  1. I have fondled the Lews a few times, they are fantastic reels. Very smooth and feel very solid. That said, I went with the new Revo s. I know how to work on Abu's and the new look it dead sexy.
  2. Give a man a hamburger he eats for a day. Give a man a Chronarch, he eats for a life time!
  3. The MGX looks beautiful, but for that price I may have treat it like a good stripper. Look but no touch
  4. I hear ya. Luckily my local Bass Pro had one to look at. Mine will be here tomorrow of you want any measurements etc
  5. Hey all. Have a question about the Boca Orange seal bearings when using braid. I've done a bunch of searching and can't pin down the question. I have two of the same reel. One with 30# braid and the other with 12# fluoro. The reel with 30# braid is my top water rig. Same lure with both reels will go 15-20 feet further on a cast when using fluoro. I've tested to see if it's the reel or rod. Same rod and I switched the line on both reels. Basically the fluoro will cast further. That being said, I was thinking about switching out the bearings on my top water reel to the Orange seal bearings. I don't want to switch away from braid on my top water rig as its almost perfect for what I use it for. So guys using orange seal bearings with braid, did you notice a major increas in distance when you switched to the Boca's? Thanks in advance
  6. Operation Revo S is done for me! Bought mine from BP online today. I have 2 STX's Gen 2. I seriously doubt I will upgradet them for the new ones. These are sooooo smooth and sweet.
  7. You can go straight braid if you want to or just run some electrical tapeon the spool. I would however back it with some mono. I use 12# mono to back it. I prefer to go with something that has a stand out color that is opposite of my braid color. You will never use all the braid on a spool. I would back it to save the braid.Never know when you are going to have to break off, backlash or just need to replace the line. Having the extra on the main spool left will help save funds.
  8. Gawd that's a beast. What'd it weigh?
  9. This is not always the case, but the smaller the bait, the smaller the fish. Bigger bait bigger fish. My personal best was off a 2" black beetle spin while fishing for crappie so it's not always the case. The smaller jigs will most likely trigger more bites and give you more fish. Not so much quality fish, but fish. Alot of people start off with bitsy bugs as they are cheap. The first time you try a bait people want something cheap As for trailers I just match them to my jigs. Blue black jigs get blue rage craws. Any jig with green in it, gets green pumpkin rage craws. Brown the same. Those are the only colors I use. I also like to use tubes on swim jigs. Makes for some killer skirt action. I love black Blue tube on a black blue jig.
  10. I would have shat. I don't need another rod but for that price, dang.
  11. I decided on the 7'11" Heavy for pitching. The 7'6" MH didn't have near the backbone
  12. This is my top water rig for everything but frogs. I can zing a small popr way out there
  13. There were a ton of people in there today. I went and exchanged a reel today. There were still a bunch of the stick baits left but most of the crank bait deals were sold out.
  14. 8 down and 8 up makes for a monster ball of a knot. I go 9 and 3 cause I don't like evens. Never had this knot fail. I use it for backing to main line and main line to leader.
  15. I just cant see throwing down the money for a magnetic break reel. If you want an upgrade off the Revo S, the STX is only 30 dollars more than the SX. I cant back lash mine to save my life.
  16. For spooks, soft plastics and pop-r's 7' medium micro guide rod.
  17. I made myself laugh too. Thanks though. I do want to give one a run. I don't care for the look of the winch model and I would eventually like to get another cranking set up so that may be the one
  18. If I caught a fish that big you could stuff coal in my bum and pull out shiny diamonds. The pucker factor would be about 9.5!
  19. I would agree. I started off with an 88. My dad taught me baitcasters reel with right hold with left. When I asked why, his answer was because grandpa told me to
  20. If I had to go with one, I would say the 7' MH. Tip is Kinda stiff for a crank bait rod. I would suggest something in a fiberglass rod made for cranking.
  21. I used to play with Shatmano's when I was a little boy, but I grew up and gave my old toys away for better ones called Abu's ;) Seriously I have been eyeing the Citca I think it's called 120ish in price, but that new Revo is just dead sexy!
  22. I just called Boca on my Revo STX and the 3 bearing pack was 45. I may get those after the new Revo. Project Revo for me as begun!
  23. When I do have break off its usually before the knot about 1-2 feet. I mark my line with a marker 1-2 feet up from the knot and the broken line is marked. I use the improved clinch for my braid.
  24. Not always. If your line doesn't break at the knot, it may be the knot was stronger than the line
  25. Agreed. Untill Abu makes a 4.7:1, I will probably always keep my PQ on my cranking rod.
