack of 10 and holdup for a good number of fish. Its the same think with a paddle tail and all. Yes the action might not be as great but he still slays fish with them. The other day he had pearl with chartreuse tails on an Alabama rig and the one in the middle way hot pink and he caught a few on it. Every time i fish with him he uses them and catches fish. I just wanted to see if anybody else does this
  22. Everything is on sale just about. I got live targets for 7.99 and many other things
