I like an 1/8 oz bullet weight for t rigging shallow but when you first start out a 3/16 or the 1/4 oz you have might be a little better for "feel". A bite might feel like your holding a guitar with your eyes closed and someone picked your string.
My bow mount foot controlled trolling motor when pressed forward or backwards spins 360 degrees before it stops. Is there a way to adjust this? Its very aggravating and I hate the excess noise from the spin.
Love the Bitsy bug for Smallies too.My go-to bait on small streams down to a 1/16th oz on 6lb line. My PB smallmouth came on the crawfish color and a pumpkin bitsy craw.
Tyson chicken tenders kept cold,my fishing buddys wife makes them the night before and they are great.Love cold water, had days in the summer when I was young I would of paid $20.00 for a Gatorade.
Cadman, tequila has been a great producer for me in stained and even muddy water.Theres some lakes I used to fish in the eastern part of the state(VA) very tannic and swampy that I wouldnt leave home without a bag or two in this color.

I was about twelve years old and rode my bike about three miles every weekend to the city water supply lake. They had an old fishing pier at the end of the lake and armed with two Zebco 33 combos I was ready for action. One rod had a chartreuse grub for whatever was biting. The other had a yellow spinnerbait, single colorado blade.I remember because they were gifts for my birthday along with a tacklebox filled with other lures from my family.
It was early April and not long after my start I caught a small crappie about six inches long.It was my first crappie on an artificial so I put it on the stringer to show my friends if they showed up later. Not long after a game warden approached and asked how my luck was going.I said a little slow and pointed at my stringer. When he saw how small my fish were; although legal, he smiled. He said if he was fishing he pointed at the shore and my spinnerbait setup and recommended me give it a try.He wished me luck and as he was walking back to his vehicle I grabbed my rod and gave it a cast.
I think I got about three or four turns of the reel when all hell broke lose. The biggest bass to date I have ever seen was tailwalking in front of me with a yellow spinnerbait in the corner of its mouth. It was splashing so loud I turned to see if the warden heard all the racket .I almost yelled for help when the giant jumped one last time sending my lure back in my direction.I heard his truck start and pull away and all I wanted was someone to say wow that was incredible but it didnt happen that way.I cut that crappie loose because I was no longer a perch jerker like the rest of my fishing buddies(at least not for the rest of that day).I was a Bass Hunter.
Been fishing Bill Normans stuff for almost 25years,price hasnt gone up much over that time. You get value for your dollar and one of the best color selections out there.Ive had the DLN save a tournament for me in early March when I couldnt buy a bite on a jig.Water was in the mid 40's and they wanted it slow retrieved aroung rip rap and chunk rock.
Dog Skull under a bridge, a cormorant, mallard, and watched my buddy hook a bumper on a moving vehicle while striper fishing the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.
