  1. X2. Also ask him how many backlashes he's had on that line, the age of the line and if there were any kinks from backlashes.
  2. The C3 has a proven track record no doubt. It's a tank that keeps going and going. I've never tried to pitch with a round reel. Sitting here thinking about it, it would be tuff with the small thumb bar. The C3 is alot harder to adjust. You have to take it apart to adjust the breaks for wind, heavier or lighter baits etc. The Revo S is quick and easy. I have owned a C3. It was a great reel but didn't like the thumb bar and not being able to adjust the breaks. Round reels don't fit me very well. I have small hands and the super low profile of the S fits me better.
  3. Well today with some wind, using 3 brakes and a weightless caffeine 5" shad, I was getting 30-35 yards in an average cast. Alot of your distance is going to matter on what rod your using and the weight of the bait. I have a medium fast 7' micro guide rod on mine and it loads very well. If you used a heavy action rod less than 6 foot for example, your distance will be short. But if I could answer your question easier, the distance is awesome. Better than my two Gen 2 STX's
  4. For look feel and extras yes they are better. As for it holding up to the abuse year to year, we won't be able to know for awhile. I bought mine the day the hit the market about 6-7 months ago. No issues with mine so far.
  5. How much experience with a bait caster do you have? The SX has mag breaks only. They are great for pitching and flipping, but an over all casting reel or work horse reel, I don't like them. They are also more difficult to use for a beginner. The S has a sweet breaking system. You can fine tune it for any condition or application.
  6. Oooooooo Ya I got nothing!
  7. Just remember BP has the online code VISIT20GC to enter. Any online purchase of 100 dollars or more gets a free 20 dollar gift card.
  8. A good start would be to set a budget first. I have a Shimano Crucial 6'8" top water specific rod that should be here in a couple of days. The reviews on it were really good. It ran 160. Before that I was using a 7' micro Veritas. It runs 70-100
  9. See how smart this guy when the subject is about Abu Garcia????? In a serious note, this is good info
  10. I also forgot to add, that Bass Pro is having a special right now. With order online only, add coupon code VISIT20GC at check out and you get a free 20 dollar BP gift card too. That ends up bringing your total of the rod down to 79.99
  11. What kind of top water and what size of baits? If you wanting something to throw frogs in the slop with, a medium really wont work well. If your looking to throw poppers and small jerk baits, your medium will work great. i If I set myself a budget, I try and stay under it. That way, I can buy extra stuff like hooks, baits etc. Too stay under your budget and get a really good top water rod, give the Micro guide rods by Veritas a shot. I have the 7' Medium fast and that sucker is super super light. I would imagine that the 6'6" would even be lighter. Mine is super balanced with the Revo I have on it. I can throw just about anything with it. When it comes to throwing a small 1/4 Pop'R, it loads well, but is a bit to much rod for the bait. I switched to a glass 6'8" Medium/Medium fast for that, but for everything else, it works great. You're new here so I will let you know about this guy LMG above me......The guy is an absolute nut about anything Abu Garcia. When you see him say anything about Shimano products, hes really just full of it
  12. I don't see where he shot down any idea. I thought this was a discussion forum.
  13. Yep. Most of OSU's are in wrestling thoughn
  14. You were 12 in 94? God I'm old lol
  15. Also, I just bought two GL2 Gloomis rods off the fle market here for just over a bill a piece. Seller has one more 7'1" MH. That's a 200 plus rod with lifetime warranty
  16. Glad it's just that, an opinion. I have 4 Veritas rods. 2 are super sensitive and the other two are not so much. The lighter the action the more sensitive they are
  17. How bout the Paul Harvey Dodge!!!!!
  18. Yep! I will never get rid of mine. It's in a 4.7:1. Super slow for slow cranking and spinner baits. They are tanks.
  19. The Revo S is a different breed compared to the BP line. The Pro Qualifier is close at 99 dollars. You know only 30 bucks more and you can get an S.
  20. The MGX from Abu is designed for it. It will cast some of the lightest lures. Its pricey, but works well.
  21. No problem. If you subscribe to their email they send those out all the time. I am wanting the Gen 3 Revo Winch. I may hold off until spring for it too.
  22. 3rd gens? I found them for 180 plus shipping was the best. TW has 199 shipped
  23. Not to sound sappy, but my best purchase so far in the last year is this place. Ive learned more about bass fishing in the last year, than I have in the first 32
