  1. Hey guy's. I have been wanting to get a crossbow and have been looking into the Horton Fury. Do any of you know much about it? Is it good, accurate, quiet, etc.? If you have any other idea's on crossbow's, let me know. Thank's!
  2. I live in Central NJ and even though they are rare, I have caught several in the 7-9 lb range, two in the 10-12 lb range, and hundreds around 5 lbs.
  3. Do as mentioned above by Dwight Hottle, but first of all, ask him where he think's his property line ends. If that does not work, try tying the lines under water where only you know where they are. If he keeps coming back, I would go somewhere else.
  4. Welcome to BR!
  5. Very nice catfish! I use hotdogs for bait as well.
  6. That's what life, fishing and everything good is all about. Out with the family, catching fish and having a good time. You said he is obsessed with fishing and hunting. Make sure to post pic's of him shooting his first 12 ga!
  7. Do you shoot out to 400-600 yds with your .243? My dad used to woodchuck hunt in other states with a .243 and make his own loads which almost melted the barrel they went so fast, and I am not kidding either. He would consistently do this. He could hit the face of a watch at 600 yds.
  8. Very nice day of fishing. I wish I knew places around here for trophy smallmouths.
  9. A 12 ga with 3 inch shells and buck shot for close in shots( out to 40 yds ) but in NJ you can't use rifle's but I have a fairly extensive knowledge of hunting so I would say a .30-06 or .308. X2
  10. I use a Benelli Super nova 12 ga and a stoger condor youth 20 ga gun for goose, pheasnt, rabbit, and other small game plus deer. May be using it for hog's soon. Also I use a Bear youth bow with a 27 inch draw and 45 pound draw for deer. Finally, i use pellet guns from Crosman and Gamo to humanely take out pests like tree rats and crows.
  11. I need to start to get out of fishing mode and start dialing in my compound!
  12. Wow, that is a monster, and a heart breaker.
  13. Soon it will just shake it out.
  14. Sound's like a pretty fun day! Great job.
  15. X2 and dont feel bad. I had a MONSTER bass on not that long ago that ended getting off the hook for me.
  16. I would try jitterbugs or a KVD sexy dawg or sexy dawg jr. but I think if you would want to have the best chance USE LIVE TARGET LURES! I would use the bluegill or smelt because they both don't run that deep. A live target frog may also produce.
  17. I have caught one on a fly that looked like a gnat. Great fun. And my hand was bruised so it took a lot of time to get him.
  18. I have caught spotted bass on a plain nightcrawler tossed into the stream. I use to fish a stream while standing on a big rock with an overhanging tree and they would shoot out from under the rock.
  19. In central NJ, some of the body's of water here are being affected, but not much. Everything is just down a few feet. Still have been catching fish though.
  20. Welcome a catch a lunker for all of us!
  21. WOW! That look's like a hell of a lot of fun. I have went down to Key West twice and mostly caught snappers and needlefish. Would have loved to hook into a tarpon! Went to a thing where you bought a bucket of baitfish and stuck your hand above water or tossed them in and there were so many tarpon you could walk on them. I mean hundreds.

  23. From the album: Fishing

Caught it on a lindy rig with shiners at Assunpink lake. Caught another one that size that day also.
  24. Beautiful permit, and from shore! Congrat's on your first permit!
