  1. Correct me if I'm wrong here but nobody has mentioned this. I believe MG and MK both use different plugs therefore if you switch to a MK you will also have to purchase a different receptacle to plug it into. Just something to keep in mind if simplicity is important in your upgrade/installation.
  2. Sorry the stocking post was meant for another thread. Not sure how I managed to get it in here lol
  3. Football head jig for rocks my friend. Nice discovery!
  4. I believe we spoke! I was the guy launching the 1980 Hydra Sport bass boat when I think you were coming out. Now if that was you did you weight that 10-12lber you said ya caught
  5. Ya but it has the vertical lines of a smallie and no sign of the trademark horizontal black line that runs down the side of largies. The mouth to me was pretty small, she weighted right around 2lbs.
  6. Call me crazy but did I really just catch a Smallmouth out of the "Dead Sea"? To me it looks like a light colored smallie and she sure fought like one but I need some verification please! She took a 1/2 oz Predator Jig in "That Color" + Watermelon Red Flake Rage Lobster w/ fully JJ's dipped chart claws.
  7. Zoom 10" Ol Monster, Rage Tail Anaconda 7" & 10"
  8. I do this it works great. Get a fish gripper, mine has a little rope on the end of it I guess to hang on the wall or put around your wrist. I use that to grip the fishes lip and simply put the hook of the scale on the little rope on the grip weight and subtract the weight of the grip. It's very quick, easy I doubt anymore harmful to the fish than thumbing it and you get the fish back in the water in about 10 or 15 seconds more than if you didn't weight it.
  9. Hey I have a 1980 Merc Tower of Power 90HP and recently found out I need to replace my lower unit due to my prop shaft being bent. I ordered one off ebay that was supposed to be compatible but it turns out the unit that I ordered is an "EZ Shift" model and has a spring loaded pin on the top of the drive shaft. The original lower unit I dropped from my motor did not have this "EZ Shift". I spoke to a couple marine mechanics and both seemed somewhat unfamiliar with this situation and one told me I can just grind the pin off and another told me it will fit anyhow and may just change my gear ratio requiring a different prop. I am uneasy about simply shaving the pin off because if that destroys the lower unit I can no longer resell it to buy a different one and I'm out the money spend on it. I'm not certain on if the spring loaded pins function is with the upper end which would make me think it's actual ok to grind it off or with the lower end which if shaved off might result in the gears unable to engage. The "EZ Shift" lower unit clearly wont fit as you can see the pin hitting and it just wont go. Is anyone familiar with these "EZ Shift" lower units? Is it really ok if I just grind the pin off or do I need to sell this lower unit and buy one without the "EZ Shift" feature. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. If you have a tow capable vehicle and want something a little roomier than a yak, you can definately find a decent 12-14' aluminum boat for less than less than $1000. Slap a small outboard on it or just a trolling motor and your good to go without spending to much money.
  11. I have the Plueger President 656 and the Plueger Trion 208 both great reels with no issues.
  12. Moaner Hooks Predator Jig + Rage Craw
  13. Totally depends on your budget and the water you plan to fish. If your not fishing any big waters where you really need an outboard a yak or canoe is a good option or a cheap older aluminum boat for well under $1000 w/ a trolling motor is another option. You can also get older bass boats for cheap but they will take time and money to bring them to life again. I bought a 1980 16' Bass Boat this summer for $2500 and put roughly another $1000 into her for new carpet, seats, outboard service, fish finder and other misc things and she's great!
  14. lol anxiously awaiting the rest of the story.
  15. How signifigant is the difference in stability between the 175 and the Z6? I to am considering one or the other in the comming years or one of Tritons boats that fall in the Z6 price range. I currently have a 1980 Hydra Sport 158Vee glass boat but will be looking to upgrade to something with a much larger deck in the next few years. Will I be dissapointed going from glass to the 175 alum as far as stablility goes when fishing with 2 on board? Arent Nitro made by Tracker of vice versa, same people?
  16. The rooster does look like an awesome bait. I haven't had much success on creature baits and even craws though this summer, been fishing the rage tail craws and space monkeys with no luck but killing it with the anacondas and other 10" worms.
  17. I'm guilty, I tend to bring two or three at most for myself when I plan on fishing 5-8 hours. I know it's not the smartest thing but I only do it on smaller quieter electric only lakes where the rangers don't come out on the water to bother you. I will not bring any on board when operating the outboard.
  18. Depends on the boat and state. In PA you have to take a boating safety course to operate a motor greater than 25hp. It can be done online and definately good knowledge.
  19. They look very much like the Rage Tail Anacondas and or Recon Worms to me. I can vouch for the Anaconda's, the bass love em! Let us know how those work out for you.
  20. I feel your pain. I always catch and release but in the rare event that I gut hook a fish like a couple weeks ago and I injur the fish to much or can't remove the hook safely for the fish to survive, it's the one and only time I bring the fish home and filet it. I feel it's better to eat the fish and not let the fish go to waste than to release it only to die in the water.
  21. Any other soft plastics, curly tail worms, lizards, creature baits, craws, swim baits, T-Rig, Drop Shot, etc. Jigs work as well, anything with trebels I find near impossible to fish in thick weeds.
  22. I just started fishing the Anaconda just like I do any curly tail worm. Normally weightless on 4/0 or 5/0 hook T-Rig let it sink to bottom lift up, reel a couple times, rinse and repeat and I've found success. I have some of the Shad but have yet to put much effort into them. I plan to on my next outing.
  23. I will do this, thanks Mat!
  24. the dot is where people pop it through the lip or the proper place to gill hook it?
  25. That's about what it felt like. I wish I wasn't such a putz with the scale.
