  1. When you get done testing this, I'd be interested in hearing your opinion. Thanks
  2. Thanks man. I went to BP to check out a few different rods. Brought the Core with me to try. I found a Carbonlite 6'6" MF that was a display model. They marked it down to 65 dollars. Makes the entire combo 9.9 ounces! I figured I could try it for the time being. The Avid is next in line though. They didn't have any instock or I would have probably bought it. This Carbonlite balances really well though. Kinda shocked me.
  3. I went ahead and bought 660 yards of the sunline mono. I was hoping to get away with braid for the line management and lure retrieval.
  4. I have a 5-10 minute widow of opportunity to haul tail home after work before it gets to where I want to choose which prison cell I want to reside. I came from a town where during the Mrs Kansas Pagent (largest gig in the city) I can make it across town in 5 minutes tops. Our city officers usually stay off the major extensions during the busy times unless they are needed. Traffic is so slow, speeding is non existent. What has always bothered me was how can you feel safe driving 3 feet off someone's butt? These peoples insurance has got to be through the roof
  5. They say the same about us Big XII folks, but there is usually a few four letter words involved
  6. I have a 745 and its my dedicated rod for pitching jigs. Its got a ton of backbone and a great soft tip. It really doesn't feel good for casting 1/2oz jigs all day. It almost feels too stiff. I've been told the 4 power rods are better suited for this. In all 4 of the Dobyns line of rods the powers are pretty close to power.
  7. Sam, You will always have an open invite to ride with me on campus for a night. We have some buildings that will make your skin crawl!

    Craws

Rage Craws for my normal everyday jigs Bass Assassins Pure Craw for when the bluegill are thumping my jig all day Xcite baits chunk for my hair jigs.
  9. Thanks. I'll jump on a couple of spools of it. I've never really gotten into jerkbaits hardcore, but what little I have, its been a blast.
  10. Anyone used these on the back of a swim jig? I have a bunch of them I got cheap.
  11. True. I have it now as a quick change combo with an Alimony jig tied on. If I miss a hit and need a quick chance it usually works.
  12. I'm going to be replacing it with 744 or 734 in Feb. I was going to hold out till then, but I may give them a try
  13. Agreed, I really like the feel of two rods I have, a Clarus and Mojo, but both balance like a drunk elephant. The mojo is one of the lightest rods I own. It loads a 1/2oz swim jig better than any rod I have, but the thing is so tip heavy that it makes a day of fishing kinda suck. I've used a 10 oz reel to try and balance it out with no luck. My 733 is tad heavier than my MoJo, but it balances so well with my 50E, that it feels half the weight of the Mojo. I had to break out the scale to see for myself.
  14. This has been my #1 producer all year. North Star Black Series Brown Craw. Its the one on the left The best jig is going to get a 1000 different votes. I stick with NS as I love the quality and have always been treated well by Chris.
  15. If I'm by myself, I go for Quality. A long fight with a big girl will beat any amount of fish. If I have my son, I prefer quantity as it will keep him in the game. He's only 7 and loses patients pretty quick.
  16. Welcome from Edmond!
  17. It's probably the strongest knot for fluoro I've found. I just live with it. Unless your retying constantly with new lures, the knot should last awhile. I've got 2-3 trips on the same knot.
  18. I haven't used mono for a long time. How's the stretch compared to Trilene? What was the reason for using mono?
  19. Thanks H. I'll just stick with the chartruse blue one I won for now.
  20. I do that all the time. I run 40# braid and 20# Fluoro leader with no issues. The extra spool idear might be a good thing.
  21. Thanks. I use braid for almost everything now so I've gotten used to tasking it slow with braid. I fish some heavy covered lakes and am able to get my jerkbaits back when snagged. I just didn't know what working it with a fast action would be like.
