  1. I had tried jerkbaits and walk the dog lures with my MHM Avid and I couldn't get the cadence down to save my life. That said, the rod loads like a wet noodle at the tip, but has a hellova back bone for cranking. That may be the only rod I never switch over to or get rid of as it is absolutely perfect for the way I like to crank. I almost never have to even set the hook. I just pivot my body away from the bait and it loads up perfect.
  2. Are you having any issues with the rod recovering too slowly when working the bait?
  3. The reason I was looking at the 684 or 704CB was I've been told the tip is faster than most industry standard moderate?
  4. Ive got the exact same Kent, except for I have a CU50E instead. Mainly off your recommendation and a few others. I have yet to land a fish over 2#'s. That fast action kind worries me with treble baits. I've had bad luck in the past with a fast action over a moderate. How does it handle for larger fish?
  5. I'm currently using an Avid 6'6" MF with a CU50E and Sunline mono in 12#. Mainly off of recommendations here. I have been pondering switching over to a Dobyns for my jerkbait rod, but I don't know if I want the slower tip yet. I like the recovery as stated above when working the bait. It also doubles as my top water rig and I can work a KVD dog like a mother! I would like to have a bit longer length for longer casts, but I'm only 5'9" and fish on the bank about 75% of the time. The longer rod makes working the bait a bit harder for me.
  6. I'm actually using the 6'6" MF Avid for jerkbaits right now. I like how it feels, but I'm slowly switching over to all Dobyns. I'm not 100% sure i want to switch yet though.
  7. I'm looking for guys who own both or either one. I want to try a 684CB for jerkbaits and topwaters, but no one around here has one locally to try or hold. I have an Avid MHM cranking rod and its just way to whippy for anything but cranking. I have been eyeballing the 684CB for some time but want to know how does it compare in flex to say the Avid cranking rod or better yet the 6'6MF Avid? Thanks in advance!
  8. Sounds like a Dobyns 734 or 744 may fit the bill. I personally don't like the Cumara line of rods. Everything about them is great except for the grip. Its too short for me.
  9. Where are you having the luck?
  10. A couple weeks ago I was messing around with the GPS at work and found a small body of water near the campus. It used to be called Thompson Lake but they changed the name over to Eagle Lake when OKC purchased it. Cops in the area told me they cleaned it up and its a back up water supply for OKC if thunderbird goes dry. Lots of Crappie and bass. Talked with a few people who have fished it and most have said the best way is to get a small boat you can launch from shore and fish the north end. Its 9 degrees here so I went out there today on shore. I had to quit due to equipment freezing up, but the lake looks promising. No major area of cover but there are a few decent points on the north and east side. 2 bucks a day to fish and easy to get to.
  11. I've been out there every day for the last week. I haven't had a bite one yet. The last doubt we had really killed the lake. All I've seen caught and caught myself have been year old fish that they restocked this year. Provided we have a few good years of rain like this year, it may turn out to be a pretty good place.
  12. I wouldn't. They go for well over that looking like they made it through Armageddon on ebay.
  13. I really like the color on them. I really never heard a bad thing about them either. I have put one on my bucket list. Great find man!

  20. Thank you very much Felix. This was a great gift. I got a spool of 20# PP braid, 5 1/4oz Megastrike Shakey heads, pack of Luck E Strike Tubes ( which by the way is an awesome tube in the red craw color. This will be one of my new favorite tubes), 2 packs of Zoom tubes and a Red Eye Shad from Strike King. Its a Firetiger with orange belly. Perfect color for the dirty water here. Thanks again bud. This was a great box.
  21. I have been thinking of getting one. I'll run by academy and pick one up tomorrow if no one has responded by then. I need an excuse to break out the new go pro.
  22. I got my loot last night and was blown away. Does anyone know if they threads been made yet? I couldn't wait till christmas lol
  23. Yup, but if Bobby made a tube in a blue green okeechobee color and a red craw falcon lake color, I would dump every tube I have and switch to the Megastrikes……….
