Last night I had good luck with the River2Sea Whopper Plopper. Baby Loon color. It's the smaller, bass-sized version of the famous muskie lure. Even caught a couple of 10 inch bass on it.... and it's a 5.5 inch lure.

Thanks, tipptruck! I will not have a boat and most likely will not rent a boat/hire a guide. I hope there are some decent spots to fish from the shoreline. I am looking forward to fishing for some different species. It's all Largemouth, bluegill, crappie, and catfish around here.

I live in the southern part of Illinois, but I am going to be on vacation at the Chula Vista resort in Wisconsin Dells July 14-19. It's my understanding that the resort is located directly on the Wisconsin River and has some easily accessible fishing spots. Is anyone familiar with the Wisconsin River in that area? What types of lures should I use? What species of fish can I expect to catch? Thanks!!
