  1. Your opinion on the G without ever handling one means absolute jack! Thats about 9000 pounds of stupid in a 2 pound bag
  2. How is this a better deal that a 7 pack of Rage Craws for 4.99
  3. Here is my opinion on the whole pro Strike King on this board. When I first joined last year, it was Strike King or go home. Everything else was not worth your coin, was what I took from it. I tried several other products and would not purchase anything Strike King because of the general crappy attitude towards other brands here. That was last year. I decided to buy a few SK products. I was very impressed with it all. Then I came across several threads by Big O, who is Steve Parks, one of the lead designers from SK. The guy is on here all the time. Answering questions, helping people out and giving his opinions. He talks to you like a friend, not a know it all jerk, like some big names I've talked with. Then came the first time I had an issue with one of their products about 8 months ago. One call to Mark Copley and the problem was fixed super fast. Mark talked to me like a friend not a customer. He didn't bend over backwards and kiss my butt, but rather treated me like a friend. That goes a long way with me. Fast forward to last month. Another small issue with a crank bait. The way I was treated by Steve and Mark was great again. I have the same type of deal with North Star Custom Baits. Both Chris and Vinny have helped me time and time again with questions and help. Chris has treated me like hes known me for years. I work in Customer Service. Have so all my life. Being treated like I treat people will go miles with me and that tends to bring people to absolute loyalty. I will never buy another jig in my life that doesn't come from North Star. Are there better jigs out there, maybe, but for me, its different. Same goes for SK. If they make what I want, I will never go with anyone else.
  4. Try the Bass Pro or Ez tube weights that go inside the Tube. Rig your hook through it and texas rig it. Its completely weightless and gives a nice vertical spin fall
  5. Yep. I didn't want to push anything else on you that you didn't want. The *** has been turning some serious heads around here lately. A few other forums I frequent, have been talking it up too. At 100 bucks its a good deal. I bought an Avid cranking rod this month and was tickled pink. I started looking at other St. Croix rods and the mojo felt really good. I am in the market for a 6'8"-7" Medium Xfast rod and the Mojo is looking very good for that. Its right at 100 dollars too. I have a Shimao Clarus rod too. I love that sucker. It was about 80 dollars and comes with Shimano's life time over the counter replacement warranty. Its a step down from the Compre rods, but I can't see the extra 20 dollars for it. The clarus is super light, sensitive and black too The Clarus rods are technique specific so it will help in deciding what you want it for.
  6. I've been pushing the jigs hard this year more so that any other year of my life. They have been my confidence bait when nothing else, even live bait for bottom feeders, works. However this year, I am starting to run cranks alot more. I only have 7 combos, so I usually bring all of them. I may only use 2-3 but I have it. I have been also, bringing one rod, with one style of bait and only using it to gain confidence too.
  7. No problem. Out of those 3, the best over all quality would be the Sellus. It doesn't have the Shimano Life time warranty, but when it comes to the durability and non issues the Veritas has been having lately, its a steal at 50-60. Its heavier than the Veritas and the Vendetta too. If you can find a Veritas that doesn't have chipping of the epoxy or miss aligned guides, they are a great rod at 100 dollars. If you do have problems with it, Abu Garcia stands behind it so it will be fixed or replaced. I know you mentioned those 3 rods only, but at 100 dollars, the market is open to many many awesome quality rods at 100 dollars.
  8. Whats your budget? Youve got a 50 dollar rod, 70 dollar and a 100 dollar rod
  9. I know this sound, what I meant was on the hookset it sounded like a high pitched saw
  10. Cool another guy from OK. Over in Edmond here.
  11. I thought this deserved a public comment. I had a small issue, very small with a couple of crank baits. They were replaced nice and quick. Pleasure to work with them on the return. Thanks alot SK folks!
  12. Wow that little Shirley need to lay off the hormone pills
  13. X2. I've been trying to teach myself how to skip and it works pretty good. I look like a dang drunk monkey trying to do it from shore, but its kinda working lol But ya the Flip N Swim can cover some serious water as a search bait. Basically a spinnerbait with no blades. It comes through the nasty with the head design real well.
  14. Mnbassman23 recommend the Berkley Havoc Subwoofers to me several months ago. I use nothing else now. They are always on sale and have no scent so you can add your own. The Alabama Craw matches the New Gill to a "T" and the Watermelon Red is a dead ringer to the Salsa. The Strike King California color matches the Salsa real well if you want a craw.
  15. Ah gotcha! I heard that and my first thought was, what just got tore up.
  16. I was watching some reruns of Zona and the Major League Fishing and the guys using braid get that weird high pitched sawing sound. What causes that? Is that the reel or the braid on the guides? Does it tear something up or put extra wear on anything. I only noticed it when they laid the wood to em on the hook set though.
  17. Ya. I have been using it hard for a week now. I wished I would have bought some sooner. It's a great pattern for these dirty waters here. The skirt is thick. Site says 60 strands. It's not as thick as the Black series, but still fairly thick.
  18. I'm going to try this on one of mine and see what it does. I bought a bunch of Strike King spit n shads this year to test so this may be the ticket
  19. Not this weekend, but last year my son and I were fishing a local lake back home. We were about to head in, when he wanted to reel my bait caster in. Casted a Bomber 6A in red crawfish out and he thought it was snagged. He set the hook and after a few minutes I had to take over. 15 minutes later we landed a 25" Wiper. The next evening we hit the same spot. Same lure and same time. I got a hit like I've never felt before. After 10 minutes, my reel was making some scarey noises and the drag cut loose and the reel went to free spool. I used my thumb as best as I could and drug the line in like a fly rod as the handle would not engage the spool. A few minutes later, the crank came flying out of the water and gave my bell a nice little ring. We fished that spot hard for 2 more weeks and never landed anything over 20" again. What ever the hell that was, I bet money its still there. My son asks me almost daily why I let that fish go lol
  20. The owner of NSCB Chris, has recommended that trailer several times to me. I tried them and loved the action, but on the 1/2 oz swim it was a bit much for my rod. Its max is 3/4, but a heaiver rod would rock with that trailer.
  21. I bought one to try them out. I never noticed any difference using standard guides. What I did notice was when using a leader, the knot would hang up all the time.
  22. Ya, the cheapest stuff is what I usually use. I have 1000 yards of Trilene XL that I have been using, and its cheap. As for a leader, I have started only using them in clear water, but its all your personal prefrence. 3 lines sounds like a lot but if you put 65 yards or so of braid, you will more than likely never even see your backing line.
  23. Good deal. The rooster tail was dads favorite lure! Welcome guys!
  24. How much more quality than a 250 dollar spinning reel can you get? I've got a 25 dollar spinning reel that's smooth as butter with no issues. Did you read the guys post? The quality of the reel has absolutely nothing to do with the problem he is describing. To the OP, not to insult you, but did the put the line on correctly? Was the line reused? If the reel is smooth on retrieve?
