  1. Yes, all NS jigs are wire tied. Very sturdy. I have jigs that are 2 years old and have no issues. They usually have one around this time, but you can always call Chris and ask him. I hope they do, I am going to get some finesse jigs for my son
  2. If your freshwater fishing for say small species like bass etc, any mono will do, but if your going after something huge, I'd have some good backing and a good knot. I'd hate to have my backing give out on a huge fish due to cheap mono.
  3. Start with the Ecigs. They are not better than quitting, but you can spell again, taste food and not worry about others smelling your smoke. I did the same and it worked well. I just gradually reduced the ecigs until I winged myself off m
  4. MUCK FIZZOU baby!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
  5. I've got 2 Brits 1 Weimer and 1 Mutt's ashes saved in those urns the Vet gives me. I spread part of the ashes on our favorite CRP field and the rest I saved. The Mutt's I'll be buried with, the others I will keep for ever. I found it easier to keep them displayed. I look at them every night before I head to work!
  6. Its all in if you can handle it. My dog was hit and killed in my driveway (along with me getting hit too) 2 Christmas's ago. I still can't bring myself to get another one. I should have had her on a leash but we were taking a walk down the drive to get the mail. She never left my side but about 2 feet. Driver was drunk and jumped the curb taking her and myself out. If I hadn't been hit I would probably have given him 15+1 pain pills, but I was out cold. They found him 2 weeks later. I blame myself for her death so I really can't bring myself to get another one. People say that if you are morning the loss of one, go drop down in the middle of a bunch of puppies and you will be cured.
  7. When they first came out, I was one of the first to jump on them. I had 5 at one time. I never found a single rod, bought online and at BP, that didn't have some flaw. They were nice and light weight, but I hated not having something that I paid my hard earned money for, that wasn't perfect The main problems are in the epoxy around the guides and the guide inserts coming out. I could pick up any one at BP and find major damage. I never had the rod break on me, but did have several inserts fall out on a normal cast. I have lower and higher end rods and none give me these problems. Come to think of it, I've never had that kind of issues in all my years of fishing. I can't comment on the *** rods other than from feeling them in the store, but so far, I haven't seen any negative reviews at all. They have been out for a year now and no major issues. I'd say save the 20 bucks and get another. My 7'3 MH Veritas felt like a broom stick compared to say my 7' MH Mojo. One other rod to give a hard hard look at is the Clarus from Shimano. I bought one for 80 bucks at BP and love it. Mine is a 6'8 MXF and its perfect for topwater. It has every feature as the Veritas, but its black. More comfortable trigger and better locking system. Life time over the county warranty too. Not to mention, its flawless in regards to guides, inserts and epoxy.
  8. Off the subject Snook, but I'd be really interested in hearing your opinions on it. I switched over to PP 40# slick Timber Brown this last winter. So far, so good. I'm bending 3x hooks and have little to no wear (other than color). I am looking to replace my spinning rig with it too. To the OP, my suggestion would be to find the thinnest cheapest braid and try it. Chances are its going to be the most abrasive.
  9. They will have a good sale for Thanksgiving and for Christmas if you can wait, but they are all usually 15% or so
  10. I don't tell many people this, but the Huskies have always been my #2 team. I loved Calhoun and his under dog program.
  11. Which is why college bball has it perfect! By the way ROCKCHALK JAYHAWLK!
  12. Dogs are the only animals in the world that loves you more than it loves itself.
  13. Where the 1700's in some third world country? Vets use Rompum and Ketamen (sp) small injection and they go to sleep. And yes, I've seen it done, done it myself more times that I can count.
  14. War, Asking him an open ended question like that might produce national secrets or things a human should never see lol
  15. Just to add on my post, I can totally understand if you don't have the funds for heavy doctor bills, I've been there and I am by no means loaded with money, but vets only charge pennies on the dollar to euthanize an animal.
  16. Whatever you reason for posting this stupid inhumane response, I'll never know. But you've got the smarts of a bucket of rocks. Any animal rescue can help out or take the dog from you and not have to kill it. You obviously have no heart for a family pet. In my line of work, usually nothing amazes me, but today, not so much
  17. Take it back. It very well could have been loose in the store, been buggered etc and you didn't notice it until it fell out. I have two and have been using them solid for a year, its not a common issue with them. Since its new, you should have no problem taking it back
  18. Rage Rig them on a 4/0 1/4oz Stroker hook. They are tuff and can take numerous skips under docks and lots of punishment. I didn't like them as jig trailers due to not much action as compared to a craw
  19. First off, watch the Flea Market here like a hawk. Guys are putting stuff up new and use all the time. Right now, there are two St. Croix Premier rods for sale for 100 shipped for both. These are 120 dollar rods. As for rods, a good quality Medium Fast or Xfast rod will cover everything from weightless plastics, top water baits up to about 3/8 oz weighted plastics and jigs. A good quality MH Fast or Xfast will get you up to about an ounce on the same as before. As for baits, I mainly fish jigs 24/7. 1/2oz is all I use and I rarely use anything but flipping jigs and flip n swims. A good 75 dollar order from North Star Custom Baits would set you up very well. I like Strike King, Rapala and Bomber cranks. Watch the sales at all the local places. Academy has their house brand H2O stuff on sale every week.
  20. I've never used a wire leader or the Alabama rig which is wire, but bass seem to tear that sucker up. Logic would say, if they hit the rig, then the wire leader shouldn't be an issue
  21. First time I heard it, I bought it on iTunes.
  22. Ya, stop asking the advise of strangers on the internet and CALL THE VET NOW PARTNER!!! While you waiting for the vet to schedule an X-ray, look for that jig.
  23. I seem to catch bigger fish, but less fish on the 2.5's. I prefer the 4S or 2.0's as I call em over all of them.
  24. I only use the Flip N Swims but most of the colors are crossed. I like the Salsa, Simply Watermelon, New Gill, Shad/Crappie, Mistake. Don't forget to get some black and some black/blues for dark water. Good choice on NSCB. You won't be disappointed!
  25. That's a hard question to answer. I have both and heavier jigs, cranks and plastics felt like it overloaded the reel. Made a harsh buzzing sound when I made a cast. I use it now for top water and small jerk bait flukes etc and it feels perfect. It palms really well too. That said, the 200 size is hard to beat too. It's only 3/4oz heavier and feels really good in my small hands too
